Chapter 18

All that she could do was scream at the top of her lungs out of freight. The hands suddenly started pulling her backward just as if it was about to take her underneath the ground. She struggles to get a hold of something but there was nothing to get a hold of. The only thing that could come into her mind at that moment was what she did. Kath uses her right leg to kick the hands off her leg which was... successful. Immediately, she stood on her feet and was about to run off, but the hand was way too fast as it got a hold of her right leg even before she takes a step forward. It pulled downward as again, she lost her balance and fell on the floor. Suddenly, just a few meters behind her, she could hear sounds of cracking concrete. When she turned, she realized that, just a few inches away from her, the concrete on the floor already has so many lines on its surface. In just a blink Of an eye, the concrete sank into the ground. Now, there is a very huge hole just a few inches behind her. That steel hand still wouldn't let her go. It kept dragging her making sure she falls into that hole. Unfortunately for her, there was nothing to get a hold of as she was already getting defeated. In fact, her legs were already on the surface of the hole. With one force and without any awareness, she got pulled into the hole. That's it, she woke up panting heavily. "Geez! That's… one… heck of a dream!" Kath stuttered as she sat on the mat. It felt so real that even her breathing seems to be unstable. She held onto her racing heart and had to take a deep breath to calm herself down. Truly, she wanted to have a discussion with her dad regarding the book. She has thought about it over the night and came to a conclusion that she will have a conversation with her dad the next morning. Unfortunately, she got woken by a terrible nightmare. Was this like a threat? Is this what will happen to her if she makes any attempt to have a conversation with her dad regarding the book? Though she has it in mind, she hasn't attempted yet and she is already having a terrible dream. Generally, is all this to discourage her, or what? What will she do now? Still proceed with the decision she has made or give up on it? This dream she had was a little bit discouraging. But no! She has to stand firm with the decision she has made and not let the terrible dream or Ravana get to her skin. Well, she knew it, Ravana was definitely at work. This is all his plans to frighten her. She summoned up enough courage, stood on her feet and took in a few shuddering breathes before heading to the king's room. She was so cautious and sensible just in case Ravana truly wants to play some trick on her. Though, the king's room was just a few meters away from her's, to her, today kind of seems like a journey to get to his room. Her eyes roamed and scanned the hall that demarcated her room from his room. She took a step out of her room and then, another, followed by another until she tiptoed hastily into the king's room. She closed the door behind her as she puff out air from her mouth. Okay, that was… successful. She saw her dad sitting at his deck: he had his back facing her as he stared out the window. He was so engulfed in thoughts that he didn't even notice her presence. Kath walked casually to him as she placed her hand on his right soldier but still, there was no reaction from him. Kath thought that her dad was still engulfed in thoughts that, he didn't feel her hand on his shoulder. This time, she decided to call for his attention, "Dad!" She said. Again, there was no reaction from him. Okay, this is not what she had expected though. Why isn't her dad responding to her? What the hell is he thinking that has got him so engaged. Again, she opened her mouth to call for his attention, when the king slowly turned to look at her. Oh geez! Thankfully, she has finally gotten his attention, but then, something is odd. His facial expression is odd! Usually, when she comes into his room, immediately his gaze lands on her, a soft smile would display on his lips, but now, the only reaction she could get from her dad was expressionless with a clenched jaw face. The next thing she heard him say was, "Are you here for the book" Though it felt weird and odd to Kath that her dad suddenly asked her that question out of the blue but, she nodded her head and answered, "Yes dad, have thought about it over the night and, I think I am willing to…" "The king won't hand over that book to you, so, get your mind off it!" The king said cutting her mid-sentence. She batted her lashes in astonishment as she took a step backward. Her dad does not… talk like that. That king? Why does it make it seems like he was referring to someone else and not himself? Like, what the hell is going on? Why the sudden change in attitude? To be sure she wasn't hearing or seeing things, she decided to ask, "who… the hell are you?" As took another step backward. A smirk crept through his lips and he stood on his feet faking a few steps towards Kath's direction. With every step he took, Kath could feel her heart racing, hammering, and beating inside her rib cage. Again, with every step he takes, she makes sure she takes two steps ahead of him. "You are pretty smart, you know!" That's it, that was the confirmation she needed. She knew it! Her dad does not act like this. Someone else replaced him to deceive her. But then, where is her dad? "Your dad? Of course, being your dad baby girl!" This word has pulled her out from her thoughts as she stared at the king; more like, the unknown man who is still walking briskly towards her direction. Baby girl? Her dad doesn't call her such a name! Hold on, could this be… Ravana? Hell no! She is completely dead! "Okay now, I should give you an answer to your curious question, and then, we get down to business. Every normal kid would have noticed that the man standing right now is not their dad; just decided to play a little trick on you because you wanted to play a little trick on me too despite my warning. Let's leave that aside: who would get back to that. And about your dad's whereabouts, I haven't done anything evil to him, so be rest assured. Besides, he is not the reason why I am here now." At least, she needed to confirm her dad's safety before she look for an escape route and then runs out of the room. That is... if possible. She turned around and before she could make any attempt to search for an escape route, or probably run out through the door, she bumped into something and fell hard on her butts. "Ouch!" She groaned in pain and looked at what she bumped into from under her lashes. And there; the unknown man was standing right in front of her with a folder arm. Kath silently wondered if this was the same man that was standing right behind her a while ago? How can he be so fast? "Dear princess, do you think you can run away from me? Like, what gave you the intention to think that you can actually run away from me?" The unknown man asked and even without letting the question sink into her head, he bent down and pulled her up by the neck slamming her back really hard on the brick wall; choking her mercifully. His small smile slipped as a hard-line set in his jaw. His bloodshot eyes stared furiously at hers. "I was so kind enough to pass a message to you, through your dad. I warned you, or didn't I? But then, you decided to go against my wish and command and you think I will let you go scot-free? Do you think so? Am to blame, I think I have given you all enough time and now, you enjoyed the pleasure and dare go against my wish. That reminds me, why haven't I killed you yet this little girl. Oh no, I remember, I was been too mercifully; but unfortunately, it has gotten to the limit." The unknown man whispered to her with terror audible in his voice as he pulled her up and now, her legs began swinging on the air. "I… can't… breath…" Kath exclaimed as she could feel the vein on her neck being scrunched on by his fist around her neck. At this point, she knew she was dying, she is dying and might die! This unknown man was scrunching her neck, and at the same time, draining the life out of her. A mischievous grin crept through the unknown man's lips, "That's exactly what I wanted dear Princess. In fact, I think I have given you all enough time, so therefore, for disobeying my command, I will make today a terrible day for you all. For what you did I will punish everyone in Nazirites," he threw Kath roughly on the ground and proceeded, "I am officially having my second return right here and right now!"
