CHAPTER 7. WHITCH ATTACK

LIAM'S POV
"We are ready. Riley just went back home to say goodbye to her friends. I promised her that they would be able to visit. I want her to feel comfortable. She is already very nervous about being a member of a pack and becoming a mom at the same time." Adam and Riley decided to take the next step and move in together, they will mark each other once we admit her into our pack and she has her ceremony which shouldn't take long considering she is pregnant already.
"At least you sound more accepting right now. You were a jerk last night when she told you, I thought she was going to slap you and run, but she kept her cool." It took Adam hours of apologies and trying to get Riley to forgive him, and somehow she did it.
"I was shocked, I was planning on being the Beta of our pack, I had plans to keep improving my fighting skills, and having fun, but I wasn't planning to be a father, it just wasn't a priority, when Riley announced it, it felt like I ran out of time to have more fun." He gives me a stupid smile. For a Beta, he is not very bright sometimes.
"Fun? I'm pretty sure you and Riley have been having too much fun together a baby won't change that. You two already love each other, if anything, it will help you grow up."
"That's the thing, man, I am not mature enough. How am I supposed to be responsible for a little pup?" I'm sure fatherhood is scary, but is what's expected of wolves once they find their mate. Especially in high ranks, we need to start using pups as soon as possible.
"You'll be alright. I bet your mom will be there to teach you how to change diapers and do the whole thing. Just focus on Riley and on making her happy. I'm sure dad will accept her into the pack, and we will celebrate her ceremony in a few days." I encourage him. He found his mate, and now she's pregnant. My dad will just welcome her with open arms.
"You will find your mate too. She is somewhere waiting for you." Adam tried to encourage me.
"I just want Olivia. She was the one for me. I will not accept anyone else. I am still hopeful Olivia will come back and we will finally be together." Ever since I met her, I have known that she is the one for me.
"You are about to become the Alpha of our pack, she is the enemy and she could never be Luna, besides, you said she found her mate, let her go. If you really love her, you will wish her well and focus on finding your mate. Our mothers are preparing a Christmas ball and invited everyone they know. Maybe your mate is there. I assure you, once you find her, you are not going to want to let her go." He says, giving me a pat on my shoulder.
"Says the guy who ran out of time to have fun." I tell him sarcastically.
"Hey, I am in love with Riley, just the news was unexpected, but I am a new man, I will love my pup and make my mate happy." He gives me a proud smile.
"We'll see." Is all I say.
" Yes, we will. For now, we are going to focus on getting you back to the pack, and in a few weeks, you will be the be Alpha. I just don't know why it has to be done during the New years celebration." Adam loves the New years celebration at the pack, dance, drinks, he used to spend the whole night out. I don't think he is accounting for his mate this year, but I'll let him figure it out.
"I just want to get it over with, I am not in the mood for parties or celebrations. as soon as I get back home, I plan to get to work.
"You really need to find a mate or a hobby. You have been in a sour mood since last night after we came back from meeting Riley's friends, I know they are an unusual pack, but she loves them."
"Two witches and a vampire, That is her family. I think is more a recipe for betrayal. witches can't be trusted and a vampire? Those are just sworn enemies, it really makes me wonder if your mate is alright." I was confused when Riley kept her friend separate from our group, but after last night, I understood why.
"You are about to become the leader of our pack, and times have changed. It wouldn't kill you to be more open to other creatures. Those fights between species are in the past, I think you need to get to know them before you judge them." Adam suggests.
"I just know that her particular group is not going to be welcomed easily, plus why was the other witch not there? That is suspicious." It didn't escape me that he friend Isa wasn't around and according to her friend Amy, she had to leave the club urgently. I don'tbuy that.
"We'll get to meet her, you heard them. She is from this super powerful coven, and she got summoned. It happens. Just get over it." I just leave him there because this conversation is pointless.
"Adam is not wrong about focusing on finding our mate. What if she is somewhere waiting for us?" My wolf suggests.
"I don't want to even think about that. I want to get back to our pack and start getting ready to take over as Alpha." I have plans to improve our finances, our training practice, and a few rules that are outdated and need to change. My father is not open to any of my ideas, so I have to wait until I am in full control.
"At least now you are ready to take over, that woman was going to take you down the wrong path, and for the record, I wouldn't have let you renounce our birth right." It is the same argument since I was with Olivia. He even threatened with never talking to me again if I went through with my plans. He doesn't want to commit to anyone else until we had given our mate a proper chance.
"Well, she's gone now. We can stop talking about her. We will be back home soon enough and leave everything else behind." Olivia is long gone, and we will never see her again.
"Do you feel the emptiness? In your heart?" My wolf asks.
"Yes, I thought it was because of Olivia, but I'm not sure what it is. Is a weird feeling of sadness and anger buried deep in my heart, I am not sure why." I tell him honestly.
"Is not Olivia, I got along with her wolf, but I don't care that she's gone, this is something deeper than that. It's been bugging me since last night." He says a little worried.
"Maybe is just worry for or life ahead. There's a lot involved, you know." I respond back.
Our conversation is short-lived because my phone starts ringing.
"Hello" I answer.
"Liam, tell me you are on your way back." My brother Josh asks desperate.
"We are about to leave. Adam's mate should be on her way, we'll leave when she gets here. Why? Is mom driving everyone crazy with party preparations?" I ask jokingly.
"Be serious, dude. We were attacked by the Black Thorn pack." Cold runs down my body when he is done. Why did they break our peace treaty?
