“Brian, just take a look at it and give me your opinion—that’s all,” I pleaded, my voice soft but urgent.
He narrowed his eyes, his tone sharp. “Is that what your relationship is all about? Him using you to get me to do stuff he can’t do?”
“No, Sam isn’t like that,” I snapped, bristling at his accusation. “Sam isn’t manipulative. He’s kind and a great person. Don’t judge what you don’t know.”
Brian leaned back, folding his arms, a shadow of disappointment crossing his face. “I still wonder what’s going on in your head sometimes. You make bad choices. You’re not good at picking the right people to surround yourself with.”
I felt heat rise in my chest. “Don’t speak to me like I’m some child.”
“For you to be treated like an adult, you need to act like one,” he replied coolly
