The Angry Alpha's Mate

Chapter 7

*Savannah*

The garden looked amazing. The soft music that played as we walked out made it very inviting along with the strands of lights that produced a soft sort of romantic feel. I noticed that there were firepits and torches placed around to provide warmth and light but none were light. Did Alex set this up to show my powers off to the group or was it just in case it got cold I wondered. The live band starts playing a song that makes me want to dance and I watch as several couples that had just found their mates strolled to the floor and start dancing. Alex walks away and I go sit with my dad to see how everything at home was. " Hey Dad, how is mom and them doing." He looks up and with a smile replies," Lexy said she misses your muffins already. Luke says he wishes he was old enough to come find a mate outside of his pride. And your mum says she is excited that you found your mate even though he is a wolf instead." I smile and give him a hug. Dad was always hoping I would find my mate while also secretly hoping it was Alex.

The band stops playing and say, " We have a special request from Alpha Alexander. Our very first song that we wrote and played for him at his birthday party when he turned sixteen. Heres to Alpha Alex and Luna Savannah." The bass guitar begins a riff with the bass drum backing it up. Alex grabs my hand and the lights go out. I hear murmers from the crowd and then I light all the firepits and torches to see a torch lit path suddenly appear lighting up a maze lit only by the torches. The song was perfect as Alex leads me out onto the dance floor. It was a rock like song that portrayed anger and expectation but also love and success. Alex spun me around lifting me up on occasion and dipping me on others. By the time the song was over I was out of breath and very thirsty. A server walked over to us with a silver platter and we each took a glass of something pink. The server bows and walks away leaving us to taste whatever Gabby had came up with for the party. It was sweet like strawberries but with an undertone of citrus. Alex then leads me to the maze and we follow the path turning here and there eventually coming upon a Large Fountain featuring two wolves both howling atop a cliff.

We sit down on the benches still holding hands and Alex leans towards me and kisses me right on the lips. Sadly it did not last as at the same moment we here the guards yell," INTRUDERS! Get inside." A huge eagle winged wolf like creature dives down at us from the evening sky barely illuminated by the torches as we dive out of the way. I roll and come to my feet shooting fire out of my hands hitting one of the wings of the creature which sends it tumbling through the air and smashing into a statue of a wolf. Alex then grabs my hand and we run back through the maze to the dance floor all the while dodging more flying wolves. As we get to the dance floor I see a huge fireball come towards. Me and Alex dive to the floor as the fireball flies over us and engulfs another flying wolf. We get up and I see two dragons, one a beautiful gold and the other a deep almost ebony color whose scales glistened from the fire. At the feet of the gold dragon I see a wolf who is the color of smoke eyeing the sky very carefully. A moment later the sound of a roar comes from the roof and I barely see a black panther jumping through the sky and landing on the back of one of the flying wolves. I scan the sky seeing about twenty or more winged wolves circling and countless others diving.

*Alex*

We had sat down in front of the Fountain of my Mom and Dad howling atop of the cliff that resides to the north of the manor. I lean in and start to kiss Savannah when one of my guards yells, "INTRUDERS! Get inside." I look up just in time to see a huge wolf with eagle like wings diving down toward us with his front paws extending out as talons and with barely a second to spare we both dive out of its reach. I roll to a crouch to see Savannah already on her feet fire shooting from her hands. She hits the creature and it smashes into a statue of my dad sitting at attention. I grab Savannah's hand while its dazed and lead her back through the maze towards the manor dodging flying wolves all the way. We are beginning to exit the maze when we notice a huge fireball shooting towards us. We dive to the ground and hear it hit another flying wolf. I look up to see both Saphira and Alderbern had transformed into their dragons and between Saphira's claws was Thomas's wolf Rook. There is a deafening roar and I look up to see what I can only guess to be Sabre landing on the back of one of the larger sized flying wolves. After a few seconds I had come to the conclusion that there were at least fifty flying wolves. I had a plan but we had to work together.

"Alderbern," I shout, " Call for reinforcements." The ebony dragon nods and about a minute later five people appear in front of me and four of them transform one at a time and take to the sky. After couple minutes another four dragons join the sky. The battle above us was wild. Savannah asks Saphira and Adlerbern if one of them will fly her up but they both disagree saying that its best to stay on the ground since they don't know how much dragon riding time she had. However Saphira said since she is staying she will train her to ride dragons. She had already talked to Thomas about training him and thinks that it would be an advantage to have the pack trained for such occasions as this.

Three large wolves land in front of us and one charges at Savannah as it goes to make contact its blasted back and just as it hits the ground its engulfed in a fireball that had followed it. The other two wolves charge me and I am about to counter them when a blue white light flashes in front of me and they crumple surrounded by char marks. I look to Savannah and she is a little surprised by what she had just did but sparks of blue and white are still coming from her hands. She had just threw lightening at the wolves electrocuting them. She looks to the sky and threw more lighting that danced around the dragons electrocuting the wolves and half of them plummet to the ground the other half dives but are turned to ash by the eight dragons flames all converging on them.

That seemed to be all of the wolves when I hear a growling whine from behind me as the wolf that had attacked us at the fountain limps towards us. He has a broken wing and one of his claws had been mangled from hitting the statue. I rush him with my hair now down to the middle of my back and my beard now past my shoulders flowing behind me. I lift him by the throat ordering him to change back. He changes back and I see scars from what looked like claws all over his torso. His eyes were wide as I spoke," Why have you attacked us." His voice a wimper as he responds," We were ordered to attack this party." Anger bubbling inside me I growl at him," Who ordered you to attack us?" "I-I-I don't know. I'm just a hired experiment to see how wolves and birds work together. Sadly I can't heal like werewolves but I can see long distances like eagles." Gripping his neck tighter I growl," Who created you?". Choking he replies in between gasps," The Government, the government created us to be their army of warriors they just haven't figured out how to get us to heal like you were creatures. They have success in aspects of strength and speed though." I drop him and he falls to his knees gasping and holding his throat with his good hand still covered in what looked like the skin of an eagles claw. His skin on his back was still partly feathered and I noticed his wings didn't fully disappear. I wondered if he could be more useful to us than just information but I will find out after he heals a bit.

"Thomas, take this man to our dungeon and give him something to eat. Also send Kimberly in to treat his wounds but make sure there is a guard nearby just in case." I looked at this man still crouched in front of me," I will be by in the morning to talk to you more. I would like to learn more about these experiments and if you refrain from attacking us I will do the same and refrain from torturing you. Deal?" I hold out my hand and he extends his and grasping my hand he stands up. His weird skinned hand shakes mine and he says," Deal." Thomas grabs his arm and leads him to the dungeon with Gabby and Kimberly behind him. I turn to my guests and ask for their assistance to clean up the mess caused by the fight. Alderbern asks why I didn't go ahead and kill the creature and I explain that he may know about the attacks and who or what was behind them but also he might be someone who can assist us with our future battles against the Government that had hired them to attack us in the first place. I also think that he can tell us more about these experiments that are combining different creatures together. We finish cleaning and head to each of our rooms planning to meet for breakfast and talk more to this eagle wolf who was now in the dungeon.
