Chapter eight

Emily:

After breakfast Joseph asked me to head back up to our room. He thought I could use a rest while he got some work done. I look down at the bed and slowly slide under the covers. I don’t know how long it’s been since I’ve slept in a normal bed. My eyes are quick to get heavy and before I know it I drift into a deep sleep. The most beautiful lady pops into my dreams. It’s the lady I’ve seen many times before but this time she seems different. Her skin is pale and her eyes dimmer.

My daughter. Im am so sorry I will not get the chance to see you grow up but I know your father will take good care of you and keep you safe. One day I will come back for you but for now it is to dangerous. I love you.

I wake up hot and sticky. It’s already dark outside. I couldn’t have been asleep for that long could I? I slide out of the bed. My body is all tingle and kinda feels like it’s on fire.

Its time. I can feel my wolfs excitement.

Time for what?

Time for our first shift. Come on we need to go outside right now. I can’t wait any longer.shouldn’t I tell someone where I’m going? Joseph might worry.

Look at you. Worried about making out mate worry. My wolf giggles at me. Don’t worry we won’t be gone long.

I quietly walk down the stairs and sneak outside. Looking up at the moon I can feel the moon goddess looking down at me. Walking deeper into the forest my bones begin to crack. The pain is excruciating as my bones snap and shift. I try not to scream as I don’t want to bring any attention to myself. Opening my eyes everything seems to have changed. My vision has gone slightly duller but my sense of smell has gotten stronger.

We did it. My wolf howls as we take off into the woods. We keep running until we reach a stream. I bend down to take a drink. Looking back at me in the reflection of the water is a large red wolf.

Wow were big.

We are. I can feel my wolf smiling. Something feels different being in the woods today. I’m feeling this pull to run deeper into the Forrest. Like something or someone is waiting for me. But I’ve already found my mate?

Amelia? Is being a wolf meant to feel like this?

Yes and no. We are wolfs so we do feel abit of a pull towards any Forrest but not normally as strong as this.

Should we follow it?

Suddenly a rotten smell hits me then rustling starts in the bushes behind me.

Run! My wolf screams. I jump over the stream and take off further into the forest. The rotten smell gets strong as I run then all of a sudden I face plant into the ground.

“Well well what do we have here?”. 3 men and a women surround me, Walking around me in circles. I give them a warning growl.

“Awww the little wolf trying to scare us away”. The women laughs cruelly.

“Maybe you can help us”. One of the men pipe up. “ Now we don’t like being in your territory and I know you guys sure as hell don’t like us being in it. So you tell us what you know then well leave”. They stop walking and the man that was talking stops in front of me. Bending down to my wolf level he looks me right in the eyes. His eyes look kinda purple in the moonlight and his blonde hair seems to glitter every so slightly.

“Our boss is looking for a girl. She would be about 18. Not 100% sure what she looks like but her eyes could possible be blue or maybe even green. You haven’t seen anyone like that around here have you?”. I shake my head. “ Are you sure? I wouldn’t want to have to kill you”. My body beings to shake in fear at the word kill. Damn it. Why didn’t I just stay back at the house?

“Get her just to shift back?”.One of the men that’s standing off to the side chirps in. “It’s impossible to get anything out of her like this”.

“You’ve got a point”. The blonde man looks back down at me. “ Go on then shift back”. I shake my head. “Hmmmm. Ross take off your shirt”. The blonde man says to man that suggested I shift back.

“What?! Why?!”.

“Because your the one that suggested she shift back and I’m not an asshole that’s gonna make her stand in front of us naked.”. Ross throws his shift over and the blonde man sits it on top of me.

“Go shift behind those bushes but don’t try anything”. The shift takes longer then expected since it was my first time shifting back and Im terrified these people are going to kill me. I step out from behind the tree and they all look at me mouths wide open.

“Bloody hell!” The man Ross says. “ She looks just like her!”. Her? Who’s her? Before anyone could say anything else 3 wolfs jump out from the bushes besides us and start growling at the group of people that were surrounding me.

Then I smell it. Rain with a hint of coconut. Joseph! A big black wolf jumps out and stands right in front of me. His growl is louder and more chilling then the others. I blink my eyes and the group of people are gone. Joseph’s wolf turns to me. I can tell his disappointment that I didn’t say in our room. The walk back to the pack house is quiet mainly cause everyone’s still in wolf form but me. Once we get back to the out skirts of the pack house everyone goes behind the trees to shift back and dress. Joseph’s the first one to emerge. I can’t tell if his mad at me or not.

“ I’m sorry”. I whisper not wanting to meet his gaze. “It’s just my wolf wanted to go for a run and I said maybe we should tell you but she said we didn’t need to since we wouldn’t be gone long”.

Great. Way to throw me under the bus now his wolfs going to be annoyed at me.

“ I’m not mad at you. I just wish you had told me and I would have come with you. Alpha and I would have loved to come with you”.

Alpha? His wolfs name is Alpha?

Yep! And his so dreamy!

“ Now let’s get that shirt off you. I don’t like my mate smelling like another male. Especially a vampire”. I blush. Wait they were vampires?! That explains a lot. As I walk with my mate all I can think about is what those vampires said. They said I look like her? Who’s her?
