Emyrie was just walking down her stairs when there was a knock at her front door. She could always tell when it was Isaac knocking, he would do several quick knocks with two slow ones at the end. It was a signal they had invented when they were about 8 years old so they would always know it was the other one without having to open the door to strangers.
Isaac rushed past Emyrie holding a pizza box and a bottle of wine. Her favourite wine.
"What do you need me to do?" Emery still had her back to her brother but could picture his forced innocence expression.
"Why do you think I need you to do something? Can't I just visit my big sister for some advice and a listening ear?"
"Not when you bring me that particular wine and call me big sister in the same visit. What's going on Iz?)
Isaac got up and started to pace the room. The nervous energy radiating off him started to make Emyrie anxious.
"It's about Max. He's......well he's.....sick"
"So get him to go see a doctor." Max was the lead singer of the band Isaac was in. Emyrie hadn't ever met Max, she had seen him a couple of times at shows but he always kept to himself and seemed quiet and shy for a celebrity in her opinion.
"He's not that kind of sick....well he is....but its complicated." Isaac sat on the couch across from where Emyrie was standing. "Emyrie, he almost died last night"
"What? What happened? Is he in the hospital?" Emyrie sat down next to her brother, she could tell he was really shaken by the situation
"We all decided to go get drinks after the show last night and ended up at Crave in the VIP room" Emyrie did her best not to roll her eyes, but she hated that club. Crave had opened about a year ago and had quickly become the hottest place for celebrities and their groupies to hang out. Emyrie had never been but the stories and rumours of drugs and hookups in back rooms only added to her lack of desire to check the place out for herself.
"Anyways, we were all having fun, having some drinks, talking to pretty girls and then Max suddenly decides he's going home. We assumed he had got lucky with one of the girls, but it wasn't until I got this text that I realized that he had gone home alone." Isaac handed Emyrie his phone with the message he had received open on the screen.
It was a suicide note.
