Chapter 1
Cherilyn Knight's Point Of View.
In my everyday life, where things were usually normal, I never thought that a big change was just around the corner. Everything seemed calm and ordinary, but little did I know that a surprise was waiting to turn my world upside down.
I had literally no clue about the secret plans that were going to shake up everything and all of a sudden, I found myself in a totally new world, all alone and scared. That was the moment when everything in my life changed.
I have heard that life has a way of surprising us, and sometimes, it is in those quiet moments when everything turns upside down and the following narrative felt absolutely true right then.
So, here I am, at the beginning of my story, realizing that even in the ordinary, unexpected things can happen and will take us on a journey we never imagined in our wildest dreams.
"Please Stop!" I said as my staggering hoarse voice pleaded to the two unknown men, who were dragging me inhumanely towards the dark and endless hallway and as I was dragged, I could not help the creepiness which was coursing through my whole body from one end to another end. The smell of wet dirt was all I could sense, since my eyes were blindfolded tightly by a cloth torn from the hems of my dirty rag dress only.
"Shut the f**k up, b***h. Will you? I dare you to open your damn jammed mouth and voice out a word again." One of the men said as he threatened who had abducted me.
"Woah mate, calm down. This b***h is already in big hell." another man said while chuckling and speeding his steps on the way. On the other hand, I felt like my heart would come out of my body in panic.
"P-please, I beg of you to let me go. I am a poor girl who usually ends up sleeping with a hungry stomach every other night. You will not be able to find anything which can benefit you. In fact, honestly, I am an orphan. That means I do not have parents. Hence, again, you won't be able to call for a filthy ransom in exchange for me," I said in a single breath.
One could feel that panic was laced in my voice as his threatening voice frightened me, but again, in my point of view, as long as they could hear me pleading, then there might be a slight chance of them to pity and release me but then again, who was I kidding?
Since my a*******n, they have treated me so far that it was enough to break my little hope that these men could have even the slightest tinge of kindness in their hearts to release and let me go.
"You never give up, don't you, princess?" One of the men said again, while mocking me with a chuckle. I felt him looking directly into my eyes, and it led me to, burning in my wrath.
I did my best to force out my arms from their grasps while screaming my lungs out, "You all are monsters! Oh God, how the damn could you be so inhumane? Maltreating and forcing a helpless girl, hah? You think that makes you more of a man, you are f*****g pigs!".
They did not answer me back in response and started dragging me hurriedly, which compelled me to get more nervous as I felt captivating silence surrounding me, my ears, and my whole system.
Numb and silence. That was it and I had no clue at all of where I was.
"Wh-where t-the h -hell a-am I?" I decided to ask as I stammered in the process, with a feeling of great nervousness and upset, while my senses were alerted to my surroundings, and I started gasping violently in their grasps in at response.
All of a sudden, one of the gruesome men shoved me to the ground harshly, and I landed with my knees crashing on the floor. I could feel that the skin on my knees split open as I cried from the sharp pain coursing through my leg.
"Anna Here is the new slave as demanded. Clean this filthy girl and put her to some use immediately after the cleaning and I hope you will be able to make her understand the rules of the house, crystal clear." The same man who had shoved me to the ground ordered strictly to the girl named Anna, I suppose.
"I will, Sir. You don't need to worry at all." She whispered back with the strange respect in her voice. How dumb could she be? I wondered if she could not see what was happening around her.
"...and ya listen, HE will see her first. Understood?" The other man said at the end, and his sentence left me confused and a query in my mind.
"Yes, understood sir. Everything will be done as you say." I heard a soft voice, voicing out from Anna again, and all of a sudden after a long time, more like the first time, I felt gentle hands on me while I felt both of them leaving the room as the door shut. It helped me to stand up, in contrast to the harsh treatment I had from the men who had abducted me.
"Come on, hurriedly. Be quick and trust me, you would not like the consequences of pissing them. They are cruel and possess every brutal and scary thing. They feel pleasure while punishing new slaves barbarously." Anna whispered in my ear with a tinge of worry in her voice, to my surprise, and it was more than enough for me to get alert.
A new label hung heavily upon me: a slave, but to whom?
The words echoed with a brutal chill, sending shivers down my spine. It made the brutish feeling of creepiness crawl through the skin of my whole body, leaving me paralyzed with an unsettling fear. It was as though I had been plunged into an abyss, a place where an oppressive atmosphere suffocated any hope that might have lingered. I found myself in an unknown place in the world where punishments loomed ominously, a more frequent visitor than getting fed.
The realization hit me like a heavy blow, and I could not contain the silent sobs that wracked my frame. I could not help but cry and, resultantly, it brought the cloth, which was held tight while blindfolding my eyes, soaking in the tears which were going to flow across both of my cheeks. It was getting heavier with each minute from the number of tears I shed. It felt like the fabric absorbed the evidence of my despair as each drop seemed to carry the weight of an uncertain future, while making the darkness behind the blindfold even more suffocating.
In the deafening silence, broken only by the muffled sound of my stifled cries, and with each passing minute, the blindfold became a metaphor for the increasing burden of my anguish, and I could not escape the feeling that my already poverty-stricken life was hurtling towards a tragic and irreversible end.
On one hand, the cuts and bruised hands on my knees were taking a toll on me with a sheer amount of pain, but also, on the other hand, Anna's gentle grip on my shoulders was comforting to the core of my heart.
Somehow, being around her for the first time only made me feel like I could trust her. Honestly, it is hard to explain, but there was something about the way she looked at me and the way she treated me that felt different.
In a world where people were often mean and uncaring, Anna felt like a ray of sunshine in the rain. Thinking about her kindness brought tears to my eyes, not because I was sad, but because I felt grateful. Anna gave me hope that maybe there was still goodness out there, even in the hardest times. So, as we walked together, I held onto that hope, letting it guide me through whatever came next. She was kind to me, unlike anyone else I had met and encountered in my tough life.
The world we live in is terrible, and it feels like there is no one to complain to. We are running out of options. There is a blurred line between right and wrong, and it seems that the line is impossible to be seen for differentiation, concluding that right and wrong are all mixed up now, and it is hard to tell what's what. People's values have changed, and everyone's just trying to survive. It is really tough to find someone who is truly good hearted these days. Meeting genuinely kind people takes a lot of time and effort, because many either hide their goodness or get changed by the harsh world we live in.
Our planet, Earth, feels more like a nightmare than a home, but then again, even in this darkness, we keep searching to quench our thirst for a little bit of light, hoping to find some goodness amidst all the chaos. Who does not crave the good things?
We walked a long time until Anna stopped at a door. She opened it slowly, and we went inside.
Anna untied my blindfold carefully, and I blinked a few times to get used to the light. The room was bright with fluorescent lights, making it hard for my eyes to adjust. It smelled like a hospital, all clean and sharp. It felt strange and uncomfortable. The room was big, all white and sterile. It felt cold and empty, like nobody had ever been there before.
In one corner, there was a girl with brown hair. She looked at me like she was trying to figure me out. It was a bit scary, like she could see right through me.
As we stood there, I could not shake the feeling that something big was about to happen and the moment she met my gaze, a sense of anticipation filled the air, like the calm before a storm. The room felt charged with energy, like it was waiting for something to happen.
After a few moments of stabbing silence, Anna finally spoke with an asserted tone, "First, we need to clean you, and we need to be quick too,"
"About whom were they talking?" I asked as I peered into Anna's eyes for answers to my endless questions, which seemed to go unanswered, at least for now.
"The Don. He is waiting for you," Anna informed me.
The Don. The answer left me more puzzled and sprouted endless queries in my numb mind.
"What do they want from me?" Tears welled in my eyes again. I was not a crybaby, I swear, but everything happening at that moment terrified me.
Without a word, Anna swiftly moved towards me, attempting to remove my clothes without my consent. My eyes widened, and I quickly gripped the hem of my dress, stopping Anna from seeing me naked.
I heard a heavy sigh escape Anna as she took a step back from me. "Look, I am sorry, but we need to do this quickly. The Don does not like to wait, and I am a hundred and one percent sure that you would not like to be punished, especially by him, would you?" she asked firmly.
I hesitated as the weight of the situation was sinking into my mind horribly. "No," I whispered, my voice barely above a breath.
"Then let's get this over with," Anna said, while determination could be seen lacing her tone.
