Chapter 19

Kari’s P.o.v

With her response, an explosion of mixed responses flew around the room. Some loved the idea, others were shocked and stunned to the extent that they couldn’t even speak. Cahyra looked at Astrid, Astrid stared at her with a dumbfounded look. “Y-you…” Astrid mumbled softly, forcing those mumbling to another to shush up in an instant. “You would let us have land, and you wouldn’t kill us or kick us off the land?” Astrid and the rest of the vampires leaned forward in anticipation of her answer, even I leaned forward a bit to hear her words. A vampire has not owned land in over 3,000 years and this Luna of The Moonlit Bat pack has just offered us some of her land and all the land beyond her border, Cahyra frowned for the first time since we got back from our date that ended early thanks to Astrid. I noticed every wolf in the room relax when she frowned, even Rose relaxed when her mom frowned. ‘Why is everyone so relaxed after Cahyra frowned?’ I asked Rose in the mind link, she smiled a bit and held my arm tightly, ‘something you should know about my parents is… my father may be alpha, and they are the feared one out of the mated pair of the pack leaders… but my mother is the one everyone fears in the pack’s leaders. Not only is she the most powerful she-wolf in America, and one of the strongest Luna's worldwide… She acts cheerful and sweet to hide her murderous intent, so that the enemy only senses the happiness. A smart approach, but also risky.' Rose responded, I was rather shocked about her strategy to hide her rage behind happiness. She was right, it was a risk she played around with, like trying to tame a wild beast or play with fire without getting burned, "of course you can have some of the pack's land. We would adjust the border accordingly so that you may have your space, but I must warn you there is a reason why the land around our pack isn't claimed by another pack..." Cahyra paused and looked at every vampire in the room, making sure they were all listening to her. "That land has never been explored by a pack wolf as far as I know, the land is uncharted and no one knows what creatures live in there. But you vampire will have a field day with the shifters that live there, they are rejected from their separate clans and packs. You wouldn't have to go far to hunt and would have the support from the Moonlit Bats pack, should you need it. But, you would be moving many families to a new uncharted territory with unimaginable dangers that could strike at any time." Suddenly there was a crash, everyone looked at the doors and they stared at who interrupted this meeting. 

Belli's P.o.v

Kai wrapped his arms around me and growled at the person at the door, I saw Kari do the same thing to Rose and hissed out. It was a woman, with purple dyed hair doubling over and panting at the door. After she caught her breath she stood up and looked up at everyone, she had bright green eyes, mocha skin and a serious face. Everyone remained silent and she looked around the room and stopped at Sunflower, her eyes narrowed and she took a step toward her. "You! How are you still alive?" In a second Kari stood in front of Sunflower, and I shoved her back. "Who the hell are you, talking to my niece like that?" She frowned at me and crossed her arms, "who are you? She is supposed to be dead. Duh. Now move little girl, I have a job to finish." Rose passed me and had that girl by the throat, pressed against the wall, "My daughter, will not be killed by a b***h like you. She is a little girl! SHE HASN'T HAD A CHANCE AT LIFE YET, SHE ISN'T EVEN EIGHT YEARS OLD YET!" Rose started shouting at this stranger and started to squeeze her neck, the stranger stared at Rose and started to shake in fear and lack of oxygen. Before I could stop myself I separated them and held Rose down, seeing her eyes start to go black just like I feared. "Rose NO! Shut Lucifer down right now! Sunflower is safe, look at her. Look!" Kari had held the strange woman down and taken her out of the house, Rose struggled and struggled under my strength, but finally looked at Sunflower. Then the black filled eyes that meant death finally faded to her usual gray blue beauty, "well… we've all had a very long night, and we all need rest. I'll have some guards take shifts to watch the woman, and we all can discuss this after Rose, Belli and Kai get home from school. I'll show you vampires to the guest house, everyone else knows where they need to be, good night everyone." Cahyra said softly, walked out of the room with a sigh and had every vampire following her out. I let go of Rose and she helped me up, "come on Belli, we got a long day ahead of us tomorrow. Let's all go to bed, and… hope school goes better than it has been." I nod and hug Rose gently, she'll never understand how much her support means to me. Ever since word got out at school that I was pregnant, everyone tried to make my life a living hell… every human that was once jealous of me now would corner me and call me names. Rose had a lot of trouble protecting me from it all, but she never waver or take the humans side. It helped that the principal was her uncle, today we had an assembly that every student was required to attend, we know its about me and bully prevention. But I had a feeling something else would happen, something unexpected would happen. Perhaps I was being paranoid, but I would stay on guard all day in case… Me, Kai, Rose and Sunflower walked out of the office and upstairs. We all parted ways down the hall to our separate rooms and said goodnight, "Kai… who do you think that woman was?" We walked in the room, and Kai shut the door behind us. "How did she smell, did her blood smell good?" He asked in turn, I paused and thought for a second. I smiled and licked my lips, "smelled yummy… why? Do you think I can have a small sip?" The way Kai was looking at me, I knew my eyes were glowing red. I looked away and crawled into bed, feeling really exhausted and hungry. "If her blood smelled that good, to the point you are hungry… it means one thing…" I looked at him and scooted closer to Kai, licking his neck. "It means… she's of the Phoenix clan." He mumbled as I sunk my fangs into his neck. 

Rose's P.o.v

Sunflower held my hand as we walked into my room, usually Sunflower stays in the room across from ours, but after tonight she's sleeping in here with me and Kari. "Mommy… why did your eyes go all black like that?" She finally asked the question I was hoping she wouldn't ask, it's embarrassing as the strongest Alpha's daughter to not have control over her wolf. "You know, us wolves shift at any age when our wolf decides to show itself in our minds, not when puberty hits… I was one of the youngest to shift in wolf history, I was nine years old." Sunflower gasped, and it wasn't hard to see why. Wolves are usually rumored to shift for the first time at the same time as puberty hits, or at 17+ years of age. Lucifer showed up the day after my ninth birthday party, and within the hour I shifted into a dark brown wolf. "That dress you wore when you first got here, was the dress I wore the day before I shifted. And shifting at such a young age means that us wolves can't control the wolf side, and I… To this day I can't control Lucifer, it's an embarrassment to bear the last name Moon, signifying I'm the daughter of the strongest Alpha if I can't control my other half." I let my head drop and sigh softly, "no mommy, it's not your fault. My other daddy's sister was the same, she couldn't control her wolf. She changed at this many." I looked up and saw she held up eight fingers, "she couldn't control her wolf until her daddy straightened her up. And I know that you can control your wolf mommy. If she could then you can!" Sunflower exclaimed and hugged me, I held her and sat there in silence. I didn't know what to say, her aunt also shifted at such a young age and struggled like me? Suddenly Sunflower yawned and crawled into the bed, I smiled and crawled in with her. "Goodnight mommy…" she said softly, "goodnight Sunflower." I mumbled back as I fell into a dreamless sleep. -Knock, Knock, Knock- I turned to my side, ignoring the annoying sound, -Knock, Knock, Knock- I sat up and glanced at the alarm clock to my right,  4:32 AM the clock read. Who could be knocking at the door at this hour? I looked over at my left and saw Kari and Sunflower fast asleep, I wondered when Kari got back… I changed clothes and walked to my door, -Knock, Knock- I opened the door before a third knock could echo through the room, "....dad?" I said softly, formed more like a question than a statement. There stood my father, half covered by shadows. "Rose… follow me." He then turned and walked quickly down the hall, I shut the door and had to run to catch up to him, "dad, where are we going so early?" I asked softly, he didn't answer and only walked faster. He reached the front door and left it open for me, I paused at the opening of the door and looked outside, "Rose, come on. Follow me." Father called out to me, I sigh softly and shut the door behind me, we walk through the small town that was our pack. "Dad, seriously where are we going?" He kept walking then paused for a second, "the forest." He finally answered me, we walked into the forest and he finally started talking. "Your mother told me what happened last night, I wish I could've been there and I regret leaving to visit another pack." "Dad don't do that, you had to see the other pack, they needed your assistance."  He scoffed and shoved his hands in his pant pockets, "the other packs don't matter much if my borders are compromised to the point strangers can just walk in and threaten my family." He growled out, if I wasn't his daughter and was just another member of the pack, I'd have frozen or cower in fear. I just shrugged it off and kept walking, "we have her in the pack jail, and mom had everyone take shifts to watch her. But.. What does this have to do with going into the forest at four in the morning?" He kept walking for a bit longer until we reached a clearing, he stopped when we entered the clearing and he turned to face me, "this has everything to do with Lucifer. Even after all these years you cannot control her?" Dad asked in all seriousness, I stopped in my tracks and stared at him. “N-no dad I can control her, that woman just pissed me off talking like she would kill Sunflower. She’s my daughter, not even a few minutes ago you were angry that someone threatened your family.” My father shook his head at me, “the difference is I can control Faust, you can’t control Lucifer. And I know you are lying to me, know how? You start stuttering when you lie, why lie to me instead of asking me for help?” ‘NO!’ Lucifer howled in my head, I silence her and look at my father, “yes, I struggle with her sometimes of course. But everyone has their moments with struggles, it doesn’t mean that I don’t have control on her and it certainly doesn’t mean coming into the forest at 4:30 in the morning.” I turned away and started to walk away, “what, you scared of her? Is my daughter cowering from a challenge?” ‘Is he..Is he picking a fight with us?’ Lucifer growled out, she demanded to be let in control, “hah! You are struggling with her right now, it is further proof you cannot control her. Is that weakness? Are you being weak right now?” He taunted me, I know what he is doing. I won’t let him get to me, I am not weak. “Ignoring me huh? Well of course you are, you have to use all of your focus to keep that reckless wolf in check. Come on Lucifer, since your such hot s**t show me what you got.” Before I could hold her back she thrusted herself forward and shifted in an instant. 

Lucifer’s P.o.v 

Father and Alpha? Doesn’t matter, he poked at the wrong wolf. He must be taught a lesson, NOW! I growl out loudly, all the early morning creatures starting to stir from slumber have all paused to hold their breathing. He only grinned at me and crossed his arms, “ooh, so scary! Big bad little wolf is throwing a tantrum. Sooo scared.” He smiled mockingly at me, the girl was fighting for control but I pushed her back. My fight. I lunge at the man, no longer seeing him as blood. Damn! Missed him. Lunged again, he pushed me back and yawned. I growled fiercely, stronger and more animalistic than before. “Yes, show your anger. Doesn’t help that you can’t land a blow on me.” He laughed, lunged again, yes! I got his blood under my claws, he raised an eyebrow at me, “very good. Now Rose, take control and show her who’s boss.” NO… you are dealing with me. I growled and he froze. Lunge again, pain. I whimper as I get up, thrown against a tree. 'Lucifer, we can't beat him as separate individuals. We need to work together. I know we've had our differences but it's time we both grow up and win.' She's right… finally this little girl has grown up… she can finally handle me. A warm feeling rushes over me as me and the girl bond. Together we stand and face father, I hadn't realized he had already shifted, he growled at me. Back down? Never! I respond, he tilted his head and took a step back. We stepped forward and growled at him, he stepped forward… then all of a sudden it happened so fast, we were at each others throats. He bit my hind leg and I gripped the back of his neck, making him freeze as I claw at his eyes. 

Kari’s P.o.v

I sat up, something was different… I look to my right and see the alarm clock reading 5 AM, I look to my left and see Rose is gone. I crawl out of the bed and look outside, it’s still dark outside… where is she? I looked at Sunflower and took a deep breath, I was uncomfortable leaving her all alone. I walked over to the bed then picked her up gently, she barely stirred as she curled up in my arms, I smiled as I walked to Kai’s room and knocked gently so as to not wake anyone else in the house. Belli opened the door and gave me a questioning look, “hey Rose is missing and I don’t feel comfortable leaving Sunflower alone, is it okay if I leave her with you?” Belli nodded and stepped to the side letting me walk into the room, she pulled the couch toward us and to my surprise she unfolded the pull out feature of the couch, she took Sunflower from my arms and put her on the couch. “Don’t worry, I’ll watch her. Go find Rose, and don’t do anything reckless or dangerous okay?” I nodded and left the room quickly, I had no idea where to start to look for her because she was not in the house. Mating fully and marking her masked her scent with mine, and my scent was gone from the house but was around not too long ago. Reluctantly I tapped into my inner power that all vampires had, if we’ve tasted someone’s blood we can tell exactly who they are if they are bleeding, and can tell where they are. Almost immediately I could smell her, it invoked rage I hadn’t felt in a long time because she was hurt and bleeding in the nearby forest, quickly I ran downstairs and into the forest. Within a few seconds I reached where her blood was and I couldn’t believe my eyes, she was fighting a male wolf I couldn’t recognize. I growled out and the fighting stopped, Rose looked at me and whined softly as she limped to me. “Who is that?” ‘My father.’ I looked at the male and stepped toward him, “You would do that to your own daughter? She is barely able to walk! I ought to teach you a lesson.” I rolled my sleeves up and advanced toward him, he didn’t back down and I was glad he didn’t, which meant a decent challenge for me. He suddenly lunged at me, I grinned as he did this and grabbed him by the throat then threw him against a tree.
