“Oh sweetheart, what’s wrong?” as Amy put her arms around her daughter.
Jayla broke down and sobbed on her mom’s shoulder.
“Mom, it’s all gone wrong. I .. I don’t know what to do,” She cried.
“Oh baby girl, it will be fine, you hear me? Everything will be alright.”
Jayla pulled back and started to sit up. Amy helped her and sat back down.
“Come on sweetheart, everything will be OK.”
Jayla shook her head, “no mom, it won’t,” as tears fell again.
“It will sweetheart. Just hold on for one minute,” Amy got up and walked outside.
Outside beta Jason was still sitting down waiting to hear what was wrong with Jayla.
“Uh beta.”
“Amy, is she OK?”
“Beta she’s going to be fine, she had a panic attack, and she’s going through some stuff.”
“Yeh, I bet she is finding all this difficult.” He rubbed the back of his neck.
“Yes, but she will be fine beta. Uh beta, I wanted to ask you, could I take the rest of the day off? Jayla is very emotional right now, and I feel I need to be with her.”
“Of course, Amy take the next 3 or 4 days off. I’ll clear it on the rota.”
“Thank you beta Jason.”
“Uh Amy, can you tell Jayla? I hope she feels better soon.”
“Yes I will.” She smiled.
Amy opened the door and went back into Jayla. She smiled as she went in.
“Who was that mom?”
“Beta Jason, he said he hoped you will get better soon.”
Jayla nodded and looked at her mom.
“OK, what happened? Can you tell me?”
Jayla sat there twiddling with her fingers. She knew she would have to tell her mom everything. She was close to her mom and she knew she could trust her.
Amy sat down and took hold of Jayla’s hand.
Jayla took a deep breath and layed back against her pillow.
She took another deep breath and looked at her mom.
How was she going to tell her mom?
“Just tell her Jay,” Azelea told her.
“Mom,” deep breath. “I’m pregnant.”
Amy sat there looking shocked.
“Y .. your pregnant?”
Jayla nodded.
“Well, this is uh a surprise, sooo I’m thinking Alpha Jace is the father?”
“Yeh.”
Amy sat there and was deep in thought.
“Have you told him?”
“No.”
“Alright,” Amy said.
“OK, we will sort this out. But honey you do know that he has found his mate?”
“I know.”
“I think you should tell him.” Jayla’s head snapped up to her mother’s face.
“Jayla, he has the right to know,” Amy told her.
“Now common, Doctor Alex said that you can go home, so let me go find him so we can get you home.” Amy got up to go find Doctor Alex.
Jayla sat there thinking again, everything was all messed up and now this has got so complicated.
A few minutes went by and Amy and the doctor came into the room. Doctor Alex gave Jayla the once over and released her from the hospital. Amy and Jayla walked back to the house, her mother always with her arm around Jayla’s shoulder.
“We need to go to the meeting soon.”
“I’m not going.”
“You need to sweetheart the Alpha said it was compulsory. I will be there with you, so don’t worry honey.”
Jayla knew this was going to be hard. But she knew her mother was right. They got home and changed and walked slowly to the pack meeting hall.
As they walked past the pack house, Jayla and Amy saw a car pull up and saw Alpha Abel and Luna Shelby, Jace’s parents. Obviously, they had come for the meeting today. There on the top step were Jace and the woman she saw. Luna Shelby hugged her tightly. Jayla turned away and walked into the meeting hall. They found her father, who was standing at the side of the hall. They approached him and stood beside him.
“Hi peanut.” He smiled at Jayla.
“Hi dad.”
“Are you ok love?” he asked Amy.
“Yeh, I am fine.” She smiled at him.
More and more pack members started to fill in to the hall. After a few minutes, Alpha Jace walked out on stage.
Everyone went silent.
“Thank you for coming this afternoon. Now as you were aware, 14 days ago I went on a pack summit. Well there I found my mate.” The people cheered and clapped.
Alpha Jace waited for cheering to settle down.
“So pack members of the Forest Green Pack, may I present to you your future Luna, Miss Brianna Andrew’s, sweetheart, can you come out to me?”
Everyone was cheering loudly as their new Luna started to walk out onto the stage, followed by Alpha Jace’s parents.
She looked beautiful. Her black hair long and shiny going down her back, she wore a dark green emerald floor-length dress v neck line down to her stomach. Along the hem of the dress was sparkling with medium-cut diamonds. She came out smiling at everyone.
The people went silent as she stood in front of the microphone.
“Thank you everyone, I am so happy to be here. I will do my utmost best to be the best Luna I can be for you all,” she told them. Jace moved closer to her and pulled her into a hug.
Jace turned and took the pack's' attention. “ There is a party straight after, so please eat, drink and be merry and help us celebrate the arrival of your new Luna.” He took hold of Brianna’s hand and walked off of the stage.
Everyone moved out through the doors to the outside garden to start the celebration party. As Jayla and her parents walked out into the garden, they were surprised by the decorations in the garden. There were tree lights, streamers and lanterns all around. There was so much food laid out on the tables. But there at the front of the garden stood Alpha Jace and Luna, Brianna and Jace’s parents. Jayla didn’t want to go and greet them, but she knew she had to, and she wouldn’t seem weak in front of Jace. Jayla’s parents approached them all first and congratulated their Alpha. Next was Jayla’s turn.
Jayla bowed to her Alpha and Luna,
“Welcome to the pack Luna Brianna.”
“Thank you. And you are?”
“My name is Jayla, and I am a warrior after my parents.”
“Well it’s nice to meet you Jayla.”
Jayla gave a half smile at Luna Brianna and turned to walk away back to her parents, who were waiting. Jace watched Jayla walk away from them. She hadn’t spoken to him or even looked at him. It didn’t sit right with him, but he was there to help everyone celebrate Brianna’s arrival.
He looked over to where Jayla and her parents stood, but they were looking the other way.
After Jace and Brianna had greeted everyone, Brianna was standing around talking to Jace’s parents. Jace went back inside to change. He hated the suit that he was wearing. Jayla saw him leave and decided to go and tell him.
She followed him into the pack house, and he walked up the stairs to his room. Jayla followed, always looking making sure no one was watching her enter the floor of the Alpha.
His door was ajar, and he had changed into his jeans. She took a deep breath and knocked on the door and pushed it open.
“Jayla, what are you doing here?”
“I need to talk to you.”
“Jayla, it’s over, I have my mate now.”
“I know, but it’s not about that,” as she walked towards him.
“No Jay please, this has to stop now. You have to get used to seeing us together.”
Jayla reached out her hand and held his arm.
“Please Jace, it’s not about that.”
Suddenly the atmosphere became heavy,
GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF MY MATE.”
Jayla turned around as Brianna strode forward. She clasped hold of Jayla and flung her to the wall.
