Chapter 8

    Eventually Alexis falls back to sleep in his arms so he gently lays her back in the bed. He takes this opportunity to carefully lift her sleeve trying to get any more information. It looks as if she has scrubbed her skin raw in the shower but under that there are definite bruises. Fingers. Someone held her arm so tight it left bruises. Now that she is laying he looks at her neck again. The same bruises in the shape of fingers are on her neck but they are at an odd angle. It's as if the attacker was behind her rather than in front of her. He covers her up and makes his way to her closet.

    She really didn't want him touching her clothes so he wants to check to see if there is blood. If there is then he will need to see her body to check for cuts. She was obviously abused. He turns her shirt and sweatshirt inside out. Seeing no sign of blood he moves to the wadded up pants. He immediately sees blood in the crotch. Period? Maybe, but her reaction was too severe for it to just be mere embarrassment. Plus he's a doctor. At the same time she hasn't gone to the doctors before so she wouldn't be used to having those types of conversations. Puzzling. He is trying to keep the glaringly obvious reason out of his mind. The signs are there though. She won't talk to anyone, does not want anyone to touch her, scrubbed her skin raw in the shower and now this... She was raped.

    Raj is about to explode. He throws her clothes back into the hamper and rushes out of the room sternly telling Eric that no one is to enter her room for any circumstance unless it is a female maid to deliver food. Even then the maid is not to go four feet past the door unless asked to by Alexis. He briskly walks to Damian's office. Opening the door and slamming it shut again he goes straight for the liquor cabinet to get some bourbon. Damian just sits there stunned at what Raj just did. Raj pours himself a three finger glass of bourbon on the rocks and sits angrily in the chair across from Damian.

    "So are you going to tell me what's wrong or do I need to start yelling at you for your blatant disrespect." Damian growls at Raj who makes no effort to even look his way.

    "She was raped." Raj growls into his glass before taking a long pull.

    "What?"

    Raj puts the glass down on his knee and looks straight into Damian's eyes, "Damian, I don't know for sure because she didn't tell me, but all the clues are pointing to one thing." He takes another swig looking Damian straight in the eyes once again. "I'm 95% sure that Alexis was raped at school today."

    Fury is all that Raj can see behind Damian's eyes, "WHAT?! Who the f**k did this?! I need names and I need them now!" Raj just sits there waiting for him to calm down a bit. Damian growls at his silence stands and takes the glass pen holder on his desk slamming it against the wall. "Tell me!"

    Raj sighs. "She isn't talking Damian. All I know is that she went to first period, Mr. Waldorf's class, then left because he told her she graduated and no longer needed to be there." Damian growls at the lack of information. "I do know it happened at school though and I'm pretty sure by one or two schoolmates of hers."

    "TWO?!"

    "The bruising I saw indicates that there were probably two people involved. One holding her down while the other..." Raj trails off the sentence knowing there is no need to finish. This time Damian picks up his computer and throws it against the window shattering it to pieces. 

    Damian takes a few hard breaths trying to reign in his anger while Raj remains seated with the glass pressed to his lips. He takes his seat, "We need to find out who did this."

    "Well I doubt it's going to come from Alexis. At least no time soon." Raj states setting the now empty glass on the desk.

    "I know. We will have to do our own investigation. Anyone who harms a woman is despicable." Damian looks down at the desk in thought. "Okay here's what we will do, we will send in one of our young recruits to ask around about Alexis."

    "How will that work? No one is going to just fess up to it."

    "I don't need them to fess up I just need someone to show a distaste for her when the subject is brought up, then we can bring up the names to Alexis and see what she does. We will send in Bobby. Even though he's 20 he looks young enough to be a senior. We will admit him and enroll him in the same classes that Alexis was in. He can ask around about her saying they grew up together and he just moved back and wanted to see her. Anyone who shows any sign of dislike should be reported to me at the end of the school day." Damian is wanting to try anything to know who harmed Alexis. Though he doesn't care for her and this is merely an arranged marriage she is his responsibility and on top of that woman beaters and rapists are the lowest of the low and there is no place in society for them. Plus this happening will only make the marriage more difficult than it already was going to be. He was hoping at some point there would at least be a mutual respect and understanding between the two of them but after this it may never happen.

    "Alright well you can get that started then. I am going to my office to pick up some medicine for Alexis then head to her room." Raj gets up from his seat.

    "Medicine?"

    "Yes pain medication and...a day after pill." Damian's eyes light up again in anger. "Just to be on the safe side."

    "Go." Damian states coldly. As Raj is leaving Damian shouts, "John!" John hurriedly enters the office as Raj leaves.    

    "Yes?" John bows slightly in submission.

    "I need Bobby brought up to me immediately." John bows and goes to leave, "and bring one of the IT guys as well."

    "Yes boss." John exits closing the door behind him.

    Raj has gotten the medicine and the ice he wanted for her face earlier before she fell asleep and is now standing in front of Alexis' door. "Eric any updates?"

    "No doctor I think she is still sleeping."

    "Right. Again if I call for you be ready." Eric nods as Raj opens the door. He sees Alexis still asleep on the bed and turns back to Eric, "Actually can you also tell one of the maids to bring up some food as well?" As Eric turns around talking in his headset Raj shuts the door behind him. He sets the ice on the side table then goes to the bathroom to get a glass of water and a rag to wrap around the ice. Heading back to the side of her bed he sets his supplies down and then brings a chair over so he can sit beside the bed. Once seated he takes a breath and places a hand on her shoulder, "Alexis? Alexis sweetie it's Raj, time to wake up."

    She starts to stir and open her eyes. When her eyes are partially open she sees him leaning towards her and pushes him back. "Stop don't touch me! Get away! I don't want it!" She scrambles to the other side of the bed and brings up the covers around her as a shield.

    Raj shocked at first just sits there but then after a few moments goes to sit on the bed to get closer to her. As he does this she starts screaming, "Help! Help me!"

    Raj quickly places his hand on her shoulder and pulls her to him, "It's okay, you're okay you're safe. Alexis it's me, it's Raj. You are safe here. No one is going to hurt you here." As he is saying this he is rubbing her back while her screaming turns to sobs. Raj only releases his hold on her once her sobs become quiet whimpers. He pulls back and looks at her face. "Are you okay?"

    Alexis takes a few breaths and nods. "I-I'm sorry I was dreaming. I-I didn't know."

    "Hey it's okay there is no need for apologies." Raj says giving her a warm smile. After a little bit he goes back to sitting on the chair beside the bed. "I brought some medicine for you."

    "Medicine?" Alexis questions.

    Has she not had medicine before? "Yes you know to help with your pain I brought some Ibuprofen and I also brought something else." He said handing her all three pills and the water.

    She takes them from him. "Okay well what is the other one for?"

    "It's the day after pill." Raj says in hopes that he doesn't have to explain further.

    "The day after pill? I think I have heard of that but I don't remember where I heard about it or what it's used for.." Alexis said looking in the medicine cup at the pills.

    "Alexis?"

    "Hmm?" Alexis hums looking up at Raj.

    "It's a pill woman use to prevent pregnancy after sex." Raj looks into her eyes seeing the wheels turning in her head. Her stare going from confusion to realization.
