- Ethan’s P.O.V - Reika had just left Crescent Moon so I went back to the packhouse to check on the pack if everyone survived the full moon. After an hour I felt a scratch on my arm. It had to be Reika but it wasn’t a blade cut. “You didn’t use the blade,” I said before I saw two young boys with her. “Kratos, everything is burnt the palace is down the people hate us, please Ethan, please take my brothers and keep them safe,” she begs me. “What about you?” I ask her looking at the smoke coming from her kingdom. “I have to go get my mother, she’s stuck in the hideout,” she tells me but it’s way too dangerous for her to go back. “I’ll have one of my betas take your brothers, I’m coming with you,” I couldn’t let her go alone. “Absolutely not, you’re an Alpha and a King, your pack needs you so if anything happens to you, they’ll have to deal with that loss,” She tells me. She’s my powerful Luna. “Promise you won't get scared. Ethan will take care of you until mom and I come to get you okay?” She talks to her brothers. “What about Josie?” Josie? She’s still missing? “I’ll get her too?” She tells her brother with a forced smile but I knew how she felt and that smile was fake. “Thank you,” She stands up and I nod before she left. “I’ll take you to my home, you’ll be safe there,” I tell the boys. “We do not know you,” one of them says. They’re very young, of course, they wouldn’t just go wherever I tell them, I’m a stranger to them and they don’t know where their family is. “I’m Ethan. I’m your sister’s… friend,” I explain. “You’re not a prince?” One asks. “No, I’m a King,” I tell him. “What are your names?” I ask kneeling so my face was leveled with theirs. “I’m Alexander and this is Theodore,” he tells me. “You’re twins aren’t you?” I ask and they both nod. “Listen, your mom and sister are going to be back soon,” I start. “And Josie?” Alexander asks. “And Josie,” I said. “But for now, Reika told me to keep you safe,” I continue. “We want to go back home,” Theo spoke this time. I thought of a way to convince them to come with me and I got an idea. “Do you which kingdom I rule?” I ask and they shook their heads. “Selene or Crescent Moon whichever one you want,” I say and they widened their eyes. “Want to go see it?” I ask and they nodded. I stand up again and start walking and the twins followed me. When we got to Crescent Moon, the boys seemed to feel more at ease. At first, they were a bit nervous to be away from their family but now that they saw the unknown kingdom they were more curious than scared. “This is Crescent Moon?” Alex asked and I nodded. “Why are the houses so old?” He asked. “To hide our location. Like this, if someone happened to come here they would think it’s a lost city, a ruin from the war, but actually, it’s filled with families,” I explain. I don’t know how much they would understand but I tried to keep their mind off of the war happening back in the home. “Is your house like this too?” Theo asked. “No, I live in a palace like you two but we call it a packhouse,” I explained. “Let’s go. I’ll take you to one of these houses and they’ll take care of you,” I tell them and they nodded and started following me. I would’ve taken them to the packhouse and to be honest, that would’ve been the best choice to keep them safe but the house was located behind the waterfall and I got a witch to spell it so no human could pass it. If I took the boys there they wouldn’t be able to make it to the other side. I knocked on one of the doors and the omega directly opened the door. “Alpha,” he lowered his head not expecting me to knock at his door. “I would appreciate it if you could look after these two boys. They’re Luna’s brothers and they need to take refugee for a while,” I ask and of course, he nodded. “Yes my Alpha,” he said. “Come in boys,” he made way for them to enter but they looked at me. They always acted together as if they were one. “You can trust him,” I reassured them, and only then did they enter the house. I went back to the packhouse and waited for Reika but time passed and still nothing. “Luis, any news about Reika?” I ask but he shook his head. “Maybe she’s… SH*T,” I felt extreme pain all over my body and my arms started to bleed. “Alpha?” Luis’s eyes widened. “Reika!” I say and then run out of the packhouse. As soon as I got out, I saw my pack of wolves coming out of their houses. “What happened?” I ask still feeling pain. “There was an explosion,” one of the omegas inform me and I follow all their heads and fought them looking towards Kratos. The trees were moving in all different directions, there was a pressure through the woods that could injure anyone and the flames coming from Kratos reached the sky. “Luis, order two or three betas to follow me through the woods. Reika is injured,” I tell him and shift into my werewolf form to heighten my senses I ran through the woods and could feel the heat coming from the fire and the wind that caused by the explosion. I tried to cover as much ground as I could to find my mate but it took me longer than usual to locate her since she was unconscious. “Where are you,” I thought to myself. Soon, I saw I figure lying on the ground with a lot of blood covering the body. I approached the corpse more hoping it was Reika. I used my paw to flip the body to see the face and it was her. I felt relief but her entire body was injured and covered in scars. She should heal but her wolf was too weak to trigger the process. I placed her on my back and carried her back to the packhouse. When I got there, everyone looked at Reika with pity in their eyes. She isn’t de*d, if she was I would’ve felt it, then again, we weren’t officially mates so I don’t know how much I could feel her presence. Luis and some of my betas carried her and took her to a room where she could recover and I called our healer to come to the room after I was back in human form. “She’s alive and she doesn’t have any major injuries. Her heart is beating fine and her brain is fine as well but she has a minor concussion so she should wake up over the next few days. Her injuries should heal soon but other than that, she got lucky,” the doctor explained. “Okay, thank you,” I say. “Alpha, if I may be excused,” he asked and I nodded. I sat down next to her and stared at her scratched face. She was alone. She couldn’t get to her mother. Her brothers were safe but her sister was still missing and her mother was definitely de*d. I tucked her hair behind her ear and caressed her cheek gently. I kissed her forehead then got up and went to my room. ****** The next day, I woke up early in the morning and went to the room we put Reika in. Unfortunately, she was still unconscious but at least her skin wasn’t as injured as last night and her color was back. “How is she?” I asked the beta I assigned to stay with her. “Her wolf has started the healing process but she’s still out. Hopefully, she’ll wake up soon,” he tells me and I nod. I kiss her temple before I left again to go to Kratos with my other betas and check on the situation. It didn’t take us long to get there but when we did, most of us gasped at the image in front of us. The once huge palace was completely destroyed and the smoke was from the fire was still there. The city was very silent as if no one ever lived there, everything was gray and dead. “Check the houses,” I order and we all disperse. I climb on the rocks and start removing them one by one as much as I could to check if anyone was alive but I couldn’t find any beating heart. It was skulls and body parts scattered all over the place. Everything was destroyed. First, the King dies now the entire kingdom is in ashes. “Alpha, the houses are all empty,” the beta says. “Not even one person?” I ask and he shakes his head. What a loss. The people Reika fought for, now gone. All these years the ancestors spent on building the biggest kingdom. “Do you know anything about Princess Josette?” I ask remembering the one soul that could bring back a smile to her face. “No, but we can send a team to search for her if you could describe her for us,” he said but I shook my head. There was only one place I could go to to find her. So here I was back in the woods. ****** “My alpha,” the old lady says as I entered her tent. “What can I do for you?” She asked as I sat down in front of her. “Josette,” I say and the smile on her face fades. “The psychic?” She asked. “Find her,” I said but she didn’t reply. “Your mate’s sister is the reason our biggest kingdom is gone. Why should I find her?” She said and I got confused. “What does that mean?” I furrowed my eyebrows. “Princess Josette can mind control people into doing anything. She controlled the people of Kratos into destroying it,” she explained. “She was forced to do it?” I tell her but she doesn’t seem to believe me. “By who?” She looked at me like she was waiting for a proper reason. “Malik,” I approached her as if I were challenging her back. Her face changed almost directly after I mentioned the psychopath’s name. “An Artemis soldier,” she says. “Michael’s son,” she continued and I saw her throat bob. “Where is he now?” The witch asked. “De*d,” I told her. “Josette did you a favor, so you owe her this,” I explain. “The de*th of an Artemis hunter is not in our favor, especially not Michael’s son,” she said. “I don’t care, but you’re going to find Josette and you’re going to do that right now,” I threaten. She stared at me for a couple of seconds without making a sound but I didn’t move. Finally, I get her to cast her spell and she did her thing. “She’s in a cave. It’s cloaked by a spell, but I should be able to break that spell,” she said. After a couple of minutes, she looked at me once again and nodded. “She’s free,” she said and I stand up to go to her location. “Alpha,” she stops me. “Queen Helena?” She asked. “Also de*d,” I tell her and she smiled. “She’ll finally meet with Aloha Kai then,” she said which confused me. “Alpha Kai?” I ask. “The one and only,” she replied. “Although she sinned, she fought well to protect the wolves,” she continued. “What are you saying, old lady?” I asked. “You don’t know the legend?” She looked at me with a tilted head. “Have you ever heard of a human and wolf mate?” “It’s called The Sin,” ~ To be Continued ~
