ALPHA ROMAN’s POV
That night, I rolled on the bed battling with the thoughts in my head.
A truth I never believed was just revealed to me earlier today which contributed to the chronic headache I was having. Until now, I'm still shocked that I have just eleven months more to live.
According to my uncle, Francis Moore, a powerful mage in Crystal pack, whom I visited earlier before I met Aliandra, he said I had a tumor, and it is hereditary from my mother’s lineage.
Every male dies at a certain promising age of between twenty-six and Twenty-seven. I was Twenty-Six already which made me want to die from fear even when it wasn't time yet.
My parents are dead, but I was left with my lovely older sister, Ria, who is mated to Alpha Candice of Blackthorn Minor.
Ria confirmed this same truth to me, too, but since then, she has been traumatic and has fallen sick because I was going to die.
How can I just die? I never for once felt the sign of being sick. However, that was the same case with the men who died in my mother's lineage.
They never felt the impact of the tumor growing in their brain and sometimes may forget completely about it until death comes knocking to claim their soul to Hades.
Aside from dying, I had one more challenge that completely stole peace from me. It was my greatest plights and I hated mentioning it. I could run mad at the slightest remembrance of it.
Palming my face, I rolled to the other edge of the bed, battling with the disturbing headache that added to my pain.
Facing the wall clock, I calculated the number of hours I still had to spend on earth. I just have Eight thousand and thirty-five hours left.
Then, a thought from nowhere surfaced into my mind, occupying my head.
It was about Aliandra, the girl I saved in the Crystal Pack today.
I don't know why I was thinking about her, but something kept pushing me and telling me In my head that she had a solution to the second problem, the one I hated talking about.
Alessandra Montego is just a mere wolf without special powers. She can't save me from the course of death but—
She could be a solution to my toughest challenge.
I walked from the bed and sank on the couch, lost in a potent mixture of anxiety and excitement; with my anxiety surpassing my excitement.
I have no course to be excited about anything. What If Aliandra refuses to offer me that help? She looks like someone who can't be easily persuaded. Her boldness earlier woke me up to this reality.
Biting my lips in frustration, I hit the chair hard as if it was responsible for the pain that had settled with me and landed on the floor.
For two years now, I have never closed my eyes in sleep. While others slept peacefully, I remained awake, just watching the symphony of the chandelier lights in my room until the night would wear away and call in the day.
In the same condition that night, I kept my eyes open till the next day when the morning sun had risen to the earth.
Rising from the floor which I collapsed earlier, I sauntered to the attached bathroom in my room to have a bath and thereafter left for my relaxation spot not too far from the garden.
I caught a glimpse of one of my maids and I instructed her to attend to the needs of my guest, Aliandra, and bring her to me after breakfast.
The maid bowed and disappeared to carry out my orders.
In less than an hour when I sat, lost in the reverie of my death, I heard the doorbell chime.
“ Come in," I said and sipped my water in the facade of relaxation.
The door flung apart and without looking at the people coming, I could tell who they were from my head.
They were: Aliandra, the girl I saved and May Luca, My house manager, the lady who is sick and in love with me, but I don't give a damn about her existence.
“My lord, Miss Aliandra Is here at your command," May’s melliferous voice echoed courteously in my ears, cutting romantically down to my spine
“ Leave us immediately, May” I commanded, my attention not moving from the empty ceiling.
Aliandra walked to where I sat, and I was forced to shift my eyes from the empty ceiling to her.
" You sent for me, my Alpha,” She said with a beautiful, enticing smile that caused my skin to crawl.
‘ My Alpha?’ Those powerful words hit me hard on my head, and I can't help but think she's mine already.
Yes, I wanted her. I wanted something from her that would ease my pain forever.
“Please sit. I can see you slept well" I studied her carefully. She looks beautiful and refreshed. Not like me, who hasn't shut my eyes for once in two years now.
“ Yes, Alpha. I slept well. Thank you for yesterday. You saved my life from those gangsters. It would have been a different story entirely.” her voice filled with appreciation lifted my countenance.
“ It's nothing big. Everyone else in my shoes will do that, too." I stopped and studied her mood. She was all peaceful.
We got into talking and from there, Aliandra told me the reason she was running away from her Pack that night.
It was Some kind of pathetic story that left me wondering if she was candid with her narration. How can she be faced with those cyclones and remain unfazed, wearing a smiling face? Impossible!
She asked why I came to her pack that night and I told her I needed to visit someone.
Talking to Aliandra calmed my nerves. She is sweet and conversational, the direct opposite of me, but I ended up flowing with her.
“ I ask the maid to bring you here for a purpose, actually,” I started the main conversation.
" Oh, you said you wanted to see me yesterday, too,” She reminded me of my words yesterday with a questioning expression on her face.
Slowly, I stood up from where I sat and walked to her, knowing the gravity of what I had in mind.
I sat down close to her and took her hands, clenching mine to hers.
She flinched, feeling somewhat uncomfortable but maintained calmness.
“ Aliandra, " I called with a serious tone, my eyes red like they would drop a tear.
“ Yes, " She answered softly while our warm hands remained clenched.
I raised my face to her and our eyes met.
“ Can you do me a favor?" I asked pleadingly, my expression emotionless.
" What favor, my lord?” Her piercing, deep black eyes, full of consideration, brought hope to me.
Pausing, I exhaled, letting Aliandra feel my pain and I said, " I saved your life yesterday. I want you to save mine too. Be a mate and give me an heir before six months”
I proposed, but at my words, Aliandra flung her hands away from mine, miseries clouding her face.
