ALINA “Lina, the Alpha asks to see you” A fellow Omega maiden announces to me as I smacked the red lipstick on my lips, making sure I'd done it properly to highlight my looks. I wanted to look my best today as it was the night of my coming-of-age ceremony. The night which every female werewolves anticipated mostly in their whole lives. I stood up gently from my seat, standing facing the dressing mirror, admiring my figure as I looked elegant in the dress I was putting on. “You look so beautiful, Gosh!” Riley, another colleague, said to me, with her face all lit up with excitement. Riley was my closest friend amongst all of the maids in the pack. She's been with me since the death of my parents. Rueben became extremely distant and different. I asked several times if I was the cause of his sadness. But he'd refuse, he promised me that I wasn't. Due to their history together. According to the rumors, it was said that they were responsible for the death of Alpha Reuben's father. He sent assassins to kill him. I guess he's been working too hard to prepare for the war so he barely had my time… I made my way to his bedroom after the call. I'd delayed a little because I was trying to look beautiful for him. Besides, I wanted everything to happen at the right time. Which has been my dream for such a long time now. Even though Rueben and I have been intimate a couple of times, I expected tonight's intimacy to be different and maybe, a blast! He was finally going to be mine. I placed a light knock on the door and there was no response at all. It was odd because if Reuben had invited me himself, I was expecting him to be at the door already, waiting to receive me. I knocked for the second time before I decided to go inside and meet him. I made my way to the middle of Alpha Reuben's huge bedroom. No one was there, not even Rueben. And for a moment, I started to think if it was all a trick. Was he trying to surprise me since he's going to make me his Luna officially tonight? I asked myself inwardly but I realized that my question turned rhetorical. I moved closer to the bed, sitting on it and deciding to wait for him here. It lasted about twenty minutes and no one came inside, not even a guard.. I started to Wonder if Reuben had really asked to see me at all. I stood up and decided to leave his bedroom, my clothes were beginning to feel heavy and I was uncomfortable in them. As soon as I stepped outside the bedroom, someone screamed at me. “You w***e, what the hell are you doing in the alpha's bedroom?” She pointed. Causing a scene and grabbing the attention of passersby. Soon, about two maidens and the alpha's guards filled the hallway all pointing at me for being a thief. Madame Cordelia stood in front of me, hitting and trying to tear my dress off “What were you doing in the alpha's bedroom dressed like a w***e? Are you trying to seduce him?” She asked me angrily. “No, ma'am. It's all a misunderstanding. I was told by Ana that the alpha wanted to see me” I tried to explain. She ignored my explanation and kept on insisting that I was a prostitute and a thief. “I tried to explain again but then, a hoarse voice interrupted the scene. We all turned to look and it was him, alpha Rueben. He's just arrived from god knows where..” I stared into his deep blue eyes, hoping that he'd save me from this mess. Since everyone now thinks that I had gone into his bedroom in order to seduce him. Since he's already planned to introduce me as Luna, doing it now would even uplift me and put a leech in the mouth of my accusers. “Thank God you're back, Alpha. We found this lowly maid sneaking out of your bedroom” madam Cordelia said in rage. The entire hallway went silent for a minute before rueben finally spoke. He turned towards me, his once warm eyes turned cold as ice with hatred and disgust. I was utterly stunned, but deep down inside me, I prayed he'd help me out of this mess. “Who sent you, Omega?” he asks, my legs turned numb immediately and my stomach turned. How could he ask me such a question, knowing fully well why I'd come to seek for him. I parted my lips to speak and explain myself but then, a fragile female voice interrupted me.. “My love, what's going on here?” A beautiful brunette walked in on us, interrupting and preventing me from speaking. She moved closer to Alpha Rueben and gave him a kiss on his cheek but he insisted to kiss her lips. They looked so much like a couple in love. I was awestruck, shocked to my bones as I watched the man who was my mate kissing another woman in front of me. No sign of regret or remorse was written on his face. Matter of fact, he'd denied me when she asked who I was “Who's she?” She she-wolf asked, moving in front of me. There was a brief silence before Rueben finally spoke. “She's a nobody. An Omega slave trying to pave her way to the top. She was caught leaving my bedroom” he added. I tightened my fist hard, anticipating giving Rueben a slap for what he'd just said to me. I felt so insulted that he'd deny me this way. “Rue..” I called out his name but a resounding slap hit my face, putting me in shock for a moment. I looked up at the woman who hit me, she wanted to do it again until Rueben stopped her. “How dare you lowly slave try to seduce my fiance? Do you have no shame at all?” She asks in rage. “She even called you by your name. Rueben, you need to punish her” She insisted. “Davina just let her be. We've got more important things to do than to give this slave any attention” he said to her. Grabbing her waist as they made their way inside his bedroom. “Alpha, what do we do to her?” Madam Cordelia asked. “Double her chores..” he declared. I watched as everyone exited the hall, leaving me and Rueben. Davina had entered the bedroom and was obviously waiting for him to join her. “You should go clean up your face. Makeup doesn't suit you..” he said. “W.. what?” I asked, feeling lost as my chest aches badly. How could he just deny me this way? Didn't he say we were mates? He was supposed to claim me tonight. I asked myself several questions as I watched him enter the bedroom. In less than ten minutes, I could hear Davina's moans emanating the hallway. Rueben really got no shame, he dared to hurt me this way. I left the hallway, taking to my heels as I'd returned back to my room. Riley was already there waiting for me. But with the looks on her face, she already heard what happened. “Oh come here, baby” she said, opening her arms while giving me a tight hug. She patted my back as I cried hard on her chest while narrating my ordeals with her. “Alpha Rueben surely outdid himself this time. How dare he deny you in front of everyone? How can one resist his mate?” She asked me. I shrugged my shoulders, unable to speak as tears took my voice completely. “I'm so sorry, Lina. I'll always be here for you. I promise…”
