Thirty minutes later and the Dagger had left behind most of the pirate fleet. There were still quite a few ships shadowing them but they were well outside weapons range and even combined they weren’t enough to trouble the Dagger.
Not in a fight, anyway, but they clearly didn’t want to fight. They were following the Dagger, making it quite clear it wasn’t going to be able to get away.
“We’ll be at the jump point in twenty-three minutes, Captain,” said Sonia. “Do we keep on going?”
“Yes,” replied Drake. “I want to see what they do when we get there.”
“Aye, Captain.”
Once the Dagger drew near to the jump point ten of the fast pirate ships drew ahead of it. They reached the jump point several minutes before it was within the Dagger’s weapons range. The rest settled in behind the Dagge
