Chapter 2

2015 Words
Still a little sleepy, Natasha stepped out of her room. She had returned late yesterday from her last mission and had slept accordingly long. However, loud voices reaching her ears disturbed her sleep and made her leave the bed. With a slightly irritated look, she arrived after a few meters in the living room and saw her teammates who had gathered in the room and were loud at the discussion. Slightly beaten to death by the hustle and bustle of the morning, she cleared her throat after a few seconds, as none of the others had noticed her so far. Immediately the five men fell silent and turned their heads to her. "Morning," she murmured, moving her gaze to the couch Clint, Bruce and Thor were already sitting in. Tony and Steve were the only ones standing, but as soon as she dropped them, both men immediately started to discuss again and her words sounded suspiciously after a quarrel. "Morning," Clint greeted her softly, giving her a little more room to sit right beside him, "what's going on here?" She whispered to him, watching the scene. "The two are arguing. He whispered, putting an arm around her so he could pull her close, wearing one of the t-shirts she had popped out of his closet and he could not help grinning at the sight, because it was way too big for her, but she looked so sleepy still beautiful. She rolled her eyes: "And of course that's not possible any other place than the living room?" "You know the answer," he said only, but she made her understand that the answer was "no." They both knew and were well aware of Tony and Steve's arguments, which dismissed the men as simple discussions Although they sometimes made a joke of it and then made bets on who would win in the end, because the other either gave up or stormed out of the room angrily. "This time, Steve was concentrating on the two brawlers, but Natasha drew all his attention." She folded her arms across her chest and looked a little hurt. It was not a pleasant thought that all of the Avengers, apart from theirs, had been brought to this meeting. "Steve wanted to throw that as well, but then Tony started arguing with him, so I decided I could sleep a bit to even get into the subject then of course I would have woken you up right away, but you are Just got home late yesterday that I thought ... " But he did not get any further, as she put a finger on his lips: "All right, Clint." Somehow it was really cute how he cared and thought about her. A soft smile appeared on her lips: "Thank you for letting me sleep." Now he smiled reassured and turned his eyes back to the spectacle. "I really do not want to get involved now," Bruce began, a little hesitantly, "but I'm starting to say what it's all about. "If not, I'd like to go back to the lab." Especially since the rest of the team lacked the latter. So she clapped her hands to finally get Steve and Tony's attention: "Guys!" And it actually works. Both turned their heads to her and looked at her a little puzzled. "Romanoff? When did you go over there? "Stark pointed with his hands a little confused from the door frame, where she had previously stood, to the sofa, whereupon she replied with a slightly annoyed eye roll:" Can we please come to the actual topic? You'll be able to discuss that later! "Her lack of sleep was evident in these words, and she finally wanted to know why Steve had called them all. Steve nodded and looked around the table, "Alright then let's start, it's a decision I can not make on my own, and I need your consent because it will affect us all." Interested she looked at the blonde. He really knew how to make it exciting and talked well about the bush. "Come to the point, Rogers," Clint said next to her, giving Rogers a warning look, punching him in the side with his elbow, but knowing that he was actually saying exactly what they were all watching. "N-Well," Steve suddenly sounded a little confused and hesitantly looked around the table, apparently trying to talk to them about something that was personally very important to him. "It's about my best friend Bucky." "Oh God," came Tony, when he heard the name: "No matter what. I'm against it. "Steve sighed and Natasha literally saw his heart drop in. Immediately, the man with whom she got along pretty well felt sorry for her. Although the name did not evoke any really good memories from her. After all, at their first meeting in the 21st century, he shot another person through them. And then there was her past in the Red Room, which she shared with him in large part. But she knew he could not remember it and her. Because he had been subjected to brutal brainwashing over and over again, depriving him of all his memories. At the thought she felt a sting in the heart and therefore tried to push those thoughts aside as much as possible. To distract herself a little, she smiled encouragingly at Steve. After all, he had not had the chance to explain what it was all about. So far, only one name had fallen. "He wants to remember his past, so he asked me for help," Rogers said, continuing her encouragement effort, "and what does that have to do with us?" Bruce asked the first matter-of-fact question. "I agreed to help him," he began to answer the question, "and I think it would be a good idea for him to come to the Tower with us." "What ?!" Tony shouted at once, shaking his head firmly, "Just over my corpse." Automatically the young woman clenched as well, Steve did not really want the Winter Soldier to live with them! Clint noticed her Reaction to these words immediately and stroked her reassuringly on the back, leaning over to quietly ask, "Is everything all right?" Natasha swallowed and wanted to nod, but her body did not allow it, so she just Clint was the only Avenger to know her past, knowing that she had known Bucky before she came to SHIELD. "Is that safe?" Clint asked loudly and looked at Steve seriously: "After all, he was not necessarily peaceful towards us in the past. He even attacked you at first. How should we know that something like that can not just happen again? "Bruce and Thor nodded in agreement, as this was a legitimate question, as they both had little to do with the Winter Soldier himself, but enough of the others especially Tony, who did not shed light on the other man. Steve swallowed hard, "Back then he was under the control of HYDRA and had no memories of me or anything else from his past, but he has really changed, especially since he knows who I am again To make him good for people and experiences from his past and to give him security, that's why I want him to live here, so I can guarantee that he will stay safe so he can finally find his own place in this century and you, who helped me find the right way in this time, but he only has me, or do you not trust me? " She knew it was true, what he said. At that time he had the topic and thus an employment, which he could pursue. And besides, he could remember everything. As it was for Bucky, they all could not even begin to imagine. Besides, it seemed that Bucky was calmer when he was with Steve, whom he knew well, and would never appear to be dangerous in any way. That's why it would be the right decision, but something inside it was against it. There were just so many memories of the new Bucky attacking and hurting her that could not be offset by the few good experiences she'd had with him since he returned. "Let the trust out there, Rogers," Tony said, "That's a really lousy number." However, the group overheard him more or less on purpose. "How about we just vote it? Then everyone can contribute his opinion and if the majority is in favor, we can give it a try, "suggested the bespectacled banner, earning an annoyed sigh from Stark." Yeah, that sounds reasonable, "Thor said Word, who had consistently been silent before, and looked over at Clint and Natasha. "Alright," Clint replied, while Natasha nodded hesitantly. "Well, who is in favor of Bucky getting in here?" Steve started the vote immediately, apparently unable to wait for the result, hesitantly looking around at the redhead and waiting to see who was coming in. Steve's hand jumped in immediately the altitude, while Bruce and Thor hesitated, then raised their hands as well. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Tony roll his eyes and start pacing in the background. "And who's against it?" He grunted, looking hopefully at Barton and Romanoff. She could feel Clint's gaze on him, knowing that he had noticed her doubts and was unsure of what she wanted. "Nat?", He asked quietly and she bit her lower lip, the redhead did not want to influence her best friend but let him make his own decision, which is why she just shrugged her shoulders, then he tilted his head a little crookedly and studied, before raising his hand. Once again Tony's voice rang out, while he raised his own hand: "Thank you, Barton, you seem to be the only one who can still think clearly here." She swallowed when she realized that it was now three to two, so that the final decision now depended on her. If she agreed, he would move in here and speak out against it, it was balanced again and there was no decision. "Tasha?" Steve asked softly, making her raise her head to look at him, and he looked pleadingly at her and immediately she felt guilty, it was really important to her friend and she probably would not act otherwise if Clint would be at Bucky's place. However, she did not know how she would not react to seeing her like she did or how she could handle living with him. After all, she remembered her common past quite well, though most of the time successfully repressed those memories, while he did not even know her name. This thought felt like a kick in the pit of his stomach. But how was one to feel when suddenly the man was back, whom one had once loved, but who could not remember her love or herself. "Romanoff," Tony spoke to her and looked at her seriously: "Do not f**k, sweetheart." She had to resist an annoyed rolling of eyes, but she could not help but toss him a dirty look, so he did not worry really that she spoke up for him. "I abstain," she said in a firm voice, meaningfully looking at both Steve and Tony to tell them she was not going to argue with any of them, "I really do not want to be involved in your rivalry. So do it with you! " The men opened their mouths, but she gave them an exasperated look. "I can live with that," Steve said anyway and gave Natasha a grateful smile, saying that it was three to two with one abstention and that was the ticket to Bucky's move. However, Natasha did not respond, but only swallowed hard. When Clint pulled her into his arms again, she let it go and rested her head on his shoulders. At that moment she was already in Bucky's entry and was already looking for an excuse to spend as little time as possible with him. But did she really really want to or was she still interested in the man?
