Chapter Nine I glance at the empty seat next to me, trying not to focus too much on the way Bryce's absence makes me feel. The classroom is a much lonelier place without him here, which probably means I need to make more friends, but my former vocation seems to be harming me in that regard. I just need to give it time. Once I'm out in the world and working, no one will know who I am without doing a lot of digging. Perhaps then I'll be able to start making proper connections with the people around me. That doesn't help me now, though. Not when I know he's at a meeting I haven't been invited to.
