Silas POV
Hey bro, you know your girl’s Beta is staring at you like you murdered his children, right? Garrett links me a couple hours into this meeting. Meeting wise, everything is actually going pretty smoothly. A solid plan was in place and we’re just working on solidifying details. I already linked our head trainer Nick and told him to reach out to Leah’s head trainer while we’re here. Since they’ll be working together to get these packs into shape, they may as well get a head start. I also sent a text to Liam checking in, and told him I’d be reaching out later so he can get started on preparations back home.
But, while everything was going smoothly with that, I could tell s**t’s about to hit the fan when it came to everything else. The council has been looking back and forth between Leah and I all day, and I swear to f**k, that asshole Everett tried sniffing me when he walked by. Like what the hell did he think he’s gonna do? And why the hell is it any of their damn business?
And Garrett’s right, Brett has been staring at me all f*****g morning with a damn death glare on his face. Even Kingston’s getting uncomfortable and kept snarling in my head. King was starting to take it like Brett’s challenging us, and his Alpha tendencies were flaring. Brett and I will be having a conversation after the meeting was over.
Yeah, I know. It’s driving King crazy. He thinks he’s challenging us.
Maybe King’s right. It sure as hell looks that way.
Why? What the f**k did I do to him?
Maybe he has a thing for Leah? Who knows?
King and I both growl at the idea of the Beta having any feelings that aren’t brotherly towards our mate. But, somehow I think it’s more than that.
Well I plan on finding out once this is over.
Garrett just nods. As douchebag Everett continues to drone on, I make eye contact with Leah. She actually keeps it and returns my smile. Goddess, it’s a f*****g miracle. Maybe I’m winning her over after all.

Finally, they call a break for lunch, and I know Everett is trying to get mine and Leah’s attention. I completely ignore him and walk up to Brett, who’s packing up his stuff and apparently arguing with Gabe.
“Hey man, can I talk to you a minute?” I ask him. Leah looks at me curiously, but I shake my head slightly in a I’ll tell you later gesture. She just nods and tells us that she’ll meet us in the mess hall.
I jerk my head to the door as a sign to Brett to leave the room. I don’t need these nosy fuckers listening in on our conversation. I’m not Brett’s Alpha, and Leah and I haven’t officially marked and mated, so Brett doesn’t have to listen to me, but I appreciate that he does.
Once we are in a semi private place I ask him, “Ok, what’s your problem with me?”
“I’m not sure what you’re talking about Alpha,” Brett says way too formally.
I roll my eyes at him. Kingston is already growling in my head. This guy is irritating the f**k out of him. “Cut the Alpha crap. Whether you like it or not, because I’m guessing that’s your problem, Leah and I are mates. So at some point we’re gonna have to work together. And I know how important you are to Leah, so I’d rather not be at each other’s throats all the time. She’d hate it.”
Brett’s eyes softens a bit, and he absently rubs the scar that crosses his face. But his words didn’t match his actions, “I haven’t said anything to you. So I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“No, maybe you haven’t said anything, but I’m not f*****g blind you know. I can see you staring at me. I don’t know what the f**k your problem is, but my wolf is taking it as a challenge. So unless you wanna fight an Alpha wolf right now, I suggest you cut the crap and tell me what the f**k your problem is.”
Brett sighs as he leans against the wall, “I’m not trying to challenge you. So please tell your wolf to back off. And it’s not really you personally. I’d be like this with anyone who mated with Leah.”
Shit. Is he in love with her? I really f*****g hope not. I’ll be spending every minute he’s alone with Leah seething with jealousy and battling King to keep him from killing him. Brett seems to understand my train of thought, because he replies, “I don't love her, not that way. I thought I did, a while ago. But no, she’s just my little sister. I just want to make sure she’s safe and cared for. And I want to protect our pack.
I growl at him and it takes every fiber in my body not to launch at him and pin his f*****g ass to the wall. Safe and cared for? Of course she would be with me, I’m her mate. And this pack s**t? What is his and Leah’s deal with that?
“First, you better think the next time you open your mouth. Of course Leah would be safe and cared for with me. I may have only known her for a day, but I would already gladly die for her. She’s my mate. From the second I laid eyes on her, hell from the second I smelled her, my sole purpose in life was to make her happy. Second, what the f**k is yours and Leah’s deal with the pack s**t. I got my own pack with almost 2,000 wolves, why the f**k does everyone think I’m trying to steal your pack too? Obviously we will all have to work together and establish some ground rules. But Leah is Alpha of Crescent Moon, not me and I don’t plan to be. And for that matter, what do you think, I somehow faked the mate bond with the plan to steal your pack?”
Brett’s eyes got wide as he thought this through. Then he quietly responded, “It’s happened before.”
“What? What’s happened before?”
Brett scrubbed his hands through his hair, “Listen, talk to Leah. But someone tried to fake the mate bond before in an attempt to woo Leah and take our pack and resources. It didn’t work. She didn’t respond to him the way she does to you. But, the thought crossed my mind. And then when you two came down together this morning, I knew you had s*x, and my mind went wild. It would break Leah to lose this pack. It would break me.”
Well s**t. I didn’t even know where to begin. Well Kingston hadsan idea. And that’s to find the fucker who tried to fake the bond and kill him. While that’s high on my list, there is some other s**t I have to work through first.
Before I could speak Brett replied, “I’m sorry if I was being rude and judging you off of other's actions. You seem to genuinely care for Leah, so I’ll do my best to back off. But I swear to you right now, if you ever do anything to hurt Leah or purposely hurt this pack, I will kill you. Alpha or not.”
I’d like to see him try. But I nod. Hell if I purposely hurt Leah, I'd probably just let him kill me. “That’s fair. So are we cool for now?” I extend my hand to Brett.
“Yeah, we’re cool for now.” He shakes my hand and we head over to the mess hall to meet the rest of the group.

Leah POV
The rest of the day sped by, and thank Goddess, all the packs will be leaving tomorrow morning to make preparations with their own packs. Well all except Silas. During lunch we agreed that Garrett will go back to their pack and help Liam start with preparations while Silas will stay for another few days. This will be his chance to really see the territory, meet the pack, and be officially announced as my mate. Then I will go back with him to Fallen Oak and we’d do the same there. After that, I have no clue what we’ll do.
When Brett and Silas came back, they both seemed more relaxed and Brett even attempted to have a normal conversation with him. I’m not sure what the hell is going on, but at least it seems like they are working it out. After lunch, the rest of the day went smoothly. I have no idea how we managed to avoid speaking to the council but we did, and now Silas and I are just lounging on the couch in my room, getting to know each other better.
“Favorite color,” I ask him.
“Black,” he replies and I roll my eyes.
“Really black? That’s so boring.”
“Oh yeah, and what’s yours?”
“Seafoam green,” I tell him. This goes on for a bit as I cuddle up in his arms, enjoying the sparks shooting off each other’s bodies,
“Moyo,” he asks me, “You wanna go on a run? I think Kingston and Sienna would like to officially meet each other.”
I laugh. “Don’t you think they already did that last night?”
He smiles at me as he traces a pattern on my thigh, “I mean in wolf form.”
The second the words are out of his mouth Sienna screams, Yes, please Leah? I want to meet my mate in his true form.
“Sure,” I tell Silas, let’s go.
Sienna is howling with joy in my head as the two of us head out of the pack house and into the backyard.
As Silas is stripping, I can’t help but ask him, “Does King have all four limbs?”
“Yes,” he says as he brings me close and kisses my head. We’re both completely naked, just somewhat protected by the trees, but we are shifters, so nudity is something we’re pretty comfortable with.
“After it happened, which I will tell you about, but I prefer to do it when I have clothes on,” he quickly adds. I nod in agreement. There is no way I’d talk about my dad in the position we were in right now. “But anyway, after I lost my leg, the council was very concerned on whether my wolf would have all it’s limbs. They kept telling my mom that while as a man I could still be capable, there would be no way an Alpha wolf with three legs could successfully run a pack,” he grunted, clearly pissed just by the memory. “It was something that loomed over our heads all my life. I was determined to be just as strong if not stronger than any other Alpha, regardless how many legs my damn wolf had. I trained harder, I fought more. I knew I’d be fighting the council if on my first shift my wolf only had three legs, and I was prepared. But the day before my 18th birthday the Moon Goddess came to me in a dream and told me I was destined for great things and that she would bless me. The next day, I shifted, and King had all four legs.” Silas laughed, “Every member of the council was there for my shift, with the petition for me to be removed in their f*****g hand. You better f*****g believe Garrett recorded their faces when I shifted into King. I still watch it from time to time.”
I laugh and kiss Silas gently. I quickly break it off before it can escalate. “Alright, let’s shift before anyone comes by.”
Silas groans, but nods. I take a step back and let Sienna take over. By this point, shifting is completely natural to me and painless. It takes less than 30 seconds for me to shift completely.
Once Sienna is completely in control, we look over at Silas who’s still in his human form, staring at us in amazement. I know what he’s seeing. Sienna is a large she-wolf, bigger than any she-wolf and any non ranking male wolf. She is slightly smaller than Brett’s wolf Titan, and just bigger than Gabe’s wolf Hunter. She’s almost completely chocolate brown except for the white on her paws, tail and muzzle and her eyes are a deep blue.
“Holy s**t, Sienna, you’re gorgeous. King’s a lucky guy.” Sienna is preening at our mate’s praise and lopes over to him, rubbing our muzzle across his bare stomach. Silas laughs and pets us affectionately. “Ok, ok, I’ll shift. I just wanted to say hi first.”
Silas finally shifts and oh Goddess, both Sienna and I are completely dumbstruck. He is a massive wolf, like most Alpha’s, but he has to be the largest wolf I have ever seen. He is completely silver from head to toe except his eyes. They are still green like Silas’, but a much deeper and darker green like, emerald. Sienna is instantly melting.
Kingston and Sienna take a few minutes to get to know each other. They sniff and paw at each other and soon are playing roughly, tackling each other and running around like pups. Since Silas and I aren’t marked yet, we can’t link, but Sienna and Kingston seem to be communicating just fine. After a little bit of playing around, and probably a little more than playing around, Kingston stands up and jerks his muzzle towards the woods, indicating he wants to go for a run. Sienna nods and follows after him, both of them filled with joy.
