The city was awash in the soft hues of the setting sun as I made my way home from the library. I loved my job, loved being surrounded by the countless tales that filled the shelves. But today, my mind was elsewhere. As I turned a corner, a strange sensation prickled at the back of my neck. I glanced around, but the street was deserted. I shrugged it off as a figment of my overactive imagination and continued on my way. That's when I saw him. He was standing in the shadow of an old, gnarled tree, his figure faintly illuminated by the glow of the streetlight. His eyes were locked on me, intense and unblinking. He was tall, regal, with sharp, handsome features. Dressed in a black suit, he seemed out of place in the quiet, rustic street. My heart skipped a beat. I had never seen him before, yet something about him felt strangely familiar. He was like a character from one of my books, mysterious and alluring. As I neared him, an inexplicable attraction pulled me closer. His gaze held mine, and I found myself unable to look away. Up close, I could see his eyes were a deep, mesmerizing blue, seeming to hold the secrets of the universe. "Good evening," he said, his voice as smooth and captivating as the rest of him. "I'm Alexander." I was momentarily stunned, caught in the gravitational pull of his gaze. "I... I'm Aurora," I managed to stammer out, feeling a blush creep up my cheeks. Why was I suddenly so nervous? "Pleasure to meet you, Aurora," Alexander said, his voice a soothing melody in the quiet evening. The way he said my name sent an unexpected shiver down my spine. I tried to make small talk, asking him if he was new in town. I thought I knew everyone in our small city, but Alexander was a mystery. His answers were vague, always steering the conversation away from himself. It was frustrating and intriguing at the same time. As the evening grew darker, the streetlights around us started to flicker on, casting long shadows that danced around Alexander. His eyes seemed to glow in the dim light, their deep blue color more intense than before. I felt a strange sense of unease, but also an undeniable curiosity. Eventually, I realized I had been standing there talking to him for what felt like hours. I excused myself, citing the late hour and the dinner waiting for me at home. Alexander nodded, his gaze never leaving mine. "Until we meet again, Aurora," he said, his voice echoing in my ears long after I had left. That night, as I lay in bed, my mind kept drifting back to Alexander. His mysterious aura, his hypnotic gaze, the sound of my name on his lips - it all felt like a dream. But as the moonlight streamed through my window, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was on the brink of something extraordinary. Alexander was constantly on my mind. He had this unique quality that I couldn't quite decipher. But I must confess, he had captured my attention. I heard a knock at my door. "Au, dinner is served. You should come out now, your father and I are about to start eating," my mother informed me. "I'll be right there, mom," I responded. Pushing my thoughts of Alexander aside, I quickly freshened up and headed downstairs to join my parents for dinner. The aroma of my mom's cooking filled the house, a comforting reminder of the simple joys of life. As we sat around the dinner table, sharing stories and laughter, I couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth. My parents, with their unconditional love and support, were my sanctuary in this ever-changing world. But even amidst the familiar chatter and the clinking of cutlery, my mind kept drifting back to Alexander. His mysterious aura, his hypnotic gaze, the sound of my name on his lips - it was like a melody that played on loop in my mind. After dinner, as I retreated back to the solitude of my room, I found myself lost in thoughts of him. The city outside my window was bathed in the soft glow of the moonlight, casting long shadows that danced in the cool night breeze. It was nights like these that I felt a strange connection with Alexander, as if we were both creatures of the night, drawn to the allure of the moon. The stars were brightly twinkling in the sky, and the howls of our dogs echoed around, behaving as if they had seen a ghost. "You should get some sleep, you have work tomorrow. I bet there'll be a lot of patients due to numerous accidents," my mother advised me. "I'm not feeling sleepy yet, mom. I'm just enjoying the stars and the moon in the sky," I responded to my mom, grinning. "Alright, but don't stay up too late, okay?" my mom said, giving me a knowing look before leaving me to my thoughts. Left alone, I found my gaze returning to the night sky. The stars seemed to twinkle a little brighter, the moon a little more radiant. As I watched, I couldn't help but think of Alexander. I wondered what he was doing at this moment. Was he too looking at the same stars, thinking of me? The thought brought a smile to my face. As the night grew deeper, the howls of our dogs seemed to grow louder. They always behaved strangely on nights like these. Their howls echoed in the quiet night, a haunting melody that added to the mystery of the night. Finally, as the clock struck midnight, I decided to call it a night. As I lay in bed, my mind filled with thoughts of Alexander, I couldn't help but feel a strange sense of anticipation. The following day, I was at the hospital bright and early to attend to a number of patients. "Good morning, Au!" Rochelle, my fellow nurse, greeted me cheerfully. "Good morning!" I returned her greeting with a smile. "I was under the impression that there would be a lot of patients today," I remarked. "There were plenty last night, by the way, haven't you heard the news?" "News, what news?" I stared at Rochelle, my brow furrowed in confusion.
