Chapter 13

1278 Words
Sarah carried me back to the house so Jake can talk to the others. She wheeled me to the table and brought some food for the both of us. It was quiet while we ate. Sarah kept glancing at me but didn't say anything, adding to the awkwardness. Jake and Derrick came in just as I was about to finish my plate. He grabs himself a plate of food and sits across from me. "Hey Mar..." He pauses and is about to say something else but can't feel to find any words and just looks back towards his plate of food. "Hey" I say while placing my hand on one of his. I know what he shared with me was probably sensitive and important for him. I still didn't know exactly what to think of it all. I gave him a small smile which he returned. After I finished my plate I was still a bit hungry so I turned to Sarah, Hey hun, would it be possible to get some more? It was super delicious." Sarah smiles, "Sure Thing Mar, I'll be right back." she grabs my plate and quickly comes back with it full. The awkward silence continues while we all finish eating. "Ready for bed?" Jake asks while he pushes my chair towards my room. To be honest I wasn't all that tired but I needed time to think. So I nodded and forced a yawn. Sarah had followed us to help me into my bed clothes. Once I was in bed she turns to leave, "Goodnight Mar, I'll see you in the morning." she says with a small smile. Jake came in after she left and sat on the edge of my bed. "So... do you want to talk?" he asks. "I do have some questions but can we talk tomorrow? I'm really tired and need some time alone to think." "Sure, goodnight Mar" he said then placed a kiss on my head and left. *Jake's POV* My warriors and I just got done with our post training run when I smelt her. "Sarah, where is Mar?" I mind linked Sarah. There was a pause before she replied. "I think she is ready for the truth.. I brought her to the field." Sh*t! I didn't want to do this publicly, but Sarah is forcing my hand. We came to the clearing and I saw the girls sitting on one of the benches. I told my warriors to wait as I approached my mate. I was so nervous and so was my wolf. She seemed hesitant but not scared as she reached out to feel my fur. when she touched my head I felt those familiar sparks and she quickly pulled back. She turned to Sarah and I took this chance to shift back and pull on some shorts just in time for her to look back. "What the f***!?" She exclaimed. Her reaction was cute and we all started to laugh slightly. She looks behind me then looks back to me. "Marlene.. there's something you should know about my family.." I paused and started to rub my neck. I'm so scared she will reject me, I dropped to my knees in front of her "we are werewolves, and you are my fated mate.." I got it out in one breath and held it. When she started to laugh I thought she didn't believe me, even after seeing it for her own eyes. From behind me I heard one of my warriors say "she must have lost it" I let out a warning growl before dismissing my warriors. I turn back to Marlene as she says, "Well I guess this could be worse... What do you mean by fated mate?" She asks. I couldn't help but smile at her first question. I gently take her hands "Do you feel this?" I ask. "By this you mean the sparks? Then yes." When she said she feels the sparks my heart skipped a beat. I am so excited she could feel them to. "Those sparks are one of the ways fated mates recognize each other. You and I are meant to be together. Think of it more like soulmates but with more devine intervention." I explain to her the best I can. Her next question through me off. "If y'all are werewolves than what creatures are behind the attacks and are after me? Cause I don't think y'all would get wrapped up in human affairs." I sighed wishing we could save this topic for another night but knew Marlene wouldn't let this part slide. "Vampires" After that word left my lips Sarah and I just waited and watched her. All she did was nod her head. She is taking this better than I thought she would. Suddenly her stomach grumbles and I thought food would be a great distraction. I smiled at Mar, "Let's get you something to eat my little mate." The last part slipped out and she just stared at me. Fu*k! I hope I didn't mess this up already, I thought. I was about to apologize when she cut me off. "Food sounds Amazing, I am starving." I smiled, thankful I didn't scare her off with my pet name for her. I asked Sarah to take her back while I delt with Blake. The asshole with a smart mouth. After giving Blake and earful about showing my mate (his future Luna) some respect Derrick and I headed back towards the house. "Jake, wait" Derrick said. I stopped to look at him. "She may want some time to think, so give her some space." He clapped me on the back and started towards the house again. "I know man. I am just worried she is going to reject me." I said with a sigh. "She won't, she is smart and strong. Plus I think she is in love with you already." He said the last part with a smirk. "How do you know?" He didn't answer me and I wanted to hit him but as we walked into the house I saw Marlene. I grabbed a plate of food and sat across from her. I wanted to talk to her but I also know Derrick is right and I should give her some space. "Hey Mar..." that's all I can manage to say, before looking back at my plate of food. "Hey" she says while placing her hand on mine. This makes me smile and we continue to eat. Mar asked Sarah for a second plate, and to be honest I was shocked when she finished all the food. Once we are all done eating I ask Mar if she is ready for bed as I help her to her room. I wait outside while Sarah helps Mar get ready for bed. As Sarah leaves her room she turns to me, "Give her some time, she may seem okay now, but it's a lot to learn in one day." She then turns away. I go in and see Marlene sitting up in her bed. I sit at the foot of her bed. "So... Do you want to talk?" I ask her. She looks a little nervous when she says, "I do have some questions but can we talk tomorrow? I'm really tired and need some time alone to think." "Sure, Goodnight Mar." I said before kissing her head and leaving. I didn't want to go back to my room, so I decided to go for another run. "Please Moon Goddess, help Mar understand. I love her to much to lose her again." I sent up a prayer because I didn't know what else to do.
