Alpha returns
My mum shouts to me yet again. “Jayla, you are going to miss their arrival, you need to get your butt up now young lady,” she bellows up the stairs. I pulled on my last trainer and legged it out of my room. My heart was flipping over. I was so excited. I jumped down the last of the stairs and ran out the front shouting at mum. “Morning mum, bye mum.” I jumped down our steps and ran as fast as I could to the pack house. I ran up the steps then stopped and turned to straighten my clothes up finger brushing my hair, hoping I at least looked presentable. I stood on the steps of the pack house looking down at the cars that were driving up. This is something that I have done since forever. My heart was beating so fast, I was waiting for my friends to arrive. Our Alpha and beta had just arrived home from being away on a business trip for 14 days. My heart lifted when I saw Jace our Alpha get out of his car. Our friend Beta Jason was already standing beside him. I watched as he walked to the other side and opened the other door. They hadn’t even looked at me yet. He offered his hand to whoever was sitting in the back. I slowly walked down the steps, then I stopped. There stood a woman. She was looking around. “Oh Jace, this place is amazing.” She wrapped her arms around Jace’s waist. He hugged her back and placed a kiss on-top of her head. “Come, my love.” as he started to walk towards me. I just stared. I mean wow, she was gorgeous, long black hair, and she was tall compared to my 5ft 4. Seriously, my mouth could hit the floor right now. As he got closer, he just smiled and carried on walking right by me; no hug, no kiss, no nothing. I turned my head as I saw their backs disappearing into the house. I just stood there frozen on the spot. What the hell just happened? He just practically ignored me. I was going to go and see him find out what was happening when beta Jason stopped in front of me. “Jayla.” My head snapped at him. “Uh w … what was that Jason? He … he and who is that woman?” “Jayla, I’m sorry.” Then he walked away. “WHAT! What the f**k is going on?” I shouted as he walked through the door. My anger surfaced. If I did something wrong, at least he could have the decency to tell me something, anything. No, no, I deserve to know what the hell is going on. I went to follow but as I got to the door it shut in my face. I just stood there. My heart sank. I couldn’t catch my breath. Jace has never treated me like that before. And who is she? Who was that woman clinging to my boyfriend? I walked back down the steps then took one last look behind me and decided to go back home. My head was down all the way home as I trudged along the road. I was totally deflated in myself. I walked in and didn’t see my mum. I walked up to my room and closed the door. I sat on my bed when the tears fell. I picked up the teddy that Jace had won for me at the fair on our first date and hugged it tightly to my chest, as I rocked myself to and fro. I opened the mind link and searched for my friend. “Rachael!” “Hey, what’s on girl?” “Uh, can you come to mine? Like now?” “Uhm sure, are you OK?” “Not really.” “I’m on my way now.” I closed the link and waited for my friend. Within seconds, I heard the front door slam open and heavy footsteps running up the stairs. I clutched the teddy so tight as my bedroom door swung open. My friend stood in the doorway. I looked up as tears were streaming down my face. “Jesus Jayla, what the f**k has happened?” She sat on the bed and put her arm around my shoulders. I sobbed, not being able to speak. More tears poured from my eyes as I thought of Jace. “Common girl tell me what’s happened?” I wiped my eyes and started to take deep breaths, releasing them slowly trying to get control of my emotions. I turned my head and looked at my friend when I closed my eyes. “I.. it’s Jace.” “What has he done?” He ignored me Rach, there was a woman with him.” “That asshole. What woman Jay? Who is she?” “I don’t know.” I plopped myself backwards on my bed, pulling Rachael down with me. “Jay, listen ok? I’m sorry you’re hurting, but you need to remember your not mates. If this woman is his mate, you need to step back. Didn’t you say you would if either one of you found your mate?” “Yeh, I know Rach, but if she is his mate, he could have just told me even through the mind link, you know?” I moved the teddy away from me. “But if she is his mate, how the hell am I supposed to see that every day, seeing them all over each other in front of me? I don’t think me and Azelea can handle that.” I looked at her. “I don’t know Jay, but you will find a way to make it work. Your strong Jay and you will find your mate soon, then you won’t even think about him.” “Huh, what like he’s done with me, you mean?” “Jay, you knew this would one day happen and that is even if she is. You knew what you were getting yourself into, you know. We all warned you.” “I know but, goddess, why did I do this?” “Do what Jay?” Jayla closed her eyes and whispered. “Fall in love with him.” “Oh goddess sake Jay, this is not good, you know,” “Rach, you’re meant to be trying to cheer me up, not not this.” She sighed, waving her hand in the air. “I’m sorry Jay, but you know it’s the truth, I could lie to you, but what would that do huh.” “I know,” she sighed. “I know you’re right.” She sat herself back up. “Common let’s go into town and grab a caramel latte. It always makes you feel better.” “I’m not in the mood.” “We’ll get in the mood. You’re not going to sit here all day and wallow in self-pity. Get ready we’re leaving.” “Jeez, when did you get so bossy? Anyway, you’re buying.” Rachael took hold of Jayla’s hands and pulled her up. “I’m buying.” Rachael c****d her eyebrow. “Well yeh upset friend here, you know.” Rachael smirked and watched Jayla go towards the bathroom. Jayla washed her face, she put on a little make-up to cover the redness of her eyes and walked out to her friend that was waiting. They both left the house and walked into town that was on the border of the packlands. They had just reached the coffee shop when the pack mind link opened. “For all pack members there will be a big announcement in the main pack hall at 4pm today. It is compulsory that you all attend. This is not a request but an order from your Alpha. I look forward to seeing you all there.” Mind link closed. “What do you think that is all about?” Jayla looked at Rachael. Rachael shrugged her shoulders. “Beats me, we will know when we go there at 4 today.” They both walked into the coffee shop and ordered their lattes. They found a table and sat down. They sat in silence for a while. Rachael didn’t fail to notice that Jayla’s mind was wandering so she decided to ask. “Uh Jay, what will you do if that woman is his mate?” “What do you mean?” “I mean do you think you will move away or what?” “Jesus Rach, I don’t know, what am I supposed to do?”
