O’Grady/Johnston POV
“Hello sir, could I get a room for the night?” I flashed my FBI ID at the clerk.
“How many people will be with you?” The clerk asked as he eyed the ID then handed the ID back and continued to look at his magazine.
“Me and a child.” I said as I reached for my wallet to pay for the room.
“Hey man, I don’t allow illegal acts here, especially things that deal with kids!” The clerk was fully alert at this point.
I slowly put down my walled and stared at the clerk for a couple of minutes. “I am not a pervert, you sick f**k! I am Special Agent Trip Johnston with the FBI. The child that is with me is in protective custody! Now are you going to rent me a room or do I have to shut you down?!”
The clerk still looked leery but reluctantly rented me a room. “If I hear anything strange I will call the cops, I don’t care who you work for.”
After receiving a room key, I went back to the car where Chancey was fast asleep. I got in and drove to the parking lot coinciding with the room key. I went into the room and made sure that I didn’t have any unexpected visitors. After clearing the room, I went back to the car and woke up my hostage. “Chancey, we are at the hotel for the night. Now if you obey me, I will let you talk to you parents when I call them.”
She quietly nodded her head. “I will be a good girl, I really wanna talk to my mommy and daddy.” She said almost in tears at this point.
We both entered the room and I sat her down on one of the beds. I set up the trace scrambler before I dialed Xavier’s phone number. After a couple of rings, the call was finally answered. “Hello Xavier, how is your lovely wife doing?” I paused for a while. “Now, now there is no need for all the name calling. I was going to let you talk to your daughter, but maybe I will just call you tomorrow.” I placed my hand over the receiver. I then faced Chancey.
Chancey nodded. “Yes, sir.” She was patiently waiting.
“Listen Xavier, I have someone here who wants to talk to you regardless of how you’re acting.” I stood and pulled the curtains shut. “Hang on a second and I’ll put you on the phone with your daughter.” I sat down next to Chancey to lay down some rules. “Okay, I only have a couple of rules that you need to obey. First, don’t tell them where you are and second if I think that you are disobeying rule one I will cut off all your fingers, one at a time. Understand?”
She nodded. “I understand, can I speak to my daddy now?”
I handed her the phone. “You have ten minutes.”
“Daddy, is that really you?” She asked and her voice trembled slightly.
“Oh baby, yes it’s really daddy. Are you okay? Are you in danger? Did he hurt you?”
“Yes I’m okay, and I have a bad feeling that I’m in danger. How is mommy?”
I could hear an edge to Xavier’s voice as I listened. “Did he threated you in any way? Mommy I good, she’s just a little worried. Can you tell me where you are?”
She paused, acting like she was crying to buy sometime. She visualized the hotel room and what she saw outside. She hoped that her daddy were there with her. She was trying to concentrate bus she was so tired. “Daddy, I miss you and mommy!”
“Chancey, you sound so distant, are you okay honey?” Xavier asked, concerned.
“Times up.” I grabbed the phone from Chancey. “So, you’ve talked to her now I want to talk to Sierra.” I waited until she was on the phone. “Here is what I want from you. I want everything you have on the victims that you found with my last kill, and I mean everything. You have 24 hours, if you don’t complete the task I will make it that you will NEVER see your daughter again, dead or alive!” I then hung up the phone.
