"Athena, when are you going to get married? You are turning 25 next month!". Her mother stated again for how many times this year. Athena face palm and sighs in disbelief. She just graduated college a year ago. And she was clearly prohibited by her never to enter relationship while studying because it will be a distraction according to her. And now she is asking when she will be getting marry. ''Mom, you're unbelievable. You told me not to enter a relationship and now you're asking me when?.'' Athena shake her head in disbelief. They are having their breakfast and almost every morning, she is reminded by her to have one. ''Its not easy to find a good husband now a days mom'' Athena added. Her mom give her a sad look. ''Okay Mom, I'll try'' she said with defeated look. She doesn't want to make her mom sad. Her mom lifted a sweet smile after she said it. And then put more pancakes on her plates. Athena smile at her mom. At her back of her mind. She's very lucky to have her. '"I love you Athena and I want you to be happy. And I'm getting older too, I want a grandchild running around the house and calling me Momma". Athena is a little bit shocked with her mom's last statement. And she saw how happy her mom thinking of a grandchild. It's the first time she brought it to her. 'A grandchild? I think I cant give her a child. I've been single my entire life', she stated in her mind. Athena doesn't want to kill her mom's fantasy of her having a child. She put a fake smile then stand up and wipe her mouth. ''Mom, I'll be late for my first day at work'' she stated to cut off the tension. "I just want you to be happy Athena before I die" Athena went into silence. "Mom, I am happy. I'm with you''. "It's kind of different happiness Athena". Before her mom's statement get any longer. She grab her bag and kiss her cheeks. "I love you Mom. And don't worry, I might marry someone next year" she jokingly said and wink at her mom. Her mom gives her a fake smile. ''Anyways mom, I really have to go. I don't want to be late for my first day of work. Wish me luck". After a year, she finally started working. And today is her first day. Athena is an engineer. She passed the licensure exam on top. She was offered by different big companies all over the country. But she wanted to rest first before working. And after a year, she already choose her company. "Good morning, Ma'am" The guard greeted her. She smiles at him and then proceeded to the lobby. She is mesmerized when she entered the the hall. It is very huge, and clean and all. It's her dream workplace 'ACE Company'. It's her dream company. Athena wasnt expecting that she was given an opportunity to work on one of the famous construction company. Only the best of the best work here. Athena then proceeded to the reception area. "Excuse me" she stated with a big smile to the receptioninst. "Hello" the lady retorded with a fake smile. Athena ackwardly scratch her hands. She is check by the attending lady from head to toe "How may I help you" the lady asked. "I'm looking for Mr. Albert" Athena answered. "Do you have an appointment with him? He's a very busy person and he can't attend to everyone" the lady stated with meaningful look. Athena is nice enough not to cause a scene in the lobby but in the back of her mind, she's murdering her. She's getting into her nerves. "I don't have an appointment but can you check my name, Athena Morales". She said respectfully. "I'm pretty sure you're not in the system, maam" "Can you check?" Athena raised her eye brows. If only she can, she will but she's professional. She needs to be calm. She's a little bit irritated now, and in a snap she can cause a scene. Her first day is ruined..Damn that lady, she cursed in her mind. Athena was patiently waited. "Is there any problem here" someone asked. Athena turned her head and saw a very bossy guy. "Good morning sir!" The attending lady nervously greeted. "Is there any problem here?" He repeatedly asked. The lady just shake her head as an answer. "Yes, there is" Athena answered. "And you are?" "I'm Athena Morales sir. It's my first day today. And I'm looking for Mr. Albert" she stated. "Ow. Right. Ms. Morales I'm expecting you today. Come to my office and let's discuss about your work". Athena fixed herself and turned to the lady and mockingly smiled at her. She then raise her brows. "Thank you sir" she stated and followed him. Athena is still in disbelief that she will work here. Everything is like a dream. "We're here miss Morales. Come inside" They stop in a very big office. And there are infastracture models that are displayed inside. Athena can't help but to smile. 'They are beautiful' she mutter in herself. "You will make one of that Ms. Morales" Mr.Albery retorted. "Sorry sir, it's just so beautiful and I can't help but to keep on looking on it" she explained. Mr. Albert laugh at her. "Come here Ms. Morales" Athena followed but she doesn't know if she will sit or not. It's very unethical to sit when you're not invited to. She then hears a tiny laugh again. Athena is quite embarrassed. And smiled ackwardly. "You can sit down Miss". Athena sat down and can't help but to turned her head again to the models and roam around her eyes to the entire office. She's excited. Super excited. In her mind, she will have her own office too. "Ms. Morales, Ms. Morales" Mr Albert called her. Her attention is on the models again. "Yes." " I mean yes sir" Mr. Albert cleared his throat and begin speaking. "This is the hand out for all the upcoming projects this 2024. I wanted you to check them and give me some insight." Mr. Albert stated. Athena nodded and respondes. "Okay sir.". "Ow by the way, I am Kevin Albert, the manager". Mr Albert finally introduce himself. Then, they shake their hands as formality. "Before I forgot, you will closely work with the owner. He's building a house for her girl" he added. Mr. Albert give her a meaningful smile and she smiled back. "You may leave now" "Hmmm. Mr Albert" Athena stated. She wanted to know if she has a place to stay or an office. "Can I àsk if I have a place or office so I can start checking this" Athena awkwardly asked. "Ow, I'm sorry. I'll call my assistant to bring you in your office". After a second the assistant come and assist her to her office. "Wow" she exclaimed. "Is this my office?" She asked the assistant. The assistant smiled and nod her head. "Wow, I have my own office" Athena can't believe it. This is so super. She can't help but to smile from ear to ear. "Miss Morales, are you okay with your office Ma'am" Ms. Assistant asked her again. Athena nodded. Everything is in her taste. She loves it. "I was told too that you will meet some of the engineers in 10 minutes. They are all in the conference room." The assistant added. Athena is quite nervous. She is not ready. 'Oh my God. 'Why am I conscious about myself?' she asked herself. 'I don't know them' Athena giggles to herself. "Are you okay Miss?" Athena give her a smile. Athena follow her to the conference room. She still can't help to turned her head in every offices they pass. But there is one office that caught her attention. The door is wide open.The design is very different inside. And there is a guy who is very focused on his work. 'Who is that guy?' she asked herself. He's very handsome checking his papers. "Excuse me, who is that guy?" She can't help but to ask the assistant. The assistant answered. "He is Mr. Caleb Wright".and then she giggled. I gave her a playful smile. "Do you like him?" She asked directly. "He has already a fiance" Athena is quite disappointed. She turned back her head again to the man. And then they meet their eyes. He's very handsome. Athena can tell how hot and good looking he is even in a distance. "My God, did he smiles on me?" She blushes and then looked away. He's very handsome and Athena know something in her heart. She knows that she wants him.
