Chapter 32 Back to work

SUMMERS POV

After dinner we ate new York style cheese cake that Sean did a pit stop to buy. Then he disappeared into the bedroom saying "I should stay with Skylar for abit."

"How's Lisa?" my mum asked.

"As good as she can be, it will take time but I'm sure see will get through it with everyone's support." I say

"That's good and how's are you?" my dad ask.

"I'm okay honestly." I say

"In that case me and your mum need to go home for a few weeks but we will be back for Christmas" he says.

"Oh how come?" I ask

"Well there was a storm and apperently there's some damage to the house so we don't want to hold off until after Christmas. We figured if we both went we could come back sooner ready for when Sean goes back to work, then you will have us here to help out more then, but if you really can't cope without us then your mum can stay and help" my dad says quickly.

"No, it's fine you both go and hurry back for Christmas so long as your here Christmas I will be happy, when do you plan on leaving?" I ask

"Well in a hour, we want to get the next flight" my mum says.

"Oh, that quick." I say surpised

"I can always stay" my mum says.

"No it's okay plus I can always ring if I need you" I say.

"Of course and if need me I can fly back before your dad" my mum says.

"Seems like everything is against us lately but we can get through it all" I say as confident as I can.

The hour flew by quickly and before I knew it we had a teary goodbye. I watched them drive away In a taxi to the airport before heading back into the apartment.

As I walk back in I see Sean washing up.

I put the kettle on grabbing us both cups.

"Are you okay?" Sean asks taking a glance at me.

"Yeah, I'm fine plus there be back soon." I say

"Well once I'm done here, I will run you a nice bubble bath what you think?" Sean asks.

"Yeah a bath sounds nice but I'm going to bath Skylar first, then feed her a bottle by the time I've bathed her my cuppa will be cooled down" I say stirring the drinks.

I then go and fill the bath up and get everything ready to bath Skylar.

"I will prepare the bottle" Sean says walking in as I start to undress Skylar.

"Thanks" I say.

"Okay little lady let's get this over with quickly" I say seeing Skylar wake up as I take the pink baby vest off. "But let's not scream the whole building down its only a bath and you smell like baby sick, we can't have you smelling rotten can we" I say before kissing her little cute button nose. But Skylar decided she was going to scream the whole place down no sooner she was in the water. I quickly bathed her before wrapping her up in a soft white baby towel that has a Teddy bear on the hood. Sean comes and helps me hand over the baby talc, nappy and clothes as I need them. Then I sit on the sofa feeding Skylar while Sean sits next to us.

"Say cheese" Sean says I look at Sean and he has his phone in his hand taking a picture of us.

"God I look I mess" I say

"No you look perfect" he says before wrapping his arm around me to take a selfie with us all in.

"Whats got into you?" I ask.

"I just want to capture as many moments as possible with my girls" he says before kissing my cheek.

PING

"Can you see who messaged me please?" I ask.

"Sure Where's your phone?" Sean says standing up.

"The kitchen side." I say.

Sean goes to the kitchen as I start to wind Skylar.

"It's Lisa she has sent a picture message" Sean says walking back in.

"Okay open it so we I can I see" I say.

Sean opens it and starts laughing before he shows me, which makes me wonder what Lisa has sent even more now, Sean then shows me and I start laughing as well, the back door to his parents house is now very colourful.

PING

"Oh slide down she sent enougher one." I say.

We both laugh seeing Tom is covered in orange paint on his face. The picture message says 'he opened the door at the wrong time upon arriving home from the office.'

"Oh your poor dad" I say.

"I bet he didn't care so long as Lisa laughed and let some of her anger out" Sean says.

PING

Enougher picture message we look to see Ryan, Lisa and Seans parents are all covered in paint it's captioned' a paint water bomb fight broke out and the girls won.'

"Oh now I wish I stated one more night that looks so much fun." I say

"Ha, with me there there the boys would of won" Sean says.

"In your dreams, reply to Lisa please saying next time I'm joining in" I say through laughter.

SEAN'S POV

After I replied for Summer, I went and ran Summer a bath. I added all her favourite Yankee candles around the bath. Just as I finished Summer was putting Skylar into the moses basket.

"I made you a bath take as long as you want." I say walking into the bedroom.

"Thanks" summer says getting some pj's out.

I go put the TV on in the bedroom as Summer walks into the bathroom.

"Sean thanks" summer says coming to the door smiling.

"For what?" I ask

"For making it just how I like with candles" summer says heading back to her bath.

I then go get popcorn and crisps as well as chocolate milkshake, to binge on with a film once Summer is done with the bath. I also made sure to get all the night feed bottles ready for over night and a few nappys. I set up a movie ready to watch '13 going on 30'. I know summer loves this film and she deserves to have a relaxing stress free evening after all these eventful days I think to myself as I see everything coming together as I planned.

I then quickly change into pj bottoms and climb into bed waiting for summer to join me, I even put the remote on my legs ready so I don't have to get out of bed again. The next thing I know I feel a hand on my leg. I open my eyes to see Summer getting the TV remote.

"Sorry I didn't mean to wake you up" Summer says looking at me with a oopsie face. I can't help smiling.

"It's okay I brought snacks and drinks let's watch a movie" I say pressing play.

I see summer scooting closer to me and she quickly kisses my cheek before starting to move away. I quickly wrap my arms around her body pulling her closer to me again "What was that for?" I ask.

"Because I felt like it" is all Summer says looking at me.

I smile before quickly kissing her sweet cherry plum lips.

"What was that for?" Summer asks.

"Because I felt like it, but I feel like it again" I say then kiss Summer again instead this time its not quick, I kiss with passion while bringing our body's closer together. I feel summers hands are in my hair and I'm running one hand up your her pj top to curess her back. Our kiss only breaks apart when we need air. Summer then rests her head against my shoulder.

"I love you" I whisper to Summer.

"We should watch the film" Summer says wrapping a arm around my waist.

"You don't have to say it back, Im just happy I got to kiss you and we are cuddled up like this" I say before placing a kiss on top of her head.

The rest of the evening we spent like this cuddled up watching the movies until we fell asleep before the night feeds began.

SUMMERS POV

"The weekend flew by quickly Saturday Sean took us to his surprise plan day and we succeeded in getting there this time. Oh my god Skylar looked so tiny in Santa's arms having a photo taken and got a cute little Teddy. Then at 4pm as it got dark we drove around for a hour looking at the Christmas lights of the city." I say.

"Oh you love Christmas lights" katys says.

"I know how have you been? And how was your weekend? " I ask.

"Good I went and spent the weekend with my parents for the annual putting the Christmas tree up and my mum did her not so famous cookies, the dog didn't even want to eat them" Katy says cringing at the memory of the cookies.

"I can't believe you all never told your mum you all hate them." I say laughing.

"Ha! well we don't want to upset my mum in December, Just like you she loves Christmas. Anyway what did you do Sunday?" Katy asks.

"We just stayed home, I cooked lamb roast dinner and had a lazy day which was well needed." I say.

"Well I hope Sean is still on his best behaviour, where is he anyway? Hasn't he become attached to your hip these days?" katy says looking around.

"Ha, ha kinda yeah, but he has gone to the office today, his dad rang this morning asking him to go in sign some paperwork apparently, so I opted to come see you before I head off to see Ryan and Lisa." I say.

"Aww, if I wasn't working I'd come with you I've missed them both, how are they?" Katy asks.

"There fine, next time I will make sure you have the day off work though, I promise." I say

Before Katy can reply Skylar is crying. "Sorry Katy I need to feed Skylar before I make a move, but to make it up to you, would you like to feed Skylar while I make us a smoothies?" I say.

"Strawberries and kiwi for me please" Katy says picking Skylar up while I prepare the bottle.

"Sure thing, is there bananas and grapes in the kitchen also? Do you know?" I ask.

"Yeah we had a delivery this morning so everything should be there for smoothies unless anyone else has used it already" Katy replys while starting to feed Skylar.

SEAN'S POV

"Sean, I know I said you could take time for maternity leave, and I'd of happily stayed a year to help out. But your sister isn't in a good way. I think you should come back to work as soon as possible, so I can help your sister more. Plus you helped out all day today catching up on paperwork and Summer has been fine considering its 7pm now. I reckon she will be good if you came back to work." my dad says distracting me from the work I'm doing.

" What 7pm s**t, I planned to stay help 2-3 hours not lose myself in paperwork and be here all day! Dad why didn't you stop me sooner" I say shutting down the laptop.

"Sorry son, but I lost track of time also" he replys.

"If you can't be here dad, I understand with everything going on with Lisa, I'm sure Summer will understand as well. I will come back tomorrow you take care of Lisa." I say standing up.

"Are you sure Sean, I can hold off a few more days if needed, maybe we can talk Summer into spending more time with Lisa that way me and your mum can make sure both Summer and Lisa are doing well." my dad says.

"I will speak with Summer, but right now it's late and we should both get going mums gonna be pissed that your late and Summer probably won't be so happy with me either. Then again, I don't even know if Summer is with mum, Lisa and Ryan or at home I should ring her. "I say as me and my dad start heading out the office.

"Yeah, you should definitely ring Summer, I should ring your mother as well wish me luck" my dad says while giving me a wide eye look, as if to say you know what happens when your mother gets mad.

"I'm sure we both will need luck." I say as we excite the lift and my dad starts ringing my mum.

Once I get into the car and set up my phone with hands free I start to ring Summers number as I start the car engine.

RING RING RING RING RING RING RING RING RI

"Hello" Summer says in a groggy sleepy voice.

"Sorry did u wake you up?" I ask.

"Hmm, I feel asleep about 5 minutes ago while Skylar is asleep, where are you? I left you some dinner in the microwave" summer says followed by a yawn.

"Sorry, I lost track of time at the office me and my dad literally just left, thanks for the dinner, I will eat it when I get back. I'm actually driving back now, how's yours and Skylars day been?" I ask.

"Busy we got home around 6pm, Sean since your nearly back I'm going back to sleep, Skylar isn't due to wake up again until 9ish" Summer replys.

"Okay sorry for waking you up, but before you go how would you feel if I go back to work tomorrow?" I ask.

"Is something wrong in the company?" Summer asks.

"How come you spent all day there today? I thought you where on maternity leave?" Summer says.

Summer fires these questions very fast at that I don't have to time answer them before she asks the next question.

"Well, maternity leave ends today as my dad needs to be there for Lisa. So that means I go back to work for good. Is that okay?"

"Well you made your mind up, so I don't know why your asking me for, I'm going back to sleep." summer says then I hear Beeeeeeeeeep. Indicating summer hung up on me.

I can't believe Summer just hung up on me. Damn it, clearly she isn't happy with me. I spend the rest of the drive back trying to figure out how to solve this one. I'm also curious what I have for dinner, either way I'm starving I could eat anything right now. I still don't have any answers to how I'm going to solve things as I walk through the door. I head straight for the bedroom to see if Summer is awake or not, but she has already fallen back to sleep. So I then head for the kitchen where I find pasta salad. Bonus it doesn't need heating up I thinking to myself as I just grab a fork. I eat it while watching some TV in the living room.
