Wolf Mountain Ranch

A Strange Land

We all called Jayla as she sprinted past us all. I had just come out of my office when i saw her run. We all ran to the main door and saw her shift mid air. Snow white with a silver half crest moon on her head. She looked at us before she bolted into the woods.

We all shouted to her so we shifted. Man could she run. She was fast. None of us could keep up with her. In the end we stopped and went back to the house. We all tried mind linking her but she had her block up. I tried to get Axel my wolf to connect to Jayla's but it failed.

We had no idea where she would of gone. Amy and Bryan was beside themselves. Amy was crying, while Bryan was trying to console her. I poured me and Bryan a drink, mom came in to keep Amy company. It wasn't until I looked out of the window towards the mountains whilst sipping my drink that I realised I knew where she would be. I quickly put my glass down and sprinted outside shifting into Axel before sprinting as fast as we could towards where I knew she would be.

Axel steadied up when we got to the base of the mountain. We shifted back and pulled on a pair of shorts that were hidden in a tree. We stash clothes everywhere around just in case. I pulled on a pair of shorts and walked up to the ridge. I was right Jayla was here.

"Amy, Bryan I found here. I'll bring her back soon." I closed the link and walked quietly towards her.

I looked down at her, she was alseep. Tear stains streaked her face in the moon light. I sat down beside her. Instinct took over and she moved and curled into me. I placed a hand around her side and let my hand just droop. I sat there watching her sleep. This young girl had gone through so much. Finding out her parents aren't her parents. Being run out of her pack pregnant. Finding out her Uncle wants her. Her breathing was even so I just left her sleep. I didn't want to disturb her. For now I will just sit here guarding her.

I was warm, comfortably warm. I could still feel the breeze rushing by. A white light appeared at the back of my mind. It got brighter as it got closer. I walked towards it and stepped through. I looked around and found myself standing in a field full of grass. A small cottage in the distance, smoke coming from it's chimney. Little rabbits hoping around the field. A stream that passed by on the edge.

The wind was gentle but warm. The sun shone down making everything look alive.

I walked to the stream and looked in. Different coloured fish were swimming up and down it. They stopped and looked up at me, I laughed gently as it looked like they were blowing bubbles at me before they swam off. I decided to walk to the cottage. I really wanted to know where I was. There was a stone pathway that led to the door, and a little wooden gate and picket fence. I walked to the door and knocked. But no one came. I looked around but there was no one around. I sighed then walked back to the stream where I saw the fish. I found a wooden log and I sat on it.

This place was very peaceful and it was tranquil. The clouds moved slowly. I looked down at my feet as I felt a small tickle, there was a baby white rabbit sitting there. It's nose running across my foot. I heard a large rustle behind me. I turned quickly as I saw a very large pure white wolf walking towards me. It stood there and shook out its fur. It was if it had just woken. It walked slowly towards me like it was a predator. But I didn't feel scared. If anything it looked familiar. I leant down and picked up the baby rabbit and held it to my chest. My breath hitched as the white wolf came closer. It sat down infront of me.

I looked at the wolf. It had a Silver cresent Moon mark ontop of it's head. It had silver markings around it's neck. It's eyes glistening of silver. I sat there looking at how beautiful this creature was. Then suddenly it bowed it's head. It kept it's head bowed as I slowly reached my hand out towards it. My hand touched it's fur and it's head sank lower. The baby rabbit kicked as if it wanted me to put it down. I lowered it and it jumped from my hand.

Then came a voice. A sweet gentle, calming voice.

"Jayla."

I turned but couldn't see anyone. The voice got closer then a bright light. I covered my eyes until the light faded. When I opened them there stood a beautiful young woman. Her hair was silver, her eyes gleamed like the moon. Her white dress flowed behind her. She gave me a dazzling smile. She took a seat beside me in the log.

"I'm Selene." she spoke gently.

"S...S...Selene? you mean rhe Moon Goddess Selene?"

Selene sat there looking at nothing in particular but gave a out a small chuckle. She turned her head to look at me before she started to talk to me.

"Jayla, by now you would have heard your story. Your father Bryan should of told you about your birth mother."

I just sat there quiet. I truly didn't know what to say. I just stared at her.

"Jayla, my child. Your gift ability is not yet activated. But your uncle wants it for himself. You musn't let him have it."

I nodded at her, but I didn't want to interupt her. Her voice was so calming and warm. The white wolf raised it's head and laid it gently on my lap. My hands raised and held mid air.

Selene gave out a small chuckle again.

"Child, do you not recognise the wolf in front of you?"

"I, uhm well no, no I don't."

My gaze fell to the wolf's head that lay on my lap. My hand slowly lowered as it rested ontop of it's head. A low rumble came from it's throat, and it's head snuggled deeper. Selene reached hef hand over and stroked it's head.

"Jayla, It's time for you to return, But remember what I have told you. Trust the Wolf Mountain Pack. They will protect you."

I watched as she rose and quietly walked into the field fading away the further she walked. The wolf raised it's head and looked to the field. She looked back at me, took a step forward and licked my hand before following Selene.

At that moment a bright light engulfed me. I felt a sudden chill and heard the wind rushing by. I smelt the fragrances from the forest below. I slowly sat up and bumped into what felt like a brick wall.

I slowly turned my head and looked up. The sat Alpha Jerry. Shirtless, his muscles even in the dark pretuded in the moonlight. My heart raced and I couldn't take my gaze off of him. He gave me a small smile.

"I knew you would come here."

"How did you know?"

"I just did. Call it intuition. Are you alright? I guess you over loaded back there."

"Hmm. you could say that. I ... I don't know what to make of it all. With everything that has happened this is alot."

"Yeh I know. Seems like you have a back ground there young wolf."

"I'm not that young."

"I know, I know, But we need to keep you safe. Jayla look at me!"

He took my hand in his.

"No matter what, I will protect you, I will do everything in my power to make sure you remain safe."

He squeezed my hand slightly. But I wasn't scared. With everything that I have learnt I am no longer afraid.
