Chapter 7 Lucy's POV I don't know how long I have to play this out. She's been gone for three years, and suddenly, she just walks right in, acting as if everything is normal. It wasn't until I realized she had no clue who I was or if she even owned this hotel. So, I played along. Selena came to me and shared a few things. I have to play this out. She mentioned a war on the horizon and implied that Laura needed to harness her powers. I knew I couldn't tell her these things; she might think I've lost my mind. Rogues lurk out there, seeking to harm everyone, even the hunters. We are always on the run from them. However, we fight the rogues with everything we have. They attempt to invade our territory, seize women, or kill our pups. Some rogues simply desire to live in peace; we refer to them as lone wolves. They prefer solitude and work independently for a living. We maintain a boundary with them, and they reciprocate. Now that she's back, I sensed impending danger. When she summoned me to her room, I thought she was going to declare it all a joke. We'd laugh, and it would be over. To my surprise, that's not what happened. She had numerous questions. Did she even recollect her parents' deaths in a rogue attack when she was ten? I'm unsure if she remembers anything. I contemplated calling Jasper to inform him of her whereabouts. I was acquainted with Jasper. She informed me that she had found her true mate. She'd depart for a few months and then return to inspect the hotel. She entrusted me with his number in case of emergencies. However, when she mentioned going back to talk to them, perhaps she meant that she was returning to see Jasper. Fatigued from our conversation, I excused myself and returned to my post behind the desk. I had no intention of trying to buy her out of the hotel; it was a part of her family. Would Jasper believe me if I phoned him and disclosed her location? Perhaps I shouldn't; she might flee. She wasn't the formidable warrior I once knew; she appeared fragile and scared due to her uncertainty. What am I supposed to do with this situation? I'm feeling perplexed. I closed up for the night and planned to discuss hiring additional desk staff with her. Though I excel at my job, the long hours are beginning to take a toll on me. Upon retiring to my room, I failed to notice the red eyes watching me from the woods, observing him breathing erratically, as if he were losing control. Jasper's POV It was six in the morning, and I was lying on my back in our bed. The videos kept playing in my head. She looked so scared when she woke up; it was like she didn't know where she was. Mila and I had talked things out. I knew it wasn't her fault. She was just trying to help one of the pack members and their small child. But I just couldn't help but think that Doctor Stevens had a hand in this. How come he was gone from his shift so early? Why didn't he come and help them? Just because it wasn't serious doesn't mean he can excuse himself from his job. Something is fishy around here, and I'm going to find out. I didn't sleep at all last night; I might as well get up and start my day. I went to the bathroom to take a long hot shower. I knew I needed to eat, so when I got out, I dried off, got dressed in blue jeans and a black shirt. I had a meeting today with Alpha Creek; he was coming here to talk about the treaties since I left in a hurry yesterday. So, I might as well get my tasks done before he arrives. I don't understand why he wants to come here of all places. I know he hasn't found his mate, so that's probably why he wants to come. I'm really not in the mood for visitors, so I headed towards the kitchen, took some bacon that was already cooked this morning, grabbed some eggs, and then went to my office. I ate while I did some paperwork, checked the emails, and made some phone calls. I hated talking on the phone; I would rather text, but if you text other alphas, how do you know you're talking to them? So, I had to call them. I didn't realize what time it was when my sister walked into the office with a tray of food in her hands. She placed it down on my desk and then said, "Alpha Creek just drove up to the gates. He should be here in ten minutes. I brought this in here just in case you two are hungry." I was a little confused; he wasn't supposed to be here until one today. Looking at the time, it was a little past one. s**t. I was so engrossed in my work that I didn't notice the time. I cleaned up the mess around my desk, then went to the bathroom to splash some water on my face, and I was ready. I was prepared to get this over with. I don't think there should be any more talk of this treaty, but since I signed it, I had to have him in my pack more often. Three times a month, and the same to him. Walking back into my office, I sat down. There was a knock on the door. Well, let's get this over with. Alpha Creek POV I've been searching for my mate for almost twenty years. They say a mate can make you stronger. Well, let's do this then. I also wanted a mate to help me around the pack. We are not hiding anymore, so I'm not worried about my mate dying from a hunter or a rogue. Today, I'm heading to Alpha Jasper's pack to see if I can find her. I don't care if she is an omega. I'll train her, and when she is ready to shift, I will be right there to help her through it. I've seen all the unmated females in my pack, but I felt nothing. There were no tingles when I touched them, not even a damn spark. So maybe here, I'll find something. Maybe I'll pick a chosen mate. That's something, right? We can talk about when we find our mates, we will reject them and then fully accept each other. When we finally pulled up at the gates, I had never been here before. I was impressed by how heavily guarded the gates were. Four guards on each side, with a huge guard in the middle. Impressive. The heavyset guy came up to the truck asking, "What business do you have here?" "I'm here to see Alpha Jasper. He knows I'm coming." His eyes clouded over, then came back to normal. He nodded and waved to the others to open the gate. They did as told. He let us drive through. It took another ten minutes to get to the pack house. Many pack members were looking at us, as I was still a stranger here. My members did the same thing with Jasper. But I knew something was off. His mate was in a coma, but when he was at our pack, she woke up and ran. So he had to leave in a hurry. I felt bad for him. He had been waiting for her to wake up, and now she's gone. I just don't understand it. When we finally arrived, we got out of the car. Beta Berk and Gamma Hayes came down to greet me. The alpha is waiting in the office. He had a lot of work to do, so he's trying to clean up before you get there. Come on in. I saw a beautiful female standing by the door. She kinda looked like Jasper in a weird way. She must be his sister. Once we were close, I nodded my head at her and then said, "I'm here to speak to your brother." "Right this way, Alpha Creek. I'm sure he's cleaned his desk off by now. He's just been busy working all morning trying to get his mind away from what's been going on." I understood what she had said. I saw her look at Hayes and noticed the desire in her eyes. I knew she liked him. What was stopping them? It is beyond me. Gamma Hayes, POV This was all wrong. I can’t believe the alpha's sister is my mate. Her brother is going to kick my ass once he finds out. I didn’t need this right now. We need to figure out where our Luna is. Then I will worry about Mila. But when we find her, what will my best friend say when he finds out I'm in love with his sister? We all walked into the alpha's office. Alpha Creek sat down and began to talk right away. "," I addressed Alpha Jasper. "I'm just going to go ahead and say it. I'm looking for my mate."
