Chapter 12

AVA'S POV                     As I make my way back home, my heart feels a joy within me which I have never felt before.  There was an authentic bond in which I felt with Liam tonight.  I felt more like myself and confident in who I am than I have with anybody else before, including Alex.             I know what I must do, but I must talk to him in person.  This is not something I can do over the phone or text.  I’m not ready to do it tonight, I don’t want to break this feeling in which I am currently feeling from being with Liam.  I must talk to him tomorrow before I do anything else..             Pulling into the driveway, I still see the lights on in the house.  Usually by this time, my parents have gone to bed already.  I wonder why they are still awake; I wonder to myself.             “Mom, dad…”             Before I have an opportunity to say anymore, they cut me off in anger.  “You little s***.” I hear them scream at me. “How could you do this to Alex, to our family, you b****.”             I am completely startled by their reaction.  Although, they have never displayed a comforting love towards me; they have never spoke to me in such a manner before.             “Mom, dad, it was nothing; just having coffee with a friend.” I start to explain myself to them.  Although, at this point, they don’t want to hear what I have to say.  There is a whirl of anger swirling within their eyes as they glare daggers at me.             “You are to be wed to Alex in a couple months, you will not think about ending this marriage.  Do you hear me?”             “Yes, I hear you perfectly well,” I respond angrily as I am beginning to get fueled with anger. How dare they speak to me in this manner, and who are they to say who I should be with and not be with. “I will not be marrying Alex. I do not love him.”             “It’s not up for conversation young lady.”             As I start to leave the room to calm down, I am yanked back into the room by my mother.  “I am not done discussing this.  Where the h*** do you think you are going?!” she screams in my face.             I yank my arm away from her and am quickly slapped from my mother.  Before I have time to react, I notice another figure walk into the room.             “Alex,” I respond to him trying to get his attention to help me from my parents.             He strangely seems calm and cold as he directs his attention towards me.             “I always knew that you were a little s***, you b****,” he says looking me squarely in the eyes.  “We are going to get married though, and you will have no say in the matter.”             What the h*** is happening right now?  I don’t have to marry anybody against my wishes.  He cannot control me and my future.             “Who are you right now?!  How could you or well any of you to speak to me that way in which you are right now and trying to control me.” I respond as I gather my strength to confront all who are standing before me.             “Darling daughter, here’s where you are mistaken.  You have no idea who you are dealing with,” they respond coldly to me.  “We may have raised you, but you are not our child.”             What are they talking about?  They are my parents and I thought they loved me, although at this point, I am beginning to doubt that completely.             As I start to respond, I hear a loud growl coming from behind me as I am yanked in that direction. Who just grabbed me?  I quickly turn around and notice that it is Liam.  What is he doing here? I have never been so thankful to see him before now.              “Come on…. NOW!” he screams at me as he quickly yanks me out the back door and heading toward direction of the forest.             I hesitate as I glance back at my parents in hopes that I was imagining what just happened, but they look even angrier as they were before as they are glaring down Liam.  I’m afraid of what they will do next, so I bolt out the door alongside Liam.             He grabs my hands as we run towards the edge of the forest.  As we make our way through the entrance, I notice someone standing near where we are about to go past.             “Kristen!” I exclaim as I stare at her in shock to see her standing before us.  What is going on tonight? Why is nothing making sense?  Everything right now is unexpected, even down to her visit. “What are you doing here?”             “My dear Ava. I know nothing makes sense right now, but I am glad to see that you are following your heart.  It is what I have always hoped for you.  I had a vision of what was happening tonight, and I wanted to be here for you.  You need to trust your gut and leave to go with Liam.  I understand that everything seems confusing right now, but I need you to trust me on this,” she says to me before turning to Liam. “Please take care of my girl.  I trust you.”             “I will, she is my mate.”             I feel like all my thoughts are swirling right now.  None of what they are saying is making sense to me. And why are my parents behaving the way that they are?  And Alex, was he always this cruel and I just never noticed or is he someone different then I have come to know and love.             We make our way deep into the forest before we approach a breathtaking castle before our eyes.  As we make our way through the iron gates standing before the castle walls, we are approached by a beautiful young lady.  A wave of jealousy forms throughout me.  Who is she and why is she coming near him.             “Cordy, I have missed you sis.”             So she is just his sister.  I start to begin to relax, and at that point I begin to realize how weary I am after all the events of the night.             “Welcome back Li, she states before turning towards me.”             “You must be exhausted, I heard about all of which has happened tonight.  How about I show you to one of the guest rooms so you can get some sleep.  I’m sure you have a lot to think about tonight.”             “Thank you, I actually am drained.”             As I begin to make my way with his sister, Liam turns me to him and grabs the back of my waist pulling me in for a kiss. “I have waited too long for this.  Sweet dreams, my love.”
