Chapter 11

2182 Words
Valentina's pov "Is she going to be okay?" I hear a muffled voice blare through my ears. What even happened? The last thing I remember was sitting at the table of a restaurant with Jay, Alan, and Heaven. Dios mío, am I dead? Okay no, obviously I'm not dead. I open my eyes and see myself laying down on a bed with side railings, and I immediately dart my eyes downward to see my attire. I'm wearing a hospital gown. With the f**k? How did I get here? "Oh my god, Valentina! You're okay. Thank god." Gina exclaims, standing up from the couch she was laying upon. My mom moving in unison with her, which sort of creeps me out how they simultaneously moved at the same time. Both of them got up and gave me a hug that was a little tight, but not that tight to cut off my circulation. "What happened?" I ask in confusion. I genuinely don't know what happened to me—the only thing I do know is that I hate hospitals, so the fact that I'm here is revolting for me. "You fainted while having a panic attack, no te acuerdas?" My mom questions holding my hand, I feel my other hand being squeezed by Gina. "No. All I remember was being with Heaven, and the other boys at a restaurant. By the way, who got me here? It certainly wasn't you both." I speak, my voice a little raspy from me just waking up. "Heaven brought you here, well she got my number from your phone and immediately took you to the hospital. I did tell her how much you hated hospitals, but she sounded really worried for you." My mom explains. Now I'm even more confused than ever. Heaven caring about me? There's absolutely no way that's even possible. I mean... she despises me. Right? Of course she does, she always name calls you, and not to mention— she's a vicious and cruel person. "Where is she? Did she leave?" I ask, certainly curious to know if she's here. I doubt that she is, it's impossible that she would stay. She'll rather die then be with me or even near me. "She went to go get food for us. She's actually really sweet around your mom, which scares me. Even with me, she was all nice and caring." Gina says in a crucial tone. Why is she being nice all of a sudden? Maybe she just feels bad. Who knew she actually has the heart to feel sympathetic for me? "That's kind of strange." I say in a serious tone. I'm being serious about her acting this way. Why is she being kind all of a sudden? Does she want something from me? Is she going to kill me, so she's being nice for the time being? My mind at this point is building up so many words and emotions, which is causing me to overthink. I really need help. "Valentina Serena Gomez?" I hear my name being called out by a male figure. I blink out of my thoughts and look up to see the doctor calling me. I sort of forgot my middle name. I hate it so much, since my dad used to call me that and ever since then, the name just disgusts me at this point. I don't let out any words, instead I just nod and sit up. I wince in pain from the cramp that just appeared on my stomach. "Are you okay Miss Gomez?" The doctor inquires. "Yes I'm fine, just a cramp." I fake laugh, finally able to sit up as I was struggling to. As the doctor was about to speak, I hear a knock on the door. My gaze turns to the door, where I see: Heaven. She's wearing the same clothes she wore yesterday at the restaurant. Wait was it yesterday or am I losing my mind? Heaven catches the glance I have on her. She smiles softly, and hands Gina the bag of food from McDonalds. "Nice to see you again. I'm glad you didn't die on me." Heaven jokes, revealing me to roll my eyes. "You are Valentina right? Do you prefer Serena?" The doctor asks in of course, his white accent. Not that it's a problem, it's actually pretty amusing to hear his accent. "Just Valentina please." I reply. I reckon my eyes at Heaven who's smirking at me. Ugh, I know she's making fun of me so hard because of my middle name. It's not even that funny. "Okay, so I ran some tests and it does appear that you fainted because of your panic attack that you were enduring, however for some reason the test results show that you suffer from anxiety. Is that correct?" The doctor, who's name is still unknown—oh wait, he has a name tag. Duh. Okay, anyways, Doctor Zimmerman asks me. "Yes that's correct." I answer. I fiddle with my finger nervously, as it's a bad habit that I do. Gina hold my hand tighter to let me know she's here with me. I'm so lucky to have her. She's so amazing. Although we barely met about a month ago, she's my literal best friend. She's been by side since then, and I'll forever grateful for that. "Okay. Well, I'm going to prescribe you with some medication for your anxiety. Is there any medication that you're currently taking right now?" He questions, grabbing his stethoscope and placing the it on my back to take my respirations. I inhale a deep break and then exhale to help him. "No sir." The room is silent for a brief second. Doctor Zimmerman writes something on his clipboard before speaking again. "All done. You're cleared to go home, if you feel comfortable enough. If not, you're welcome to stay here another night. Just pick up your medication at our pharmacy and you'll be ready to go," He turns to my mom and continues talking again. "Make sure she takes this medication at least 2 times a day. One in the morning and evening. If she doesn't, the anxiety that she's undergoing will continue more rapidly." He finishes. My mom nods in understanding. "I'll get your medication. You girls stay here." My mom says, with a strict voice. We all nod and she leaves the room, closing the door softly behind her. "I'm sorry about you having to go through this. I didn't know you suffer with anxiety." Heaven accords, looking deep into my eyes. Gina from beside me, opens the bag of food and grabs a fry, before inserting it into her mouth. Typical Gina. She's apologizing? Why? Why is she being nice right now? "It's fine. No one knows, well besides my mom, but I'm already used to the feeling." I say simply. Gina gestures with her finger for some fries, but I shake my head no. I'm not really hungry at the moment. "You still don't have to go through that, it's not fair." Heaven says with a sympathetic tone. I'm still confused as to why she's being nice. I mean... if you meet Heaven, you know how cruel she is to everyone, especially me since she loathes me. Everyday at school, or somewhere else, Heaven always has something to say to me, and it's not in a nice way... in a mean way. So why is she now being nice? She has the power to ruin me with this, or even kick me off the cheerleading team, but the way she me treating me right now is signifying that she won’t do any of that. "Why are you being nice all of a sudden? You're cold-hearted and fiendish, so now you're being all charming. For what?" Gina asks, with a mouth full of food. "I'm not even that cruel, I have a heart. Occasionally." Heaven replies with a shrug. Heaven having a heart?? Did she hit her head on a wall? I need some sleep. "Does Jay know I'm here?" I ask Heaven. Once the name Jay came up, she scowls. "No. It doesn't matter anyways, he was too focused on my boyfriend." Heaven says with an irritated voice. Now she addresses Alan as her boyfriend? That's the first time I hear her say that. She doesn’t even acknowledge him half the time. ——- Heavens pov To say that I don't know why I care about her, is a fact. Why am I feel pity for her? If that was any other person, I wouldn't care at all, yet with Valentina I feel...commiseration. I need to get some sleep, or go home. These feelings that I'm experiencing is not okay. "I got your medicine. Vamos, I have to work." Valentina's mom says, motioning her hand back and forth calling Valentina and Gina over. "Ms.Gomez, you don't have to worry about that. I can tell my mom for you to take time off. As much as you need of course." I reassure her. I hope she lets me do this for her, but I do know for a fact that my mom will. "No need to do that Heaven, I can work it's no problem for me." "My mom will understand, it's important to take care of Valentina. She needs it." I say, trying to convince her to stay home. All she does is nod and thanks me silently. I smile briefly. I just hope Valentina gets better and I'll be fine. Oh my god, what am I becoming? Why do I all of a sudden....care for her? "Heaven before you leave, I wanted to thank you for helping my Valentina. For once, you weren't being cruel and actually helped her." Gina says appreciative from my actions. Valentina is beside Gina looking at her with a face I can't quite describe. "Gee thanks very much." I say sarcastically with a eye roll. "You should be less of a b***h, it's really not that hard." Gina continues. "Okay, I get it." "I don't think you do." Gina remarks, trying to prove her point. "Whatever, I'll try. At least be grateful that I'm trying." I reply. I scrimmage through my pocket to find my car keys, which takes me about 10 seconds for me to find them. After the almost kiss I encountered with Valentina, I've been doing a lot of thinking. So much thinking that actually hurts my brain. Do I even like girls? Absolutely not. I can't. My reputation is at sake. Plus, I'm rich and powerful I can't like girls, that's just wrong. Right? "Heaven!" Valentina exclaims, pulling me out of my haze. "I'm sorry.. what?" I say confused, as I hear the door opening and revealing Valentina in her normal clothes. She is wearing a pink crop-top and black sweats, and her makeup was gone showing her clear face. The only thing she had on was mascara, but still I spite that she's natuarally pretty without even trying. No wonder she got offered to be a model...I mean look at her. "Are you okay? You can go now, we were just about to head out." Valentina says, grabbing her bag. "Yeah I'm good, okay well I'll walk you guys to your car." I offer. Why did I even say that? Am I stupid? I've never even offered that to anyone before—not even with my own mother. "Go for it." Is all Valentina says, before she heads out with Gina and her mom in front of her. I walk next to Valentina with her on my left, while Gina is on my right. It's pretty awkward the first few seconds then we make it peacefully to Ms.Gomez car. Valentina stops to face me, meanwhile Gina and Ms.Gomez nod at me and go inside the car. "Thank you again, Heaven. Instead of leaving me to die, you decided that I actually have something to live for." Valentina says, with a bit of sarcasm in her tone. "No problem, now I know next time what to do." I speak, looking into her hazel eyes. Looking at her eyes are mesmerizing, once I start looking at the way they sparkle, I instantly fall into a gaze. "They'll be a next time?" Valentina asks surprised. I don't know why my heart is beating so fast. What is happening? "Um, yeah I mean um, you know with cheer and everything." I say nervously. Why am I nervous?? I think I just need to get some rest. That's definitely it. Valentina smiles cheekily, and hugs me in an instant. I wrap my arms around her shoulder and embrace her hug. I usually don't even let ayone hug me, but with Valentina? Why am I not pushing her off?? Please explain to me why I feel this way. "I'll see you later." Valentina whispers and walks to her moms car, leaving me in complete shock and confusion. There's no possible way I even like Valentina. I can't. If I do, I have to distance myself from her, and that wouldn’t be okay either.
