Chapter 1
*TAELYN*
Who said that being a teenager was easy? Who said that being a female was painless? Whomever said that, they freaking lied. Anyways, now that I got that out of the way, I'll introduce myself. My name is Taelyn Yanely Marquez I live in small town in South Dakota. I'm 14 years old and I have 3 siblings. The oldest is my brother Jadiel Alexander he's 21 up next is my twin brother Jacob he is 2 minutes younger than me. Jacob Isaiah and I are as close as sand and ocean we always do everything together. Wait. Not everything. Ugh, whatever. Lastly my 10 year old little sister Adanely Gabrielle. Our father Max and our mother Vanessa are the most admirable parents ever as they put up with all their children, especially with Jacob and me.
"Jacob, Taelyn!" My father roared. "When are you guys' going to behave?" Our father's narrowed eyes and lips pressed together were clues that he is slightly irritated with us, again as it's the third time we get in trouble today. We have summer vacations and apparently it's more prominent to get into trouble if we don't have something to do all day.
"Alright daddy we'll behave." I said. Giving him my best puppy eyes act indicating that I won't do it agian.
"That's not going to work this time princess. We have decided to send you and your brother to a school in New York." He said raising his right eyebrow to state his decision. What? Why? No, I don't want to go.
"Wha-why?" Jakes disappointment was evident. "You don't want us here anymore?" Jake asked as he glared at him and I was able to feel his devastation as he felt mine. I can't believe they were sending us to the other side of the nation.
"No, it's not that Jake but we think it will help you." My mother butted in.
"When are we leaving?" I narrowed my eyes at them clearly irked by their decision.
"Tomorrow." My mother and father said simultaneously.
"Fine." I said turning around on my heels rushing to my room to begin packing. I can't believe it that they are sending us away just like that. I heard a knock on my door and Jake walked in.
"I can't believe our parents are sending us to the other side of the nation." He said as he closed the door and sat on my bed.
"Me neither I thought they loved us but I guess I was mistaken." I tear glide down my cheek and Jake hug soothe me.
"Don't worry we'll make it the best just you and me sis." He said as an evil smile crept on his face and I chuckled knowing that we are going to be getting in a lot more trouble. A few minutes later he left to pack and I continued with mine. The night came by quicker than I thought. I went to say goodbye to my brother Jadiel and my best friend Nicole when I heard my brother having a conversation with his best friend.
"When do they leave?" Axel asked my brother.
"Tomorrow morning." Jadiel said with a grin.
"Finally bro." Axel high-fived my brother. "We're going to have some peace." Axel said followed by a chuckle.
"I know, huh?" Jadiel agreed. "I'm glad my parents took our advice." As soon as those words left Jadiel's mouth I gasped and they turned to gaze at me. Tears were running down my cheeks. I would have never thought it was their idea to send us to the other side of the country, hell, I would have never thought my own brother would send us elsewhere. I turned away and dashed out to go find Nic when I heard them calling my name I simply ignored them.
"Taelyn hold on." Jadiel shouted. I continued my way up the stairs taking two steps at the time to find Nic. I never expected to feel the heartache that I was feeling right now. I felt someone grip my arm and wouldn't let me go. "Please listen to me." He said, I couldn't look at his eyes I felt betrayed and heart broken. I tried to loosen his grip but he wouldn't bulge.
"We didn't mean it in a bad way." Axel tried to reason. I stayed quiet gazing at the floor.
"Please talk to us." Jadiel sounded so miserable.
"Don't worry by tomorrow none of you will have to deal with us." I said wiping the tears away and getting out of his grip. I quickly ran to Nic's room once she saw me she embraced me in the hug I needed so much. We said our goodbyes promising that we were going to keep in touch. Two hours later I left back to my parents' house to get some sleep if that was even possible. The time to leave came quicker than I wanted to. Our luggage was loaded into the SUV as Adanely, Jadiel, Jake, Nic and I got in. Our parents' got in right after. The whole ride was silent no one spoke, Jake and Nic had me in an embrace. When we got to the airport I hugged Adanely and Nic before getting off the SUV so did Jake. Our parents and Jadiel were going to get off.
"No." I said as we took out or luggage from the trunk.
"Bye." Jake and I said simultaneously without glancing back we made our way into the airport to check in.
*JADIEL*
The whole ride was silent no one spoke. On the back seat Jake and Nic had Tae on an embrace and they didn't let go until we arrived at the airport. I felt a nudge on my heart as they wouldn't speak to any of us. I had always been protective of my siblings especially of Tae as she's so recalcitrant and I didn't want to lose her as the family member I had lost already. They didn't even glanced at me or at our parents they simply hugged Adanely then Nic and hopped off of the SUV. We were going to get off when Taelyn glared at us. "No." I felt dejected and my parents' eyes were laced with hurt. No one said anything as they grabbed their luggage from the trunk. "Bye." They simply said and left without glancing back.
"I don't think it was a good idea." My mother said. Now I see it wasn't a good idea they left thinking we were the worst people in the world and I don't blame them. After I saw Tae's eyes yesterday I wasn't able to sleep at all I couldn't close my eyes without her eyes laced with hurt and betrayal haunting me. I thought I was doing something good for them sending them to a place where they can be taught some discipline but her eyes were killing me. When I went downstairs to grab a cup of water Axel was there going through the same image over and over as well. Yea, definitely I was the worse brother of the year.
*TAE*
We arrived a month ago and when we began school we were not so thrilled, nonetheless we had gotten in trouble many times already. We met some new acquaintances that made it more exciting as they were sent here as well for causing trouble at their home others were sent here because their parents didn't want to take care of them. Our parents have been trying to talk to us but we kept ignoring them. I only spoke to Adanely and Nic. Jake and I decided to try for the football team at first they were reluctant to let me play as they have never had a girl play for their team before. After I showed them what I could do as a quarterback they immediately accepted me saying how their quarterback sucked. Jake tried for left guard and he didn't have much competition so he was accepted immediately as well.
We have a very first game in a few minutes. The coach called my parents telling them that we were having our first game a couple of days ago and they were not so keen. When we were preparing ourselves for the game our coach called us.
"Yes coach?" I honestly didn't know what he was calling us for.
"Someone is here to see you." He said, his eyes laced with admiration. Who could it be? When we went outside the locker room I noticed Adanely and Nic. I ran up to them and hugged them tightly.
"Oh my goddess you look so badass." Nic said and Adanely nodded in agreement.
"Is there no hug for me?" Jake was using the pouting too much and Adanely ran up to him jumping causing Jake to catch her in an awkwardly manner. Nic and I laughed then she hugged him as well.
"Your parents are here." Nic eyes stared directly at mine as if trying to see my soul.
"Doesn't matter I don't want to talk to them." I said dismissing her statement. The coach called us because the game was going to kick off soon and we needed to huddle. Adanely and Nic went back to the bleachers to watch the game. When we went out to the field everyone was cheering and shouting my eyesight caught a group of people and there I saw my parents, Axel, Adanely, Jadiel, and Nic. I looked away trying to concentrate on the game. The referees called the captains up as Dominic, Jake, and I walked up to them. The other team was going to receive and when they noticed I was a girl they burst out laughing causing me to smirk and promised myself to smoke them on the field rather than with words.
Soon enough the game kicked off and I had instructed the defense to not let them score not even a field goal so they obliged. They made me so proud that I felt as a proud momma hen. Wait. Why did I call myself a hen? Anyways, when it was my turn I began throwing pass after pass completing each and every single one of them. By half time we were up by 5 touchdowns and they had none. The second half began and we received returning it all the way to the end zone scoring a touchdown. It was down to the last minute of the last quarter my right guard missed his man and the guy tackled me after I had thrown a pass to my wide receiver. The guy was 240 lbs. while I weighted 110 so the damage was significant. Jake was by my side as soon as he noticed but I had trouble getting up because I had being suffocated. The medic was rushed in and I was taken to the examination room to be evaluated. Jake was there with me all the time and informed me that it had been a touchdown and that we had won, of course. I was released a few minutes later with the only condition that I had to rest at least two days as I was fine, I had only been suffocated. As Jake helped me back outside to the field I noticed all of our teammates and family there. I hugged Xander whom I have been dating for a couple of days now and when I turned back to my family I saw jealousy laced on Axel's eyes but he replaced it immediately. Afterwards, I said bye to all the teammates after assuring them over 100 times that I was fine.
"Taelyn, are you okay?" My father asked as soon as he saw me. I nodded.
"Baby you shouldn't be playing with them." My mother said as always being sexist.
"And why not?" I crossed my arms clearly trying to avoid the conversation. "I'm fine. It happens even to the best quarterbacks." I said rolling my eyes.
"We need to talk." My father said causing me to sigh. When we walked in the apartment Jake helped me to the couch I felt as if a bus had ran me over. Jake sat next to me as the rest sat around us.
"We are sorry we sent you here." My mother said as she lowered her gaze to the floor. "We thought it was for your own good." I gazed at them emotionless. Well good for them but now they have second thoughts.
"We want you to come back home with us." My father exclaimed. Now they want us to go back after two months.
"No." Jake and I said in unison. They all stared at us as if we had grown a second head. Axel's and Jadiel's eyes widened and were laced with regret.
"Why not?" Jadiel roared. Like if he cared it was his idea in the first place.
"We simply don't want to go back." Jake rigid posture was evident that he didn't want to talk about it. "We don't want to be a burden. Again" Jake glared at them. He was enraged when I told him everything that happened that night. Everyone was perplexed with our decision.
"Is it because of that human?" Axel growled. What is their problem they send us here then they come to tell us to go back and when we don't want to they begin roaring and growling. They have serious anger issues.
"No." I said standing on my feet to leave the room. "I'll be retreating to my room now." I said as Jake gave me a piggyback ride to my room. They were not content with our decision but they left the next day as they were not able to convince us to leave with them.
*2 Years Later*
Two years had passed since we began school in New York and we have been national champions since my freshmen year. Now that I'm 17 I have to admit I haven't changed at all. We are going to a party to celebrate an acquaintance's birthday. Jake and I were excited as we haven't been to many parties because we've been concentrated on the football games. When we got there every one surrounded us and we were having a good time socializing. I was drinking and dancing with Xander when the police crashed the party. We were not able to vamoose the party before the house was surrounded. We were arrested and taken to jail for underage drinking and like our parents were not in the same city we had to wait for them to come get us released. As soon as they got there we were sermonized about how we were sent here for a reason and that we had been in trouble too many times and blah, blah, blah. "Tae you were sent here for a reason." My father said. Apparently I am the black sheep of the family as I always get blamed for everything but hey at least I combine with everything. "Why do you guys keep getting in trouble?" My father placed his hands on his hips and my mother simply glared at us. I shrugged which caused my father to get aggravated.
"Taelyn Yanely Marquez give us a proper answer." My father raised his voice.
"Now you are going to be getting drunk at parties?" My mother said and we got chastise for drinking at the party. Our credit cards were revoked for three weeks. That caused me even a greater pain than being sent here or discovering it was my brother's idea. When we went back to school that Monday we were reprimand by having to do community service along other students and teammates, Xander included. Little did I know that would be one of the last times I'll spend time with him.
Tomorrow is the last day of our junior year and our last day at the school as we can't come back next year because we've caused a lot of trouble at school and after the party they denied our registration for our senior year. Xander tried to continue our relationship even if we were thousands of miles away from each other but I knew that it wouldn't work so we broke up. I really wish we were able to attend another school here I really don't want to go back and neither does Jake but our parents said no as it didn't help us at all being away so in two days we head back to our hometown.
