Chapter 16

Rose's P.o.v

"What happened? Is…" a familiar voice called out, Sunflower? "...damage your body and die one day…" there's the witch...Émeline? She's scolding my daughter again, I twitch a bit then fall into darkness again. Ticking? Why do I hear ticking? Slowly I opened my eyes then let my eyes adjust to the blinding light in whatever room I was in, after a few seconds I see it’s my room with the curtains pulled open with the window opened. I look around for the ticking and see Sunflower next to me wearing a watch, Axius’s watch? Her eyelids flutter gently as she turned to face the wall, I wait for her to sit up and look at me. When she did her eyes widened then she sprung at me then wrapped her arms around my neck and she sniffled, “mommy you’re okay? I was scared my healing didn’t do anything to you, you’ve been asleep for a few days. Are you doing better now?” ‘MOMMY’S AWAKE DADDY!’ Sunflower screamed into our mind link, I cringed at the echo from her scream but hug Sunflower tightly. Then Kari ran in and froze in the doorway, tears started streaming down his face as he came over and hugged the both of us. “I’m so happy, I have both of my girls back in perfect health. Rose, baby are you okay now?” I smiled a little and stretched a bit, “sore from laying in a bed for a few days straight, and really hungry.” I said softly, my voice a little hoarse and scratchy when I spoke, Sunflower laughed and Kari smiled at me, “of course you are, the first thing you think of is food and soreness huh? That’s funny.” I sat on the edge of my bed for a second then stood up, my knees gave out for a second, making me stumble but was able to walk. I turn to face them and smile at them proudly, “see Sunflower? I’m fine, now let's go get some food." A few days pass with everyone paying close attention to me and acting like I needed a babysitter, I didn't mind much though. I knew they were all scared for me and worried I really wasn't fine, but it was all to protect Belli and Kai, for them I'd do it all over again if I had to, especially if it meant keeping the pack's structure the same. 

Kai's P.o.v

Kari approached me a few hours ago, he explained that Rose was cold to him but he couldn't figure out why, I nodded and sat down to explain it to him. "If I wasn't her brother who has a very special bond to Rose, I would be in the dark as much as you are. She's annoyed of being cooped up and pampered like a baby, she's annoyed with everyone keeping close to her after the incident. You have to keep in mind she is a big girl and knew what she was doing when she defended me and Belli… I think instead of being over protecting you should take her out on the town. See where the night takes you, and before you ask no we won't be coming… Belli's having worse and worse morning sickness, mother says its normal for wolves to be that sick when pregnant with their pups but we’re worried about her. Just take her out and let her do whatever she chooses, have a good date night, me and Axius will watch Sunflower.” I had got up and left, ‘Axius come to the house, help me babysit Sunflower?’ Barely a second later he was knocking on the door. Hours pass since they left and even Axius hasn’t gotten Sunflower to play, “come on crimson beauty, you can’t just sit there like a droopy flower on the verge of death. We know you miss them but they aren’t gone forever, just a few more hours… oh I know. Want to hear stories of your mom when she was your age? Or perhaps want some training for a wolf warrior?” Axius said, I looked at him like the mad man he was for offering either to her, Rose hates those stories he tells about her, and She may need to learn to protect herself but she was still really young to learn such a difficult training routine. Sunflower perked up and walked over to Axius, "you'll train me? Really?" I shook my head but didn't protest, I want to see how this plays out.

Rose's P.o.v

Kari surprised me with a date, where I could make all the choices and he would roll with anything. I quickly got dressed up and grabbed my purse, I knew Sunflower was a bit depressed when we left, so I told Kai to ask over Axius to watch her with him. I drove my father's car into town and we had walked around, watched a few movies and decided to get food, we walked into a fancy italian place. I kept feeling emotional changes in Kai and Sunflower, I felt all the shock, happiness and worry and it took a lot of effort to keep my mouth shut about going back. All of these feelings were over getting intense, but I just cut them off from me as we were shown to our table wanting to enjoy this evening as much possible, "how has your evening been so far young lady?" Kari asked as he grabbed my hand and kissed it, I find myself blushing and smiled at him, "it's been the best evening in a while… thank you for taking me out Kari." He nodded and kissed my hand one more time before letting it go, our waitress came over and only looked at Kari. It looked like she was blushing while looking at him, “w-what can I get you sir?” Before he responded a low growl escaped my lips and made her look at me, “we’ll have two bowls of spaghetti with meatballs, my fiance and I.” I emphasized fiance and sent a glare her way, letting her know I caught her look and it did not please me, “right away ma’am. I shall send it out soon.” Human or not she knows to back down to me without argument, humans also have that animalistic sense of survival or else she would’ve been dumb to challenege me. I looked at Kari as she scurried off then smiled at his loving gaze and warm smile, “it was annoying me too. I’m glad to see what’s mine defend what’s hers.” After some light conversations the food was brought out to us and I’d just began to dig in when a commotion brought my attention to the front of the restaurant, suddenly all kinds of men marched in the room covering all edges of the room then approached our table. Some men didn't make eye contact with either of us, others only looked at me, "Kari Fang Vanpir, you have been ordered to come home. It is your turn to be crowned as king, we will escort you to gather your things, you and the lovely lady will be taken care of until the coronation." A young woman's voice had said, she came forward and I gasped to myself for she was absolutely beautiful. She had dark skin, like a decently toasted marshmallow with bright blue hair as a stark contrast to her skin, "Astrid… who do you think this lady is that you addressed improperly? She is your future queen, so address her as such. Got it?" He growled as he stood up, unsure if it was my imagination he seemed taller, I stood up and walked to his side, “Kari, calm down, let’s go home. Sunflower will be worried about us.” He looked at me and relaxed, he walked over to a waiter watching the scene unfolding around him and said something I couldn’t understand, after a second he came back then put our food in to go containers and handed them to us, Kari in turn gave him a hundred dollar bill and told him to keep the change. He grabbed my hand and pulled us to the forest with them following behind us, ‘Sunflower, me and mommy are on our way home. We're moving to daddy's home and you'll be a princess.'
