No not my mother 24

Chapter 24 Selena POV: I was talking to Nancy when Laura called for me and the higher-ups. We looked at each other, "What have we missed?" We have been so busy talking about her powers that we didn't notice anything else. She's been doing so well with hiding the fact that she had her memory back. So what happened? We went to see her, then she told us what was going on. Goodness, I've forgotten all about the threat. Not only I but also Nancy and the others had forgotten. The young lady actually yelled at us, and Nancy told her to calm down. I could tell she was impressed with her. Usually, people hide in fear of the higher-ups, but not Laura. She was giving us a piece of her mind. We ended up giving her all her powers, but there were two conditions. She had to figure out how to use them on her own. The second one is how she is going to tell Jasper. She wanted this, so she got it. Now, we are back above the clouds watching until we meet again, my children. You know I will be back. Rice POV: It took us a few days to get to the hotel where Laura was staying. I know it should have only taken us a few hours, but Creek had to drop by a few packs to handle business. He's an alpha, and he handles business all the time. I was surprised that we mated and marked each other the way we did. We had a quick Luna ceremony, and then it was over because he had business to take care of. It was like my things didn't matter. But with Laura, he knew I wanted to see her badly. She was like my best friend, my sister. He kept looking at his watch while driving. I finally just said, "Will you stop looking at your damn watch? You're done with your meetings. This is our time right now." I think he was stunned when I spoke up, but then he said, "Listen, you know how I was when I told you. I have business to take care of everywhere we go, so deal with it, okay? You're the Luna, you're supposed to stand by me through all this. I'm taking you to see Laura. Be happy with that, okay? You know, I love you, so just understand that I'm a busy man." I don't understand this man at all; he was so kind, then boom, it was like he didn't have time at all. We finally made it to the hotel, and I saw Laura walking out of the lobby. I jumped out of the car before he even shut it off, running up to her, I jumped into her arms. She was laughing like old times. "Listen, I don't have much time because he has a meeting somewhere, so I wanted to come and say hi." "Oh my goodness, Rice, you look wonderful. I'm so proud of you, I'm so happy I got to see you." ‘Wait, you remember me? Oh my gosh, you do!' I squealed, making her laugh as I hugged her tightly. “I'm so happy you remember me. But listen, I have to get going. Maybe on the way back we can stay longer.” I took a look at Creek; he didn't say anything. I'm starting to feel that the only reason why he wanted a mate is that he could be stronger, and the alphas would pawn their daughters off of him. If this does not stop, I'm going to end up letting him know about himself. Maybe he never had anyone do that before. Just because I'm an omega doesn't mean I'm going to let someone walk all over me. I didn't do it at my old pack. I will not let it happen now. I stand up for myself. I hugged her again and told her I would see her real soon. Then we got into the car and drove off. I didn't say much on the way to the pack we are heading to. Why can't we just relax, even if it's just for a day? With him, relaxing is not in his vocabulary. I guess we are going to find out soon what's going on in this pack when we get there. He suddenly pulled on the side of the road, turned off the car, then looked at me. “Listen to me carefully, just because you were the top warrior in your old pack doesn't mean you're all Mrs. All High and Mighty. Wait, listen, I don't mean that. I'm sorry for what I said, but you need to understand, these packs trust me. I have family everywhere. So, I go and visit them to make sure they are okay. That's all. It's all about my family, that's all. Half of these packs I don't trust, so I go to them every month to check on the family, that's all. You will always come last when it comes to my family. I'm not sorry about that. You're my Luna; you will bear my pups, and we will be a family, that's that.” My mouth fell open when he told me this. What the hell? What right does he have to speak to me like this, bearing his pups? No, never. I made that decision right there and then. I will not have his pups. Being his Luna, nope, I'm done. After this and when we get back to the pack, I will move out of his room to my mom's. I will never let anyone put me second or third to anyone. I can understand that yeah, family comes first, but don't ever tell me what I am going to do and how I am going to do it. I didn't become a warrior for someone to treat me like this. He reached for me, trying to hold my hand, but I snatched it away from him. He nodded, then started the car back up. If I had known how he was before I agreed to be his mate, there have to be boundaries, and he doesn't understand that. We made it to the Yellowstone pack. I met Alpha Lemo and his Luna, then I met his sister and cousin, who had mates here. ‘Creek, I can't believe you actually found your mate. Congratulations, I'm so happy for you. Now you can spend time with your mate instead of worrying about all of us,’” he didn't say anything but did say, “Annie, you know I will always look after you. I know it's your mate’s job now, but I'm still your big brother.” "Yeah, I know. Well, are you staying the night, or are you heading back home?” He looked over at me, then back at his sister. “I think we are going to head back home. We have a long drive back, plus I get to drive with my mate and pick on her.” I looked sideways at him like he was crazy. He doesn't pick at all. He never has time to do that, so don't lie. “Are you ready, dear?” "Yes, of course,” he hugged his family, then we took off to head home all this way and only stayed for a few hours. Now we have a five-hour drive back. I think I'm going to sit back, relax, and fall asleep, but he had other plans for me. I don't know why, but he started an argument with me, telling me I should have talked more, and I was rude because I didn't say anything. I think I've had enough when he said that he made a mistake in bringing me on this trip with him, and all I've been doing is being rude and disrespectful. I finally flipped my lid and spoke up. Listen to me, jackass. I was fine in my old pack. You didn't have to pick me as your mate. I didn't ask to go on this trip. You could have left me with Laura, but instead, you brought me with you. I wasn't being rude. I was talking with your cousin and your sister. I've had enough. When we get back, I'm moving out of your room. All you've been doing is putting me down and telling me I'm not worth your time. Once I'm moved out of your room, I will go to the elders to apply for a rejection ceremony. Then, my mother and I will go back to my old pack. I'm done.” “Wait, you can't do that. I need you.” “No, you need a punching bag. That's all you need. My father did this to my mother. I've watched him do this to her for years. I'm not stupid. But in the pit of my stomach, I knew when we got back, something bad is going to happen. I can feel it. I mind-linked my mother, asking her if she was okay. But I didn't hear anything back. Maybe she's just sleeping. That's all. She did say she wasn't feeling good. I sat back, letting him rant and rave. I couldn't wait to get away from him. It's only been a few weeks, and he didn't waste any time using me as his punching bag. No wonder all the women in his pack always looked at me, shaking their heads. They knew. They knew how he was. I sat back, looking out the window, ignoring him. It was the only way I could have peace. I must have dozed off when I felt him gently shaking me. “We are home. I think you need to check up on your mother. An omega mind-linked me, telling me they have been knocking on her door for the past two hours.” I jumped out of the car, then ran into the pack house. I got to her bedroom door, knocking. Mom, it's me. Open the door. Are you okay? I didn't hear anything. Taking the key, I unlocked the door, then slowly opened it. The room was dark, but I could sense it. She was gone. Reaching for the light switch on the wall, I flicked it up so the lights turned on. And there she was, lying on the bed as if she were sleeping. Tears ran freely down my face. I knew one day this was going to happen. I just didn't think it would occur so soon. Walking over to her, I lay beside her, moving some hair from her face. I kissed her cheek and told her that I loved her. Then, I laid my head beside hers. I didn't know how long I lay there crying when I felt someone touch my shoulder. "Honey, it's time. You need to take her and get her prepared for burial." So it's like that. You want me to move so he could get my mother and do horrible things to her. She was my mother. She raised me to be a strong woman. And yet, here he is trying to make me weak. I hated him for that. I hated him for taking me as his mate and treating me the way he did. "Rice, sweetheart, the doctor needs to take your mother so he can prepare her. She will be okay, I promise. You can go with them if you want. So you can watch them.” "Damn right, I'm going to watch them. I'm not letting her out of my sight until she's in the ground." I got up, letting the nurses place my mother on this board-like thing. Then, I walked with them. I gave Creek a glare as I passed by him.
