Chapter 28I walked up to the door and knocked. My oldest granddaughter opened the door with a big smile followed by my five grandchildren. I bent down to their level and gave each a big hug and a kiss. I stood up and there was Sherry with a big smile. We hugged and then she stood back and the smile turned almost to a smirk. With an inquisitive look in her eye, she said, “We expected you several days ago.” I smiled and gave her a look that communicated, let’s not go there. She stepped in close and gave me a big hug and said, “I’m glad you are safe and here.” “Thanks Sherry. It’s good to see you.” Then I looked past her and saw Cindy pouring herself a glass of wine in the kitchen. My first impulse was to run to her and hold tight in my arms, but I remembered where I was and caught myself.
