"like you've changed, what have you been eating?" bilkisu asked me with a huge smile on her face

"Abi, it's like you're a different person, it's just been a year" hidayah added

"nothing oo, I've been eating normal food and basking in my laziness." we all burst out laughing

"we should have stayed home I swear, shoprite is downright boring these days" hidayah whined

"stop complaining she's not been here for a while" bilkisu interrupted her

"tell her please bilkisu, this b***h is more lazy than I am" I reply smirking at her pout

"so you broke up with musab? Girl he was handsome." hidaya stated with huge eyes and I chuckle as she fans herself with her hand

After spending some time eating, shopping and having fun we decided to leave, just as I was about to exit the mall I bumped into a guy and fell flat on my face.

"oh my God are you okay? I'm so sorry" I heard a female voice before I was helped up

A petite girl with thick lips smeared with red lipstick, small eyes with long lashes and button nose stood there trying to make sure I was OK.

"I'm so sorry my brother over there wasn't looking at where he was going" I turn to glare at the cause of all This but froze, I stared at the guy who had my heart beating so fast.

"are you listening? I'm sorry I was in a hurry?" his deep voice made me shiver to the core

I felt myself blush "I-it's okay, I'm partly to blame" he smiled at me And I couldn't stop staring, those soft rosy lips of his, huge expressive eyes and a button nose just like his sisters. All in all he was average looking but I don't know, something about him made me irrevocably attracted to him.

"well then we'll get going now" he turns to leave but his sister turned towards us

"can I have your i********: handle please? just to check if you're OK later on" I smile and gave it to her before she left

"OK what was that?" bilkisu asked

"what was what?"

"the way you were literally eye raping that guy, like he's not that good looking." hidayah added

"I don't know, something about him just catches my attention" I answer bitting my lips

I couldn't get that guy off my mind, like I kept thinking about him. A long tune coming from my phone distracted me long enough to check, it was on i********:.

I read the message once or twice not knowing how to reply to it, I mean what's the point of talking to her? Well there's her brother so let's see how it goes.

'hi there, I'm fine don't worry. Besides no need of bringing back the past, it's all good' I re-read it before sending it and immediately she replied

'uh huh, but you were totally checking him out. Actually the reason I asked for your handle was cause I know you were too shy to ask for his number so I did you a favor, besides it was obvious. You we're stuttering and getting all shy'

I raise my eyebrow at her reply, well she's a smart one so I don't need to beat around the bush.

'yeah well true, and I don't usually get that way around guys but this time it was different.'

'lol well we've all got that one person, look I like you so I'll be straight forward with you.... He has a girlfriend...... But it's nothing serious I promise.'

I felt my stomach churn in a weird way, he's with someone. Do I even stand a chance?

'wow I wasn't expecting that honestly, well guess this is where my little crush ends then' I throw the phone somewhere on my bed as I try to process everything, I felt jelous of whoever the girl was. My phone pinged again so I picked it up to check.

'woah hold your horses, it doesn't have to. Honestly my parents don't really approve, she comes from a family where let's just say all her parents care about is money and everybody knows it soooo....'

I felt a bit of hope resurface, that's a start.

'really? But what if he doesn't find me attractive?'

'please girl, he'll learn. My mom will be so excited to hear about this, she's been hoping and praying he meets someone new and well here you are.'

I smile at her outrageous claims

'it does seem that way, but I need your help to get his attention. Can I count on you?'

I laugh 'smh, ig. But for real I feel comfortable talking to you and i don't really know you. Its kinda weird but nice at the same time'

And just like that those two spent hours chatting from i********:, to what'sapp and going as far as calling each other. There's one thing for sure though,Arfah had her eyes on a certain guy who isn't ready for what's coming his way.

It's been a week since her and hauwa met and to say they were close was an understatement, they were always chatting and plotting and they finally decided to meet at huwa's. She looked extra nice and sprayed a lot of perfume to make sure she was smelling amazing.

She nervously knock on the door and it wasn't long before a make up free hauwa opened the door with a huge smile on her face.

"you look horrible" I deadpanned

"excuse you I'm fabulous, and I know it. Look at you all dolled up, smh he might not even be home" that got a reaction out of me "really he's not?" I could feel the disappointment that I wouldn't be seeing him.

"chill I was only pulling your legs, he's mostly in on Sundays and todays the same. Okay make sure you follow the plan and by the end of the day he'd be asking for your number" I nod as she gave me directions and pointers on how to get her brothers attention.

"don't worry its Muayyad, it'll be cool" she says nonchalantly

"ugh even his name is sexy" I let out a sigh while hauwa let out a disgusting cry

"don't get all horny on me, now let's go say hello to mama"

HAUWA

I led afra down the hall to mama's room where she sat on the carpet watching her weekly soap operas.

"mama this is my friend that I told you about, Afra"

"eyya sannu dazuway kinzo lafiya?"

"go down the hall second room from the left that's mine, I'll be with you in a second" she nods before slowly exiting the room and closing the door quietly

"that is the girl? Are you sure she likes your brother?"

"Mama I'm sure, she's crazy about him."

"shes pretty and well mannered, I like her. I hope everything goes well becasue I'd like to have her as a daughter in law"

"she is, well hopefully ya Muayyad accepts her"

"oh if he doesn't then trust me I'll force him to, I don't intend to let that girl go without him marrying her"

"thank god, lemme go meet her before she gets bored"

AFRA

Just like I was ordered I went down the hall to the first room on the left, it was a cozy room suitable for a girl her age. I mean it was kinda small and the furniture was not updated to my liking but it was a good home for an avarage person. I sit on the couch and grab my phone to text my sister when the door to her room open.

"I swear to God hauwa I'm gonna kill you, what did I tell you about taking my air pods" I hear a lazy deep voice say

I raise my head to be faced with a comfy looking Muayyad, he was wearing black sweat pants with a black v-neck T-shirt that clung to him like a second skin. He looked taken a back at first but was quick to change his expression.

"sorry I didn't know she had someone over"

"no it's okay, and she'll be back any moment now" I try to act normal when all I want to do was hug him.

"wait, aren't you the girl from the mall" he asked studding my face..

"yes that's me" he nod before his lips part to show the most dazzling smile I've ever seen

"cute cover" he says pointing at my SpongeBob phone case

"you like it?" I ask without thinking twice, he nod still staring at it.

"thank you, i-

The door suddenly opened and in comes hauwa.

"what are you doing in my room?"

"my air pods midget, hand it over" she rollled her eyes before grabbing it from her bedside drawer and giving it to him

"it was nice to meet you....?"

"Arfah"

"Arfah, nice name. I'll see you round" with that he turns around and exit the room.

"ohhh what was that?" I look at a beaming hauwa shaking my head

"nothing ok? just a casual conversation" she teases me a bit before finally letting it go

After spending hours at huwa's I was about to leave, I said goodbye to her mom who even went as far as to give me a gift. I said goodbye to her before getting in the car and leaving.

HAUWA

Coming back into the house after saying bye to afra, I came in to find ya Muayyad sitting on the couch watching TV.

"your friend is gone?" I nod

"she seems nice"

"she is, oh and she told me to give you this" I hand him the SpongeBob phone case which made him smile, he was quick to replace the old one with it

"it fits perfectly, thanks" he replied with a smile dancing on his lips

"don't thank me thank her, I sent you her number" I turn around to leave without waiting for his answer.

ARfah

After arriving home, I took a shower and got dressed before getting into bed. I was getting ready for bed when a call came in from an unknown number. Odd.

'hello, who am I talking to?'

'hi it's muayyad, got your number from hauwa'

I felt my heart beat faster and my hands get sweaty.

'oh yes, how are you?'

'great, hope you got back home safe?'

'yes I'm fine, thank you'

'great, I wanted to call and thank you for the phone cover. I appreciate it alot'

I blush fiddling with my finger 'no it's okay, I'm glad you like it"

'like? More of love. Anyway I've got to go, see you around'

'b-bye' I stutter before ending the call and stuffing my head into the pillow to yell in happiness.
