Chapter 37
Eski POV
I was keeping in touch with my sister Jenni. She was telling me that Mart was on house arrest because of his father. I was wondering when he was going to call me and tell me all of this. I was getting upset, but the second I did, I heard my phone ring. I got up to get it. It was him. I didn't get mad when I answered the phone; I simply asked if everything was okay. He told me everything that has been going on, even his house arrest. It's the reason why he sent me away. I knew about his father and what he had done to get banished from the kingdom. When he told me this, I calmed down, and we talked for a while. I wanted to calm him down. We got off the phone, and I wanted to be with him. I was so tired of being away from him. It's been a whole three years since I haven't seen my mate; he keeps me away. Forget this, I'm coming home. I contacted LeeAnn, letting her know what I was doing. She agreed that I should be with Mart; he needed me more than ever now. I got to the airport right when the royal jet landed. I had to wait a few hours for it to get gassed up. Once it was done, I got on the jet. It was only going to take four hours to get home; if I drove, it would have been longer than that. That's when I was three hours into the flight when Mart called me again, telling me that his bastard of a dad was finally gone. He asked when I could get home. I giggled and told him I was almost there. Could he come and get me from the airport? He told me he would be there waiting. Now, it's the final few minutes before we landed. I went to the bathroom to check on my hair. I had to brush my light brown hair out. I saw my wolf looking back at me. I loved her glowing green eyes. Whenever she did this, it meant that she was happy. When they glowed brighter than this, she's pissed off, and you better watch out; she will mess you up. LeeAnn is the one who trained me and the other girls. I knew she would have agreed for me to come home. The jet was about to land. I started to get nervous. I haven't seen my mate for three years. I can't wait to see him, but I'm also nervous. When the jet landed, I had to wait for the engine to turn off, then the door would open, and the steps would lean down onto the ground so I could step off. I was waiting for the announcement to let me know I could leave the jet. Once it was done, I almost ran down the steps. I saw a car waiting, and I knew it was Mart. But why would he have guards and warriors with him? Oh yeah, house arrest until further notice. Xander was making sure he wouldn't run. I ran toward him, jumping into his arms. We kissed passionately, and we heard throats being cleared. He let me down. I looked around, blushing, and then I said,
“I'm so glad I'm home, I've missed you, my love. I can’t believe I'm here right in front of you. Can we please go home now?”
“Of course. We have a house now; we don't live in the castle anymore. Once I got kicked out of it, I was moved into a house. You will like it; it's cozy and even has a small fireplace. I can't wait for you to see it. And of course, you can decorate it as much as you want. It needs a woman's touch.” I thought about it for a few minutes. A woman's touch means his dirty clothes are tossed on the floor, and it needs to be clean, but Mart was a clean man. He likes the house to always be clean; that was just him, so I might have to decorate. Who knows.
“Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go home. I'm excited to see the new house.”
**Mart's POV**
I can't believe she's home. I was nervous about seeing her, but now that she's here, all I wanted to do was have her home with me. I wanted her to be in my arms. I loved how she looked—her light brown hair was longer; she had it in a ponytail now, but I could tell it was long. Her hazel green eyes were just as beautiful as the first day I looked into them. I got her into the car, and then we started driving off. The warriors were in another car behind us, as our car had three guards—two in the front and one in the back seat with us. Everything was going alright so far, but I didn't trust it. I could feel it in my bones that something was going to go wrong. You know that feeling when you have a sensation deep down in the pit of your stomach? Yeah, that's what I was getting; something is wrong. We were almost to the kingdom when we heard it—loud howls that were not of the kingdom—and then a loud crash. We looked back and saw the warriors' car being flipped over, and then suddenly our car started flipping. Eski started screaming. The windshield shattered as the car flipped. What's going on here? The car stopped; no one was moving. The two warriors in the front started moving around; they crawled out, then saw the rogues—they were standing there looking at them. They hurried to mindlink Xander. He told them he would be there quickly. The warriors in the other car weren't moving at all; the car was pouring gas. Mart started waking up. He was shaking Eski to get her to open her eyes. When she did, he breathed a sigh of relief.
“What happened? Why does my head hurt?”
“Rogues, that's what happened. I don't see the warriors moving at all. Come on, let's get out of here; I smell gas.” We crawled out of the car. I noticed that she had a cut on her forehead, but it wasn't that bad. It looked like the blood had stopped, and she was already healing. We heard growling behind us. We turned and saw Xander and a ton of warriors with him. Once the rogues saw the king, they ran off. The warriors ran after them to make sure they didn't go too far.
Xander yelled out to us, “IS EVERYONE OKAY!!” We shook our heads, pointing at the warriors' car. We ran over there, dragging them out of the car before it blew up. Two of them started stirring, but the other one wasn't moving at all. Xander leaned down to put two fingers on his neck.
“He's alive but barely. I have an idea, but it can be dangerous. I can talk to his wolf, demand that he gets up and walks. He will take over the body until we get to the pack hospital.” Then he stood up and said,
“Mills, I order you to get your ass up and take your human to the hospital so he can get treatment. I know it's dangerous, but we need to get him there.” It took a few minutes, but he opened his eyes, then stood up, bowing his head toward Xander.
"My human is alive, but he's badly hurt. I was trying to heal him when you ordered me to take over his body. I have enough energy to walk to the hospital, and that's it, but I will need help. I'm weak as well." So we walked beside him, making sure he didn't fall or get hurt. When we got to the hospital, he fell to his knees, then said,
“This is as far as I can go, I can't go any further,” then his body went limp, and he went back into Smith's head. Xander picked him up over his head to take him the rest of the way.
“Mart, if you're not hurt, get the nurses and tell them we have a warrior that's hurt. Then you can take care of your mate.”
