- 19 - - 19 -Several things happened on Friday. Most of them were good, or at least not tragic, except maybe for Eleanor Heimlich. First, classes at the Copper Country Community College were officially over for the semester, though there were still a few stray students racing around in various stages of meltdown desperate to get late assignments turned in. Several knocked on my door hoping I would know how to track down their teachers. The scenario was always the same. They had missed the drop-dead deadline and I was a convenient person to yell at because professor so-and-so was NEVER in his/her office! I would suggest a text or e-mail or prayer, if they were hoping for a miracle, which is what they needed at 4:59 p.m. on the Friday of the last day of the semester. Faculty were as scarce
