“You look pretty amazing!” I tell Annalise as we walk to my car. “Oh really? I didn’t think you’d approve of any of this” she says, as she motions to herself from head to toe. “Oh stop! I’m just so f*****g happy you’re actually coming out tonight!” I respond excitedly. “Cameron has a ridiculous amount of his friends coming tonight and I’ll be damned if I’m going to be the only normal woman there.” Annalise laughs “You think we’re normal?”. I laugh at that too. “You know how some of Cameron’s friends are, richy riches with their perfect plastic Barbie dolls”. It amazes me sometimes how I got so lucky to get Cameron. I’m not perfect, plastic, or supermodel material, which is what his friends are in to, and I hear he was too before me.
As we pull up to Cameron’s parents house I can already see the line of arrogant men and their fake arm candy. I grew up in a world like this, you’d think I’d be used to it. But I still can’t stand the way it all works. “I thought this was your party?” Annalise asks, interrupting my thoughts. “Well if I would have told you it was Cameron’s dads fundraiser would you have come?” I asked, knowing damn well she wouldn’t have. “Maybe, if you’d asked nicely” she responds, then flashes me that beautiful smile that she seems to never have anymore. “Doesn’t matter, I have you here now and that’s what matters!” I answer back as I get out of the car. As soon as I close the door, I can feel the hairs on my neck stand and the butterflies in my stomach. I know Cameron is standing behind me. He has that way with me. I’ve never been one to be “smitten” with a guy. I bounced from guy, to guy, to guy….for as long as I can remember. I’d get bored after a week or two and move on. But Cameron, he was different. Most guys I dated before, if you could call it that, wined me and dined me, then f****d me. Then shortly after, I would bail. When Cameron first asked me out, I expected the fancy restaurants, flashy car rides, endless talk about his money, then after 2-3 dates f*****g me in his fancy high rise apartment. But, on our first date, he took me to a drive in movie. I didn’t even know they existed anymore. While there, he didn’t attempt to feel me up or even kiss me. Our second date was playing putt putt golf. It was there he stole the first kiss and my heart. He never made any s****l advances until our second month anniversary. Six months later we were engaged and a year later, married.
“Well, here are the two most beautiful women in the world” Cameron said with a big smile. He leaned over and kissed me gently on the lips. Five years in to marriage and this man still makes me giddy and excited. I can feel my heart race and my panties get wet. “Come on, lets go in and mingle” he says as he offers up each arm to the two us. “I have someone I’d like you both to meet” he says as we walk up the stairs. As we walk in the foyer, he directs us to the formal sitting area to the left, where there’s a man I’ve never seen before. He’s quite tall, handsome and has pretty amazing green eyes. “Josh, I’d like you to meet my gorgeous wife Celeste and her equally gorgeous friend Annalise” Cameron says as he motions to each of us. As Josh shakes our hands, I see Annalise getting a bit bashful and flustered. Which is not like her. She’s always been social, confident and graceful. I have noticed a change in her over the past few years. That husband of hers, whom I’ve never liked, seems to make her miserable. She always tells me things are fine, but I know what or should I say who he’s doing when he tells her he’s working late. One thing about elites, the men see stuff and the women talk about it.
Apparently Josh’s Aunt and Uncle live next door and be would visit them for a month every summer. That’s how him and Cameron became such good friends. Josh was in town for an assignment and had to see Cameron. After a few funny stories, I decided to excuse Annalise and myself and head to the bar. “Wow, Josh is kind of hot!” I said. “Celeste!” Annalise exclaimed. “You’re a married woman and to a man who’s pretty amazing and good looking”. “Oh believe me, I know. But that doesn’t stop me from admiring a great piece of work with what looked like a great ass too!” I said as I nudged her with my elbow. She shook her head at me “I’m married too you know, with kids” I looked at her and said “How about tonight your not”. Annalise just shook her head and order us a couple of drinks. “Come Annalise, lighten up a little! Let loose, have fun! It’s a f*****g party!” I said as I started to grind on her. “Oh stop, are we 22 again?” she asked as she backed away from me. “Fine, be a party pooper” I pouted. She just gave me a side eye and laughed.
After a few hours of benefit talk and an auction, Cameron asked if we wanted to leave. “Hell yeah I do” I responded. “I want to go to a club and get Annalise drunk so she’ll dance with me” that earned me both a laugh from Cameron and a glare from Annalise. “Alright” says Cameron. “Would it be alright if Josh came with? He’s only in town for a few days and him and I could catch up while you two do your thing”. “Deal” I said as I grabbed Annalise and headed for the door. Cameron went to find Josh while we waited outside. “I can’t get too drunk, I do have to get up with the baby” Annalise said. “Why? Ethan can get up on his own” I said laughing. “Ha ha, ass, you know what I mean” she responded. “Fine, fine. Give me two drinks and one dance, then we’ll take you home” I begged. “Ok, fine. But you promise when I say I’m done, you’ll take me home without protest?” she asked me. “Scouts honor” I answered with my two fingers in the air.
