The Wolfless Alpha

Chapter 2

Sarah’s POV

As soon as my gaze locked with the gray ones I felt like today is my last day on this earth.

I am caught eavesdropping on Alpha by none other than the Luna of our pack.

It was as if my toung forgot it’s main function of speaking. No words came out of my mouth.

“I saw you eavesdropping, you know Alpha can kill you for this” Luna said to me. Sweat buds formed on my forehead upon hearing her words. Because I know she is right. He can kill me and no one will try to go against him and help me.

“ Luna…. I.. I am so… sorry” I apologized looking down, “I didn’t mean to do it” I added.

I heard her sighing and looked up at her.

“Come sit” she said and began walking towards the couch. When I didn’t move away from the spot she sighed again and gestured me to sit on the couch beside her.

This time I did what she said and sat down beside her.

I fiddled with my fingers nervously while I waited for her to say something.

“Relax Sarah, I am not mad at you and I won’t tell Alpha about it” she said gently referring to my mistake of eavesdropping with a small smile. I know she is a nice woman. But still I find it difficult to accept that she is forgiving me this easily without any punishment.

“I am sorry Luna” I again apologized.

“It’s okay, just make sure you won’t do it again.” She said and I nodded my head in yes.

“You called for me Luna” I asked her after few minutes of silence.

“Do you want to marry my son?” she asked coming directly to the point.

I stared at her with panicked eyes not knowing how to answer her.

“Tell me honestly Sarah” she said when I didn’t say anything.

“I don’t want to marry him” I replied honestly while staring at my lap. There is no point in lying. Tears started stinging the back of my eyes thinking about what is waiting for me but I didn’t let them fall.

I don’t want to break down in front of her. I am feeling so helpless right now.

I didn’t look up until I heard her next words which caused my mouth to hung open due to shock. I couldn’t believe my ears but the seriousness in her eyes made me believe and once again a ray of hope ignited in my heart upon hearing her words,

“I will help you escape” .

I stared at the clock. After five minutes it will be three in the morning. I looked out of the window. It is dark outside. There is no moon in the sky just darkness.

I didn’t sleep even for a second, how could I when a chaos is running inside me. I took few deep breaths to calm my breathing and rapidly beating heart. But with each passing second my nervousness is increasing.

My eyes keep staring at clock to check the time. The moment it was three I took a deep breath.

“Lets do it” I muttered to encourage myself and shifted into my brown wolf. I took a small bag which I had prepared in my mouth. It has some clothes and some money.

I jumped out of the window into the garden and looked around to check if anyone saw me. By now you must have understood that I am running away.

“Lets go Sarah” I heard a voice say. I turned around to find Clark, Luna's brother. He is one of a warrior of the pack and has a kind heart just like Luna.

I nodded my head in yes as I can’t speak in my wolf form.

He guided the way and took me towards back side of pack house. Just as Luna had told me Clark took care of all the warriors, I can’t find even a single one.

A thought came to my mind which gave me chills, 'did he kill them?’

As if Clark could read my mind he answered my unasked question, “I didn’t kill anyone. At night we take shifts in guarding the back side. Today I offered to guard this area with my friend. I asked my friend who is supposed to guard with me to take rest for half an hour”.

I nodded my head in understanding. I am glad he didn’t kill anyone for me.

We reached the end where there is a big wall. “Will you be able to climb it and jump down?” he asked me.

I stared at the wall one more time and nodded my head in yes. I can do it. With my wolf, it won’t be too difficult.

“Okay be careful” he said with a gentle smile.

“Won’t you get in trouble?” I asked through mind link. I am worried for him. I don’t want either him or Luna to get in trouble for helping me.

“I won’t, don’t worry, now go. You will have to leave this territory on your own” he said seriously.

“Thank you so much” I said genuinely.

I easily climbed the wall and jumped down from it. A breath of relief escaped from my lips when I realized that I am out of pack house.

In the next second I began running as fast as possible. Luna had told me to run through woods as it will give me more place to hide if by any chance any warrior will see me.

I still can’t believe that she is helping me in my escape.

When she told me that she will help me escape, I had asked her why she is helping me. She gave me a small smile upon hearing my question but I could see the pain hidden behind her smile while she answered my question,

‘I know what is happening to you is wrong. I know how painful it is to get married to someone forcefully against your will. That is why I want to help you' This is what she said to me.

After hearing her words I felt like the rumors I have heard about Alpha and Luna are true. I heard that they are not fated mate but Alpha began liking her and forced her to marry him. But as I said earlier, everyone believed it as rumor.

I wanted to ask Luna was she force to marry Alpha but didn’t. It seemed improper to ask such a question to your Luna.

Anyway I am glad that there is someone who decided to help me and I will never forget her kindness.

But no matter how much I try to understand I can’t get why future Alpha wants to marry me when there are so many beautiful and strong woman in our pack.

I remember the conversation between the Alpha and witch. It is bugging me and making me feel restless.

‘Having his mate marked by your son is the way to keep him away fr …..’

The way that witch has said those words it seems like they know who my mate is and they want future Alpha to mark me to keep my mate away from something. But what is it?

How did they know who is my mate when I have never seen him?

This question is messing my mind.

I realized I have reached near East border. I shook my head to erase all these thoughts from my mind, I have to focus now.

Clark had informed me that warrior’s petrol this area continuously, that is why I will have to run without getting noticed by them.

Their base camp is away from here so I just have to hide from patrolling warriors and I will be out of the territory.

Since Clark had already told me the pattern they follow while patrolling this area, it won't be too difficult to avoid them and run away.

I quickly shifted into human form and wore a black t shirt and black jeans. Hiding in my wolf form will be more difficult than my human. That is why Clark had advised me to shift.

“You can do this Sarah” I encouraged myself before looking around one more time before running.

Even in my human form I am a fast runner. After running for almost thirty minutes I realized that my wolf's connection with the pack has ended. Which only means I am free. I am out of the pack's territory.

I am finally free.

My tiring feet stopped for a moment while I took a breath of relief. But I didn’t get to enjoy the moment as I heard a voice speaking from behind,

“See I was right, there is indeed someone trying to run away”.

With a heavy heart and fearful eyes I turned around to find warriors of my pack standing at some distance. They are three, I can’t fight them.

My heart beat raised and panic crawled in my each vein. But my fear increased ten fold when the other man said, “wait, isn’t she the same woman who is supposed to marry future Alpha”.

Without waiting for others to confirm their doubts, I turned on my heels and began running. I wasn’t paying any attention to where I am going, all my mind screamed is to run and hide and that is what I was doing.

It is a good thing that it is still dark and we are in the woods. They won’t be able to catch me easily.

After fifteen minutes of running in random direction, I stopped to catch my breath and realized they are not around me. A sigh of relief escaped from my lips but soon my expression changed into worried ones when I realized I have no idea where I am.

Where should I go now? How am I going to get out of this forest without getting caught?

I began walking straight to find a clue which might help me in figuring out where I am.

'we are out of our pack Sofia but what is this place?’ I asked my wolf.

‘I don’t know' she replied. Her voice is laced with confusion.

'why am I feeling so restless and why are you jumping around like this. I can sense you are nervous, what happened?’ I asked her.

I don’t know why I have this weird feeling in my heart.

‘I don’t know Sarah but I am feeling restless for some reason' she replied in confusion.

I was about to ask her another question when I heard sound of something shuffling from a distance. I looked around but there is no one.

Instead of going away from the sound, my feet began walking in that direction and the feeling of restlessness increased even more.

But before I could walk further, a fearful gasp escaped from my mouth when suddenly someone grabbed my arm from behind me and pulled me closer to himself by grabbing my hairs tightly.

My back was touching his hard chest and his warm breathing was fanning my neck. I tried to release my hand which he had twisted behind my back but failed miserably. His grip tightened painfully on my wrist and on my hairs.

‘they caught me' just as this thought came to my mind, it vanished upon hearing his question, “who are you?”.

He doesn’t know who I am? It means he is not the warrior of my pack who was trying to catch me.

Then who is he?

The question caused a new fear inside me. Did I enter in another pack as a rogue?

I began trembling in his strong hold and sweat covered my forehead and neck.

“Let… let… me..” I couldn’t complete my sentence when he pulled my hairs harshly. I felt like my scalp is burning.

“I won’t ask again for the third time and will kill you if I don’t get the answer in next thirty second, tell me who are you and how dare you enter Dark Moon pack’s territory?”

It wasn’t his bone chilling deadly tone or his threat to kill me which caused my heart to drop to the pit of my stomach and my breath to stop.

It was the pack's name which terrified me to the core. Even my wolf trembled.

'Dark Moon Pack'

I am in Dark Moon Pack.

A harsh pull on my hairs reminded me that I haven’t answered his question yet.

I opened my mouth to speak but no word came out. I am too scared to even speak.

Luna and Clark's warning ranged in my ears,

‘When you leave the territory Sarah, make sure that you even by mistake don’t step in Dark moon Pack’s territory'

‘why’ I asked.

'because the moment you step in that pack, you will be dead. They kill rogue’s at sight'

I felt suffocated, even the simple task of breathing became difficult for me. I couldn’t breath. My head began aching and my heart clenched because of the amount of fear I am feeling.

I didn’t run away to get killed by other pack.

Black dots began appearing in front of me.

“Your time is up” this is the last thing I heard before darkness consumed me.
