Chapter 17

Belli's P.o.v

I sat up from the comfortable bed, I smelled something out of place… familiar yet threatening to someone I love. I got up and pulled on a shirt and loose shorts over my underwear, I walked out of the room and took a second to look around at the home from the second floor. ‘Kai darling, where are you?’ I started to walk downstairs when I heard Sunflower call out to me, “auntie Belli, mommy, daddy and me are going to daddy’s home. I’m gonna be a princess!” She puffed out her chest with pride and I smiled at her but inwardly scowled, ‘Belli love, me and Axius are preparing our warriors, the vampires are coming to force my sister and our niece to that damned place. And it'll be over my dead body before they're taken away from us. Can you tell mother what's happening? She's in the study, please love.’ I grabbed Sunflower’s hand and pulled her downstairs to the study then knocked on the door, after a few seconds Cahyra opened it. Quickly I told her what was happening, she growled which made me shake, Sunflower had her head bowed down but only glanced up at me. "They what? There will be hell to pay before they take my child to a vampire nest where she'll surely be killed, even if she is my daughter." She stormed past us as we quickly followed after her, before the day ends… there will be blood shed on both sides.

Kai's P.o.v

I passed the training grounds on my way to the border that they’ll be coming through, Axius was waiting at the border with the rest of the warriors. ‘Jeez, your anger and nerve is all I can feel anymore. Calm down, remember what father always says…’ my sister's mindlink was all I could hear, and in sync we said our father’s words we’ve heard all our lives. ‘A good warrior is a calm warrior.’ I heard her laugh then all was silent, I took her advice and calmed down waiting for all hell to break loose. “Kai, our best runners spotted them, they’re almost here. Are we really about to fight them?" A boy about my age asked as he walked up to me, after careful thought not letting my anger getting the best of me I pat him on the shoulder. "We will try to resolve this peacefully, but if we can't… then we will fight. For the sake of the pack." I said softly, wishing for a miracle, "Belli told me what was going on, how dare they think I'll let them leave with my child with them, there will be hell to pay." Everyone within hearing range froze at my mother's words, my father was a strong wolf without a doubt… but mother was the one everyone feared. She had never lost a single fight she'd been in and always put down her enemies within seconds, even in her human form she could take down an enemy just as quick. All wolves, friend or foe would freeze in fear when she took on that tone of voice, it wasn't straight murder but… it was quite intimidating. An average sized gray wolf came running toward the border, he shifted and pulled some pants on. He came up to us, and bowed and looked at me, after a few seconds his name popped into my head, "Henry, is it time?" I asked, the other warriors looked at him, slowly he nodded and turned to the side. "Kai… ma'am… we're outnumbered dozens of times over. And the queen was with them… it looks like a fight is inevitable…" he bowed again then walked to the front of the border. I sighed softly and turned towards mother, "mom… it's a fight I guess. Where is Belli and Sunflower?" I asked calmly, hoping they were somewhere safe and not out in the open. "They are waiting at home, Belli wanted to come with me and fight but I had to remind her she was pregnant and should stay with Sunflower. Then Sunflower wanted to come and it was a mess. But they are at home and they promised they would stay.” 

Kari’s P.o.v

‘Sunflower honey, what’s going on at home?’ Rose held my hand tightly, I could tell she was worried. 'Kai and grandma are ready to fight, along with everyone else. I'm scared daddy.' I tensed up a bit, even though we aren't biologically related she became our daughter, we could feel her fear. She was scared of losing her family, she had just become secure… it would be hell if she lost that security yet again. Rose leaned against me, 'it is okay Sunflower, things will be fine. No one will get hurt if I have anything to do with it, that's a promise.' Rose said in our mind link, I felt her rage growing and saw her Wolf fighting for control of her. I held her hand tightly, making her look at me with her eyes slowly turning black, I kissed her gently 'Rose, Lucifer, both of you… we'll all be safe if I have anything to do with it.' As I pulled back I saw the black fading from her eyes, she smiled at me then nodded… 'Mommy, daddy... please hurry back.' Slowly Rose took a deep breath, calming herself down. "We're almost there, get ready to pack up and come home.” Astrid had said to us, looking at the backseat of the Van, staring at me mostly. We took the last turn to enter the pack when the driver slammed on the brakes, after a second I looked at the windshield and gasp. The whole pack was there, besides the children and Belli, “well then… here we are.” I said with a grin on my face.

Rose’s P.o.v

 ‘Kai be careful, these people are serious about taking us back to Kari’s home, I know they will stop at no cost to bring us there.’ I quickly mind linked Kai, slowly everyone got out of our van and the others behind us. “We are not looking for a fight, but we will if needed, we will be taking our king and queen home like it or not. Now what will it be?” Astrid spoke loud enough for everyone to hear, all the pack tensed but didn’t back away, it was my mother that broke the silence that settled around all of us, with a growl she mumbled, “over my dead body, you will not be taking my daughter and grandchild away from us.” The pack growled in response, they would all die to protect me and Sunflower. Astrid seemed to find that response a threat and some of the guards shifted, others hissed then some had stepped toward the border ready to take us by force. “Honestly, you wolves and vampires are exhausting. No offense to my companion of course." The witch's voice rang out in the middle of the night, Artemis… followed by Émeline..? Artemis's blue eyes seemed to be glowing with anger, an unfamiliar wolf was beside her, which had to me Émeline since she never walked with another wolf aside from Sunflower. I've never seen such a wolf before, it was as large as my mother and I when we shifted into our wolves, her fur wasn't one solid color either, it was spotted and striped with gray, brown and black. "My companion and I have looked into many different possibilities of how tonight will go, and fighting will kill either the future King or Queen. Both sides will lose someone they love if you fight, now we shall all calm down and solve this peacefully… right?" 

Kai's P.o.v

That short bullfrog of a Witch just told us to calm down and solve this peacefully? Artemis had chosen the wrong time to talk of peace, it didn't take an i***t to be able to sense mother's rage. I know she sensed it cause she flinched a bit, "Artemis…." She growled out, we were all waiting for it. All of us were ready for her to explode at any second, "...that's a great idea! Yes let's talk peacefully. Come now Astrid and former Queen, kids. Let's talk. Back to your homes everyone, Axius you'll be coming with us." Mother's voice rang out in a cheerful tone, and that was most frightening of it all.
