Emma-
"Is this someones desk?", Max asks worriedly.
"Yeah. Mine.", I say
"It's okay.", I say with a small smile, not wanting him to feel bad. It's just a seat. I wouldn't have said anything if the twins hadn't already told him the seat was taken. He walks towards the back of the room while we are just a couple seats up.
"Emma likes him.", Charlie tells the twins. I whip around with a look of betrayal on my face.
"I get it.", Matthew says while Austin points out,"He does seem nice."
"I don't like him. I'm just curious about him.", I defend.
"Close enough for you. You haven"t been 'curious' about any other guy." Charlie says with air quotes. I realize she's right. I've never really thought about any guy at all. Even Matthew and Austin who I'm around everyday never crossed my mind. What is so different about Max?
"What took you so long to get here?", Matthew asked.
"I was waiting on Emma. She was at the office.",Charlie responds.
"What were you doing at the office?", Austin asks.
"If you would let me talk I would tell you. My dad wanted my opinion on Max. I got to see his school file. Apparently he has moved at least once a year. He's never been at the same school two years in a row. Dad is going to get someone to look into him and his past. He seemed nice though.", I tell them quietly, not wanting Max to hear. I glance back and see him glance back down. He must have been looking at us. I hope he didn't hear us.
"We talked to him too. He did seem really nice. He didn't even get mad about having to get out of your seat. I get a weird vibe off of him. If he was a wolf i would say he could be an alpha.", Austin admits.
"Me too. He also interested Emma so there must be something about him.", Charlie says thinking about it. "Now that you mention it he does seem powerful. Maybe its his jaw."
"This is serious Charlie.", Emma reprimands.
"I am being serious! His jaw is just so strong and square and chiseled."
She's starting to piss me off. She shouldn't be thinking about his jaw. I like him. Oh My God. I like him and I've met him one time. What the heck is wrong with me. There is just something drawing me to him.
"Enough Charlie.", i say exasperated.
"Yeah. That"s Emma's man you're talking about. Back off.", Austin says trying to help.
"Sorry. It's just hard not to stare and think about those brilliant blue eyes...", Charlie trails off with a dreamy look on her face.
"The bells about to ring." Matthew tells us looking at the clock.
good thing we were already finished with the assignment for the week and didn't have to worry about getting in trouble.
"You should say something to him." the twins say together. They like to do that. Talk together. It used to be creepy, but now it's kind of normal.
"Now.", Charlie whispers as the bell rings.
We all stand up. I wait until Max starts walking towards us then i say," How is your first day so far." Then a mentally flinch. That was so dumb to say I think as it takes him a while to respond. "Pretty good. I've met some nice people. Like you and Matthew and Austin."
"What is your next class?" I ask. "A.P. Lit with Mrs. Newman." he tells me looking at his schedule. "Charlie has that class. I'm sure she would be happy to take you."
"I would love to.", I here behind me.
"Thanks Charlie."
