Silas POV
While Garrett texted Chelsea non stop during our four hour car ride, I take the opportunity to learn more about the Crescent Moon pack, and its Alpha, Leah Giametti. I didn’t have a ton of information since their pack tended to keep quiet and to themselves, but I hate going onto someone else’s territory uninformed.
It looked like Leah took over after her father died in a rogue attack a few years back. From all the reports, the pack had been thriving under her leadership. They were one of the wealthiest packs in the country and were known for their state of the art security and well trained warriors. It was impressive. I knew first hand how hard it was for a female Alpha to get the respect and courtesy she deserves to properly run a pack, and it seemed like she was doing pretty good for herself.
Besides that there wasn’t much information on Crescent Moon. They were centrally located, which was the council’s reasoning for hosting this on her territory. The pack owned quite a few local businesses, like most packs do, including mine. They are what gives the packs the money to run self sufficiently without needing the human government to get involved.
I look over at Garrett who was staring at his phone, a dazed expression in his eyes and drool practically dripping out of his mouth. I could smell his arousal “The f**k man?” I snap, “What the f**k are you doing? You better not be sexting in the damn car next to me.”
Garrett looked up from the phone and for the second time today blushed. I never saw the guy blush in my whole damn life before today. “Sorry man. It was just something Chelsea sent me.”
“Well can you tell her to hold up sending you nudes till you’re in your own room? We’re wolves remember? I don’t need to smell that shit.”
“Right sorry. It’s just so hard. I miss her so much already.”
I grunted. I really wasn’t in the mood to hear all about his perfect love. “Well, anyway,” I said, changing the subject, “What do you know about the Crescent Moon pack? I never really interacted with them.”
Garett shrugged and leaned back. “Not much. I slept with a she-wolf from there a few years back. But I don’t remember much except she was a blonde with a kick ass body. We didn’t really talk about her pack.”
I rolled my eyes, “Thank God you found your mate. It’s a miracle you don’t have half a dozen babies out there right now.”
“Yes, well I’m lucky Chelsea was so understanding of my past.”
He got that right. A lot of other girls wouldn’t have been so kind. “Why do you ask?” He asks me, referring to my question about Crescent Moon.
“I like to be prepared.”
Garrett shrugged as he leaned his head back against the car seat, “I don’t know man. Their army is impressive. I plan to sneak down to their training grounds, maybe get a few ideas. Besides that, I don't know much. I know they have a chick as their Alpha.”
“Everyone knows that. And her name is Leah. She’s an Alpha before she’s a female, you need to show her respect when you meet her.”
Garrett rolled his eyes, “Yeah yeah, I know. I don’t plan on calling her the Alpha chick to her face, I’m not stupid.”
I sighed. I wasn’t going to get anything from him. I didn’t know why I cared so much anyway. I switched my focus and began to read and go through some paperwork I had uploaded onto my phone for the trip. If I had to sit in the car for four hours, I may as well make the most out of it.
At some point I must’ve dozed off because I feel Garrett shaking my arm. “Hey, Si, wake up. We’re entering their territory.” Our car pulled up at the entrance of Crescent Woods. Like most packs, it was buried deep in the woods. Five wolves stood near the front entrance. Two were in wolf form, and were both massive grey wolves. The other three were in human form. Two of them were well over six foot and all muscle. They weren’t quite as big as me, since Alpha’s are typically the largest in the pack, but they were clearly warriors. The third man was smaller for a wolf, and a little on the skinny side.
The smaller man walked up to the driver side window, a tablet in his hand. He smiled as he leaned down into the car, “Good afternoon, I’m Logan Temple, the Gamma male here. May I ask what pack is checking in?”
“Fallen Oak,” my driver answered for us.
Logan nodded and clicked some keys on his tablet. He looked in the backseat at Garrett and I. “Alpha Davis?” He said looking directly at me. I nod in greeting. As big as Garrett is, there’s really no mistaking I’m the Alpha.
“It’s nice to meet you. Beta Johnson,” he gave us each a respectful nod. “If your driver will just follow the path down a few miles, you'll land right at the Pack House. Once you’re there, we will show you where to park your cars and where your accommodations will be. Alpha Giametti as well as the Council are there to greet everybody.”
Great. Can’t wait to meet the f*****g council. They are probably waiting with bated breath for me to get there so they can tell me everything I did wrong in my entire life. Well f**k them.
I realize that Logan is staring at me strangely, and I guess he must’ve asked me a question. Having no idea what he said, I just nodded my head. “Thank You. We appreciate your hospitality.” There, at least I wasn’t rude.
Both he and Garrett have an amused expression on their face, but neither say anything. “Have a good stay,” Logan tells us as he steps away from the car. I see his eyes haze over as he backs up, no doubt mind linking someone of our arrival.
The car begins snaking up the winding pathway to the pack house. It really is a beautiful territory. The forest is lush and dense, making it the perfect place to hide a thousand wolves or so. Their security is evident. In addition to the guards and warriors walking around in both human and wolf form all throughout the territory, I can make out cameras and motion sensors all around the border. Even with all the security, they weren’t immune to the recent kidnappings. If I remembered correctly, three of their own had gone missing.
The closer we got to the pack house, the more nuts my wolf Kingston started to get. He’s pacing around in my head and growling like a f*****g lunatic. Yo, King, what’s up man?”
I trust my wolf’s instincts. If he’s going nuts, there’s probably a good reason.
I don’t know. Something is different.
What does that even mean? Different how? I’m not sensing anything? Bad? Are we in danger?
Kingston kept pacing. He was giving me a f*****g headache. No, I don’t think bad. I don’t know. Something is up.
I look over at Garrett who was calmly texting. Nick and Jackson are in the front seat and look fine too. “Are your wolves acting weird?” I ask them.
Garrett looks at me strangely and Nick turns around to look at me, “Well Zion is always weird. But nothing weirder than usual. Why?”
“How about you two?” I asked Jackson and Nick. They both shake their heads.
“No Alpha,” they reply in unison, “Is everything ok?”
“I don’t know. King is going crazy. Just stay on high alert.”
“Yes, Alpha,” Nick replied as his eyes went foggy, linking the car with the rest of the warriors.
I sat up straighter and began paying closer attention to my surroundings. Even Garrett put down his phone and was alert. He could be an i***t sometimes, but he was damn good at his job. If this was an ambush or something, we would be ready.
The smell hit me when we were about a quarter of a mile from the pack house. Cinnamon and brown sugar, kind of like a snickerdoodle cookie. It was so alluring I almost jumped out of the damn moving car to follow it. If I thought Kingston was already going nuts, he just about lost his f*****g mind as the smell hit both of us full stop.
I breathed it in, trying to get an idea of where it was coming from. Just then I felt a tug in my jeans and looked down. My c**k’s at full mast, straining against my pants. From f*****g cookies? What the hell is going on?
I’m about to just jump out of the car when, finally, Jackson stopped driving. We must have arrived at the pack house. I could vaguely sense Jackson and Nick getting out of the car. I could hear Garrett talking to me as he tugged on my arm. I knew there were a ton of wolves around and a lot of activity. But all of it was background noise. My only focus was on the woman standing tall and proud in front of the stairs that led to the pack house.
She was on the taller side for a woman. While it was hard to tell her exact height, she wasn’t much shorter than the men that stood on either side of her. She was thin but you could see how strong and muscular she was. Her arms were well defined in the tank top and looked sexy as hell. Her thighs and hips were the perfect amount of curvy in her tight black pants. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on her ass. Her breasts weren’t huge but they would be a nice handful. Her long honey blonde hair hung down to her mid back. Goddess, it was so beautiful, I had the sudden urge to run my hands through it. I bet is was so f*****g soft. Her skin was so pale she looked like a porcelain doll, but not nearly as fragile. Her lips were full and pouty, and by the way they were pursed, she was clearly annoyed. I wanted to kiss the pout right off her lips. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I needed to see if she tasted as sweet as she looked. Wait what? What the f**k am I saying? Why am I thinking about this girl like this?
MATE! Kingston shouted in my head. That’s mate! Get out of the f*****g car and claim mate!
Kingston’s words snapped me out of my stupor. I realized I was still sitting in the car, my legs hanging out and on the ground, my hand still on the car door. Everybody was looking at me like I lost my damn mind. Which I guess I did. I pushed myself out of the car, and ignoring everyone else focused on the woman in front of me. I needed to get closer. I needed to make her mine.
The woman turned her head and our eyes met. I was hypnotized. Her large brown eyes were staring daggers into my soul, claiming me with their look. She was in the same trance as me. The guy next to her shook her arm, trying to get her attention, and I growled. Who the f**k is that guy to touch my mate?”
The touch got my mate out of her trance though. She shook her head trying to clear the fog, and for a brief moment I saw panic in those beautiful eyes.
I could hear Garrett trying to get my attention, “Silas, are you ok? What the f**k is wrong man?” he whispered to me.
I could barely speak. Kingston kept screaming in my head. Get mate! Mark her now. He was this close to taking over. But I could tell by my mate’s expression she would not be ok with this. I had to stay calm.
King, chill the f**k out man. Let me talk to her first.
All I could focus on was my mate as she whispered something to the asshole who touched her and made her way towards me, a serious expression on her face.
“Silas,” Garrett yelled louder this time, grabbing my arm. I pull my arm away and start walking towards my mate. I need to touch her. Claim her. Taste her. Make her mine in front of the whole damn world.
“Mate.” I managed to choke out as I all but ran to my mate.
