Chapter seven

Louise:

I am so excited! I can’t wait to meet my brothers mate. My brother gave me alittle bit of a run down on the phone about her situation. I couldn’t believe that someone let alone an Alpha could treat a pack member like that. Females in our pack get treated with the same if not more respect then the males.

He asked me to take her shopping to grab everything she needs as apparently she doesn’t own anything. We left pretty much straight away. I only grabbed a few things as I thought if I’ve forgotten anything I can just grab it when I take my new sister and law shopping. The warriors always have bags pack in case of emergencies or they have to leave somewhere in a hurry. So they were all ready to go and just waiting on me. I’ve been sitting the car writing a list of what we’ll need to grab so I don’t forget anything. I didn’t realise how far out this pack I’m going to is. The driving told me it’s going to take a good 10hrs or so to get there but with his driving it’ll probably less then that. We have been sitting in the car for about 6 or so hours now. I look out the window and something catches my eyes in between the trees.

“Stop!” I yell at the driver. He pulls straight over and makes a stop. The cars behind us follow our lead. I get out of the car and start walking into the forest with a few men that decided to follow. A black Ute is just sitting in the forest. Walking around to the front of the car I see no driving. The door is swing wide open but there isn’t anyone on the ground. The car seems fine so it didn’t crash. Hmmmm.

Blood.

The smell of fresh blood appears. The men step into action and bolt towards the smell.

“It would be best if you head back to the car my lady”. I raise an eye brow at him. He knows I won’t do that. I follow the boys until we get to a small clearing. In the middle of the clearing is a young boy. He looks like he was just old enough to get his license He is just laying on the grass with his eyes closed. He looks peaceful. The men are standing around him talking to one another. When I come closer that’s when I see it. The bite marks on his neck. Vampires.

Joseph:

I want to spend the whole day getting to know my mate but I just can’t. There’s so much to do. This pack is in such bad shape. Never in my history of being king have I had to strip someone’s title. I took my mate back up to our room and told her to rest. She had bags under her eyes and looks absolutely exhausted. All she could do was nod at me. I know we have a long road ahead of us but I have faith we can get through this. The moon goddess wouldn’t have done this to us if she thought we couldn’t handle the challenge. I’ve taken over Williams office. Slowly going through all his paper work trying to figure out when this pack went to s**t.

Sir. Vampires. We found an abandoned car near the edge of a human town about 4 hours out from you. The guy was just lying in the middle of the clearing. Almost looked a sleep. Wouldn’t have been able to tell anything was wrong if you didn’t know what the bites on his neck were.

Shit with all this other stuff I’ve almost forgotten the reason I came here to begin with.

Thankyou. Just leave him. If his human we don’t want to mess with the humans chances of finding him. We don’t need them sending out a search party once they realise his missing. Just more humans for them to attack. Just make your way here as fast as you can.

No problem sir. We’re still 4 hours out but we can probably make it there in 1.

Just stay us and arrive in one piece.

That’s what I appreciate about my men is they always know what’s needed from them.

Same can you please bring me the beta, Michael was it? I think it’s time to have a chat with him.

No problem sir.

It doesn’t take long before there is a knock at the door.

Sam stands by myself as I jester to Micheal to take a seat.

“Look if I had know she was your mate I never would have…” I put my hand up to stop him.

“As much as I would love to hear your excuse about the treatment of my mate at this point in time that it not what I brought you in for”. His face lights up.

“Are you making me the new Alpha??”. He asks excitedly.

“No” my voice come out firm. “ The new Alpha has yet to be decided that is why I’m still here amd I will stay here until a decision is made.No what I wanted to talk to you about where the vampire attacks. I didn’t hear about these attacks until a few days ago but by the looks of it your Alpha new about them months ago. Why wasn’t I or the council told earlier about this? And what has been done about them?”.

“At the time the vampires were only attacking humans so Alpha William said it didn’t matter. Humans are not our problem. It wasn’t until one of our own was attacked that he decided that we might need backup and notified the council. He never thought the council would notify you or that you would come here. And we haven’t really done anything about them. We have put out a few extra men on patrol but that’s it”. I rest my head on my hand.

“So you know nothing about them? Where they might be coming from?”

“No. We do think they might be looking for someone though”. I lift my head.

“What makes you say that?”.

“ The man that was killed was in one of the small towns near by on night patrol when he over heard a vampire telling another vampire how their was boss was looking for some girl. Apparently she’s very important to him and his convinced she’s in this area. He mindlinked for backup but unfortunately they didn’t get there in time. In his last few moments he did manage to relay what he had found out though his mindlink everyone heard him take his last few breaths.It was insane”

“Hmmm Thankyou. That might not be much but that’s more information then what we had.” Micheal grins. I look at him seriously.

“Now that we’ve spoken about the vampire situation let’s talk about my mate”. Michaels sinks down in his chair.

“First off I want to know about her parents?”.

“I’m not sure sir. No one but Alpha William knows. He went out on patrol one day, This was before he became Alpha and when he came back he had her with him. Said her parents were killed by vampires. That was it”. He shrugs. Hmmmm that’s odd.

“Was anyone else with him? Or did anyone else see her parents get attacked?”.

“No it was just him. The first few years before he become Alpha it was fine. She was allowed to talk and play with the other kids. As soon as Alpha Williams dad died and he took over he ordered everyone not to talk to her. He also ordered me and a few of the other unmated males to make her life as hell as possible. I’m hoping you know what I mean by that. I didn’t want to i swear and If I knew she was your mate I would have tried harder to ignore his Alpha order. I really am sorry and I would like the chance to apologise to her.” He really does look like he feels bad.

Do you think his telling the truth? I ask Sam.

We’ll I’ve spoken with a few of the other pack members about her and they have all said the same things. That they were ordered not to talk to her but no one knows why. It seems to me William was trying to isolate her. Make her feel as alone as possible.

“Thankyou for having this meeting me with me” I stand up and shake Micheals hand. He takes it before bowing and exiting the room. If I want to find out more about Emily’s past I might have to talk to William himself.
