Chapter 6. Divorce Your Husband.

The ceremony came to an end at 11 pm.

Selina's family were told to wait as the old master had something to discuss with them.

Half an four later, the were escorted to a study at the back of the mansion. The gentle breeze of the ocean gave it a relaxing atmosphere.

They saw James, Mathew, Franklin and the younger generation there.

Each on a seat about a mahogany table.

Kelvin pulled a seat for the mother and daughter duo. Before taking a seat himself.

His back was straight as he looked nonchalant at them whiles making sure to peel the fruits for his wife and mother-in-law. Hid action would make one think of him being a caretaker or a meek man.

No one still knew that Kelvin had changed and had let go of his inferiority complex. He was now a man true to his words. As such Grace's attitude towards him was beginning to change as well. Kelvin now only talked when necessary and held enough confidence to make a grown man waver.

The Smith family didn't know this and still thought of him as a useless man.

Mathew was the first to speak as he was the eldest son.

'' Grace we invited you guys here, to apologize for what happened at the beginning of the banquet.''

Grace was shocked as she knew what sort of person Mathew was. He would not apologize to anyone even his brother. Unless...

'' We are family after all and it won't look good if outsiders know we are not united.''

Selina and Kelvin were quiet as the didn't have any impression of the Smith family especially after what happened earlier. Mathew unaware, continued

''Grace we invited you guys here to ask you to rejoin the family. As I said earlier we are family after all and we are supposed to be together. ''

Grace was happy at the news. Even though she didn't know why Nathan broke up with his family, since they initiated the proposal, she would naturally accept it.

Kelvin and Selina looked at each other in disbelief. They both sensed something amiss.

Grace hurriedly said, '' Yes, yes. Old master Smith, we would gladly rejoin the family. I am very happy that you have recognised our ability and the importance of a united family.'' She was on cloud nine. she thought that alk her suffering with Narhanbwas worth it.

James was smiling ear to ear. Visibly happy with Grace's reaction. Everything is going according to plan. he thought.

Mathew was smirking. Regarding Grace's happiness as foolish and stupid. He continued,

''We are very sorry for all the suffering you and my brother, Nathan had to go through.

Father still misses him and would like you to pass a message to him. It is for Him to come home. As father is old and might kick the bucket anytime soon. He wants to leave his family united.''

'' We even plan on investing in your company to show our intentions. ''

As expected, Grace was move by his words and was willing to let go of the past.

Kelvin was contemptuous as he knew this was a low blow. But he only appeared attentive to his wife and mother-in-law as he continued to peel the fruits for them.

'' But all this comes with one condition. ''

Selina was not surprised by the turn of events as she expected it.

Grace however didn't see anything wrong with it as everything comes with its terms and conditions.

''Selina has to divorce that useless piece of trash.''

Selina and Grace were surprised by the statement. Selina became angry at once.

'' Uncle, I can tolerate everything but not an insult to my husband as it also means you are also insulting me.''

Franklin stepped in at this moment and said,'' my dear niece I know you must be outraged by out condition butvwe are looking out for you.''

'' We know what happened to you. But we cant allow someone who took advantage of you intovour family. Others might talk behind our backs.''

As expected of Franklin, he really knows he way with words. James thought as he still was quiet.

'' We want to make sure nothing befalls you whiles also looking out for our brother's child.''

Kelvin was still quiet as he knew things weren't that simple as the claim to be. Si he just kept silent. He knew that sonnet or later they would expose themselves.

Seeing that Kelvin was still quiet even at the mention of a possible divorce, they had even more contempt for him.

Selina had calmed down, she also thought things weren't that simple.

''Uncle even if Kelvin is who you say he is, he is still the father of my child I cant let my child grow without a father.''

''Thats where we come in. We will take care of the child as our own and when you decide to remarry you could take the child along. We could even help you look for a better partner than Kelvin over here.''

Franklin didn't hide his contempt and made it sound it he was doing them a huge favour.

'' Sorry uncle but I cant did that. If it is about investment then I'm more than happy to oblige. But you asking me to divorce is out of the question.'' Selina said through gritted teeth visibly annoyed.

Kelvin felt grateful and even thought he didn't deserve such a loving wife.

Truth is Selina was still skeptical about Kelvin's investment plan but she won't allow anyone to berate her husband or her father's work in the marriage.

Kelvin decided to take it from here and said,'' Uncle there's no need for me to divorce Selina. I plan on building myself to give her and the child a better life''

Charles who was sitting on the side couldn't help but mock,'' Take a good look at yourself, do you deserve to be married to Selina? She is the president of a big corporation whiles you are just a man who eats soft rice. Do you think that after marrying her you have the right to talk? ''
