CHAPTER 13: Into the Night

"Ok guys we need to go over our code words"
1. **Hawk** - High vantage point or lookout.
2. **Stream** - Safe route or path.
3. **Nest** - Secure or safe location.
4. **Echo** - Repeat or confirm message.
5. **Frost** - Danger or enemy presence.
"Some of the code words we learned in training so far. we can utilize it tonight to keep each other safe just in case" Leo says
We grabbed our bags and headed out. Leo and Mia hold a flame at the tip of their finger. While Mia has the best control, Leo's fire is stronger. While I still cant produce anything worth notice. So I stand in between them so I could see from both sides.
"Ok the map says we need to go to the girls bathroom and find a flame emblem"
"Ok let's head out"
As we make our way we hear teachers coming around the hall headed straight towards us.
"Frosty" Leo whispers
"Now that's she's of age we need to keep her under the radar under our protection"
Leo grabs Mia and I, we duck behind a dragon statue hugging the wall.
We watch as the two teachers walk past continuing their conversation.
I let go of a breathe I didn't know I was holding. Trying to calm my breathing.
"Who do you think they were referring to" Mia asked
"Honestly I don't know. We can think about that later, right now we need to make it to the bathroom without being caught."
We hurry to the bathroom.
Now typically we wouldn't have to sneak but Leo is with us and last bathroom breaks are at 11.
As we reach the bathroom we start looking for the emblem I seen on the map.
10 mins later
"Ok guys I don't see a fire emblem maybe the map is bullshit" Mia says
"We need to keep looking. if we don't find it in another 20 mins we give up"
We continue to search and go over the map once more to make sure we're in the right place
"Ok Mia search low
Leo you search high
and I'll search eye level"
15 mins later
"Ok guys our time is almost up."
"Well it is hard looking for something in the dark"
As she said it she light her finger up and spun around
Something caught my eye just as quick as it happened it was gone
"Stop"
Mia froze "What?"
"Turn slowly"
she did as she was told
"There" I point to a bathroom stall door
we rush over.
"Wow we wouldn't have found this if it wasn't for the fire.." Leo says
We knew it was a fire emblem why didn't we think fire would find it sooner
We held a light up and saw that it indeed was like a button. I tried to push it. But it wouldn't budge
"Ok mia how about you put fire on it" I say
"Why would I set the bathroom on fire jade"
"Because we clearly need fire to make this work so just try, if it doesn't work we'll put the fire out quickly" I say
Mia goes to light the emblem and that's when it happened.......
Stairs appeared as the toilet and wall behind it turned around.
"Ok guys remember our code words and stay together" Leo says
"You first Leo" I say kinda giving him a push
"Why me?"
"Cause you're the man"I say rolling my eyes
"Ok you're right I'll go first in case theirs danger."
He steps into the stairs and walk down while lighting the way.
I go next since I can't see
then Mia.
As Mia enters fully the toilet stall closes behind her
We check the wall and there is no exit
"Ok guys I guess ahead is the only way".
With Leo continuing the walk, we walk for what feels like 5 mins. we came to a dead end.
"ok we can mark this as stream"
So we all started looking for another fire emblem "ahhh right there" Leo points.
And then he lights the emblem on fire which caused the wall to break apart like magic.
Honestly everything still shocks me. It feels like yesterday I was being bullied in highschool school for being "weird" now I'm exploring toilet halls with my friends.
We stepped through the wall into a room.
We looked for a light to turn on.
As the room light up we saw that the room was a large common room.
"Nest" Leo says as he's done surveying the room
There's walls full of books, pictures hanging on the wall, couches in the middle of the room in a circle..etc
"Guys look" they came over to see exactly what I was referring too.
There is a picture of at least 50 people all with the same emblem.
"OH MY GOD my parents are right there" Leo points to a man and woman.
"WOW my parents are right here too" Mia says pointing to her parents.
"You wouldn't believe this. My parents are here too." I say
"WHERE" they ask in unison
"Right here" I said pointing directly in the middle where my mom and dad were standing.
"WTF is going on guys, they were clearly all apart of some secret organization"
" Why wouldn't my parents tell me about this, we talk about everything" Mia says
"Well clearly they didn't trust us to share important information" Leo says
"Well I just found out about my dragon heritage like a week ago" I say dramatically while going to take a seat.
"We need to ask them as soon as we get up in the morning" Mia says
"I won't stand for this" Leo says clearly upset.
"Ok so we know this is a secret organization but we need to know what the group was formed for" I say while surveying more pictures
"We know our parents are loving people so I'm sure it was for a good reason" Mia says going to sit down
" Since we confirmed the map is true we can do more exploring tomorrow but we need to get back to bed before patrol at 130" Leo says
"We just have 1 problem" I say
"And what exactly is that?" Mia asks
"Well how do we get out" I say looking at both of them
"Oh right, fuck.. we need to start looking for a way out now. it's already 1am looking for the emblem in the bathroom took us like 30 mins." Leo says
"We have 15 mins tops. scatter" I say
"Guys I found an emblem but it's not the same type." Mia says
We rush over
"Ok i saw this on the map I think it's a water emblem look like it leads to the other side of the castle we need to find the fire emblem" Leo says
"Here guys I found it" I say
"Ok I found two other emblems all representing the for elements just like how were separated in school." Leo says
"They must all lead to the other parts of the castle like shown on the map" I say
"Ok guys we have 10 mins to get back to our rooms. Leo will be on his own after we leave the bathrooms."
"Let's go."
As we exited the tunnel back into the bathroom
Leo takes a Hawkeye.
"Ok guys hurry and run. patrol starts in 5 mins exactly" Leo says to us as he takes off running towards the boys dorm
We ran so fast to our room it felt like my feet was on fire. But we made it just in time.
"Ok get some rest" I say to Mia before stripping naked and getting under my covers.
