ALINA
The next morning, the phone on my nightstand rang. I rolled over and pulled the phone to my ear. “Hello?”
“Alina?” Rex said softly. “Did I wake you?”
“It’s okay. You said we should eat early.” I scooted to a sitting position and pulled the covers to my chin.
“How did you sleep?” He asked.
“Beats the bed in my old apartment and the sand.” I giggled nervously.
I could picture Rex’s wonderful smile on his face. “I’m glad. I’ll come by in about twenty minutes, if you want to get ready.”
“Great, I’ll see you then.” I hung up the phone and jumped out of bed. I was more excited to see Rex then anything else that we would be doing today. With the twenty minutes I had, I showered quickly and brushed my teeth. Afterwards I picked out a pair of black jeans and a gray t-shirt from the pile. Next to it, it looks likes Rex left a pair of old converses from his sister. I looked at the tag and noticed they were a size eight.
Perfect. Just my size. I slipped on socks and tied the shoes up my ankles. Right on time, the door knocked. The Christmas smell was back and it was intoxicating. I pulled open the door to see Rex standing on the other side with a white rose in his hands.
He handed the flower to me, “I picked it from the gardens outside. I thought you would like it.”
“It’s perfect.” I lifted the flower to my nose and took a big whiff.
I set it on the dresser and went back to greet him. Rex wore dark blue jeans and a dark green v-neck of his torso. I could tell he had also showered this morning. He smelled of his mint shampoo and still like Christmas trees. The v-neck was probably smaller than it needed to be because it hugged his torso, but it didn’t matter to me. I liked it.
Rex held out his arm for me to lead me through the stone castle. “So the kitchens are downstairs on the first floor along with the rec room, a gym, and the infirmary where the pack doctor works. I can have Liza give you a tour later today. I know it’s a lot already.”
REX
Alina looked so cute in her jeans and converses. It was such a simple outfit, but damn her ass looked fantastic. “It’s all so big. I feel like I’m gonna get lost.”
I patted her hand. “Don’t worry, you’ll learn fast.”
I brought her down to the kitchens where Eliza, Hunter, and my Gammas were waiting. “Alina, this is my older sister Eliza.” Alina waved to my sister.
Liza looked a lot like me. She was only a year older, but she had long brown hair down to her waist and was about as tall as Alina, maybe an inch or two taller. She had the same colored eyes as me and lighter skin than Alina. She looked like she has spent a lot of time in the sun.
“Hi.” Alina said. Eliza waved and went back to digging through the fridge.
“And you remember Hunter, my Beta. My Gammas are Andy and his mate, Rachel.” I gestured to the couple fighting over who would make the pancakes.
“Hi.” Alina waved to them as they turned to get a look at her.
“You must be Alina!” Rachel said excitedly and nearly jumped over the island counter. “It’s about time Rex found a mate. He’s been driving us nuts.”
“Alright, easy Rachel.” I growled.
Alina snickered and nudged my side. “I didn’t realize he was so grumpy.”
“Maybe he’ll smile more.” Andy joked.
“As you can see, my Gammas are a couple of jokesters.” I grumbled. I pulled out a chair for her and sat down next to her. “Are you hungry?”
“Starving.”
