REX
How did this happen to me? I’m mated to a rogue. Goddess, she is so beautiful. The longer she stays, the more I plan to learn about her. She stood up to Hunter like it was no problem. That takes guts. I couldn’t stop thinking about her even when I had mind linked my sister and told her to meet me in my room with clothes for Alina.
“Hey little bro, what did you need these for?” Eliza had a pile of clothes in her hand.
“Shut the door, Liza.” I grabbed the pile from her hands and set them on my dresser for now.
“So serious. What’s up?” She closed the bedroom door.
“I found my mate tonight.”
“What?! That’s great! Where is she?” Eliza immediately started to search in the bathroom and bedroom.
“She’s in a guest room. She hasn’t accepted me yet. She’s a little shy and nervous.” I explained to her. I ran my hands through my hair and fell back on the bed. “She’s the rogue that Hunter found tonight.”
“A rogue? Oh man, I’m sorry. What are you gonna do?” She asked.
“I asked her to stay, to let me in. I want to try.” I sat forward again. “She’s amazing, Liza. I can’t stop thinking about her.”
“Who is she?”
“Alina Heartsbane.”
It was like all the air was sucked out of her lungs. “Did you say Alina Heartsbane?”
“Yeah, wait why? Does it sound familiar?” Oh man, does my sister know her?
“The Heartsbanes have ruled the Ocean Wood pack for hundreds of years until eight years ago, they were all murdered by a huge pack of rogues. We all thought Alina was dead. Hate to you break it to you bro, your mate isn’t a rogue. She’s an alpha.”
ALINA
Rex was so gorgeous. The way his body moved when he walked. The way his jaw set when he was concentrating. What is wrong with me? I had spent most of my life on the run and alone with only Kiiya to keep me company. Now there was this Alpha wolf who I’m mated to and wants me to give him a chance.
You should. I can tell he cares about you. Kiiya said quietly.
Before I could respond, there was a knock on my door. A wave of pine trees flooded my nose.
Rex.
“Come in.”
Rex slowly opened the door and had a small pile of clothes in his hand. “My sister came by with some of her old clothes. She said she would come with us shopping tomorrow to help you pick out some clothes.”
I took the clothes from his hand and set them on the dresser. I pulled a pajama set from the top and headed into the bathroom to change. “Thank you.” I said quietly before I closed the door.
“I’ll come by in the morning to take you to the kitchen for breakfast. We can get an early start before the rest of the pack usually comes down.” Rex offered from outside the door.
After I changed, I stepped out of the bathroom and tossed the old clothes in a hamper. “That sounds good. I haven’t been around people a whole lot.”
Rex grabbed my hand and pulled me close to him. “We’ll take it slow, don’t worry.” He bent his head down and kissed my forehead before slipping from my grasp and leaving the room. “Good night.”
He shut the door behind him leaving me to my thoughts.
