"In other news, an old abandoned factory burned down just last week for unknown reasons. The casualty count is around ten to fifteen people. Police are investigating the area and-..." "Haaaa~~" I stretched my arms and legs far and wide as I sat down on our sofa. While the television was on, I had been busy looking at my phone as Mika and I had been exchanging messages. "Do...you...want...to...do anything...together today?" I said out loud as I typed. It had been a week since the incident at the burned building. Things had gone so crazy... but I'm glad they're all over now. But most importantly, Mika finally remembers me. My phone beeped as a new message popped onto the screen. Sender: Mika Subject: yuu-chan! Sure, why not? Where do you wanna go? (^^) My chest fluttered at his sweet message. I could imagine Mika smiling at me brightly as he said those words. I can't wait to see him. "Oi," I felt a pain at my ear as someone had suddenly yanked it hard. I yelped, complaining at how much it hurt and turning my head to see Guren looking at me as if I was being weird. "What's gotten into you? Smiling like you are nuts." He raised a brow. I grit my teeth as I slapped his hand off my ear, "None of your business!" He blew a small whistle and crossed his arms, "Well, your grades in school is definitely something in my business." "Huh?" I raised a brow, "Who cares?" "Who cares..." He gritted his teeth, sounding annoyed, "Definitely you if you don't want me to ground you for the rest of your life!" I jerked, "So what?" "So" He pointed his index finger at my forehead, "That means you won't see Mika." My jaw dropped, eyes brightening up as the sun. I shook my head violently, crossing my arms, "Che. You don't scare me, Guren." Guren was being silly. There's no way he could stop Mika and me from seeing each other. No in the hell way he could. His words don't scare nor provoke me. Nope. "Suit yourself. If you actually fail, that just proves how much of an i***t you are." Guren teased. "What did you say?!" I scowled, standing up from my seat. I grit my teeth tightly, pointing my finger at him, "School. Shmool! Wait until I get my grades today... you'll definitely regret those words!" Guren whistled, grinning mischievously, "Will I?" I grabbed the remote, pressing the power button with as much strength as I had, throwing it back down on our sofa. "Che!" Making my way to school, I swiped my bag and stormed out of the house full of burning rage. Guren will really regret calling me an i***t, I swear. As I walked, Mika had called me. I had told him what had happened between me and Guren, and Mika had just laughed at it, saying how silly our bickering was. After that, we had begun talking about my life in school. "Yuu-chan, are you in the senior class?" He asked innocently. "Mm... yeah, kinda. Why?" "That means you're graduating this year, right?" His voice had started to slow down as he spoke. "Uhh... what about it?" "Yuu-chan..." Mika's voice lowered. "Eh?" My voice somewhat high pitched. "Doesn't that mean your grades should be good?... if you fail any subjects, then you won't graduate. You'll have to repeat a year." My eyes narrowed along with my lips. Suddenly, Guren's voice had echoed in my head, screaming i***t, i***t, i***t, i***t, i***t, i***t, i***t, i***t, i***t, i***t, i***t~ I swallowed, laughing awkwardly, "Weeeell, I'm sure my grades are fine. I managed to come this far without repeating. Everything will be peachy." Mika's breath could be heard from the other line. He's probably worried. "Alright. If you say so." When I finally arrived in school, Mika and I said our goodbyes. It had been a while since I came to school. After everything that's happened, I hadn't had much time to spend here. It all feels a bit new to me. Walking through the halls, I saw so many students like me. But they all looked so cheerful as they saw their friends they usually see every day. I wonder what life could have been if Mika and I lived normally? We would both probably be like that. Maybe... It would have been nice to have lived a normal life together with him. But that's okay... what's important is that he and I are together again. I continued to my classroom, seeing the faces of my classmates. Strange how I see these guys most of my days but never really talked to any of them. What does it matter? I have Mika now anyway. As I headed to my seat, I could feel people stare at me and whispering things. Yes....? Why the hell are you guys looking at me like I'm some kind of freak?? I narrowed my eyes at them, sitting down on my chair and laying my bag on the desk. Trying to avert my attention elsewhere, I stare at the window just beside my desk. Sadly, I could still feel eyes darting towards me. D-do I look weird or something? The stares and whispers finally ceased when I heard the teacher enter the classroom. It had been the same guy who taught us from the first day of school...sadly, I still hadn't had the time to even remember his name. Not that I needed to. "Ahh... Hyakuya-kun, so you finally decided to join us again?" He called out, taking my attention. "Huh? Well..." I scratch my head, "Figured you might have missed me." My classmates laughed at my remark, making the teacher's cheek turn into a slight red color. He placed his arms on his waist and gritted his teeth, "Mhmm. Hyakuya-kun, I'd like to have a word with you after class. Please follow me after the lecture." My shoulders raised at his announcement. It had made both me and my classmates silent. "Now, if no one else has anything left to say, please turn your textbooks to page 420." I shook my head. What was his prob? Why would he suddenly wanna talk to me after class? It's not like I haven't been in school for no reason. I was injured! For a brief moment... still! I sighed, opening my bag and browsing the inside. Lifting the top of my bag, I took a peak. Uuuuughhh... great, forgot my textbook. Stupid Yuu. I might as well just stare out the window while I wait for this to end... My eyes focused on the fluffy white clouds outside, staring at it to no end. For a brief moment, I closed my eyes to feel the breeze passing by the window. Then the next thing I knew, a loud bell rang, making my eyes dart open. The class had already ended without me noticing. Everyone was already relaxed, and the teacher was heading his way towards me. "Hyakuya-kun, come and follow me." He gestured. I scratched my head as I stood up. Might as well do as he says... there's no harm in going anyways. He and I walked towards an empty classroom. There was a desk with two seats that were positioned at opposite directions with each other. The teacher had sat on one and pointed at the other, "Have a seat Hyakuya-kun." I followed his request. We were now facing one another. "Now, I know you had just recently recovered from an injury... but I'm a little concerned about your grades. Especially considering that you're graduating this year, Hyakuya-kun." I knew it... I knew this was about the injury and my grades. Slowly, the teacher handed me a folded paper with my name and grade level on the front. I took it, opening the card. When I had read what was written inside, the pupil in my eyes disappeared, making it turn into a pale white color. Guren's voice was screaming in my head with mockery, i***t! i***t! i***t! i***t! i***t! i***t! All my midterm grades are... they are.... marked in red... FAIL I turned weak on my seat, my back hitting the chair. Am I really that much of a moron? "Graduation is only a few weeks away, and I have already spoken to your classmates about the future they want. I'd like to know about yours. What is your goal for a lifetime?" "My goal for a lifetime...?" My brows furrow at his question. I haven't really thought of that before... but I guess... maybe to live with Mika and be together every day? "Uhh... maybe, I wanna live my life with Mika." I bluntly said. I could feel my cheeks feeling warm. Even at times like these, it's Mika I think about. "Mika?" The teacher blinked, "Who is Mika? Someone important to you?" I nodded my head, feeling my face get hotter, "Y-yeah... Mika is someone I want to spend my whole life with. Yeah, that's my goal." My teacher's face had suddenly had a reddish color, making me tilt my head. Huh? What's up with him? "I-I see... but! But... what about a career, Hyakuya-kun?" He shifted on his seat, "I understand your feelings towards this Mika... but your life may have huge hardships if you do not have a career." "Huh? How does that work?" My eyes grew in curiosity. "Well... in the adult world, we pay for what we have. For food, for rent, everything. Life will be hard if you don't have a job to pay for these things..." He cleared his throat, "I don't think Hyakuya-kun would want his Mika to have a hard life right?" I shook my head violently. "No!" If Mika and I were going to live together without Guren or his mom... then that would mean we'd have to spend for everything.... that makes sense... Mika has a job at the hospital, but I don't want him to take all that burden... I closed my fists tight. Mika had suffered long enough... I shouldn't let him spoil me for everything. It's time I also work hard for him. But the problem is... "I don't know what I should do, teacher. What kind of job would want me around?" I frowned. "Well for starters... what do you like to do?" He smiled slightly. "Being with Mika?" He nodded his head with a continuous smile, "Okay. What else?" "Eating with Mika? "What else?" "Talking with Mika?" "Mhmm... and what else?" "Hanging out with Mika???" His smile dropped into a frown, eyed glaring at me, "Okay..." He sighed, "Let's try another question, shall we?" I raised a brow, "yeah?" "What does Mika do for a living?" "Mika is a nurse at the hospital I was in." The teacher's face brightened as he heard my answer, a smile appearing on his face, "Really? That sounds nice. Tell me more about it." "Well... Mika works a lot as a nurse, taking care of patients every day. Mika would help them eat, talk to them, give medicine on time, and cheer them on to recovery." A soft smile developed in my lips, "Mika is so kind..." "Mika sounds quite passionate about her job." The teacher sounded proud. I nodded slowly, also feeling proud of Mika. I'm such a lucky guy to have Mika in my life. "Well, how about you Hyakuya-kun? Do you think you can see yourself working in the same job as Mika?" The teacher asked. My green orbs look at him, a little surprised by his question. Me, a nurse just like Mika? Is that really possible? If I could, then that would mean I'd be able to spend more time with Mika. We'd see each other more often than ever. It's just like a dream come true! But... can I really become a nurse? I don't know if I'm cut out for it. "Think about it for a while, Hyakuya-kun. Just don't cut yourself short. Right now, you may be nothing, but that just allows you to become anything you want to be. Just believe in yourself." The teacher smiled and patted my shoulder. "Teacher..." I gaped, still lost in the thoughts of me becoming a nurse just like Mika. He stood up, handing me a notebook, "Here are notes for your subjects. It will hell you with your grades. If the topics are too difficult for you, you can ask your classmates for help or get a tutor." I nodded, holding the notebook close to my chest. Both of us shared silence as we exited the room. As we were about to part ways, the teacher had ruffled my hair. "Hyakuya-kun, I'll be looking forward to seeing you with your diploma this year." "Thank you, teacher..." The rest of the day was uneventful. I was still lost in my thoughts, grasping the notebook the teacher had given me. If I couldn't graduate now, what kind of future will I even have? No... what kind of future would I be able to give Mika? I definitely don't want to give Mika a hard life... In fact, I want him to take it easy. He suffered too much. But if I do graduate, I'd have a chance to give him the life he deserves. The problem left is... what kind of job am I supposed to get? Well, how about you Hyakuya-kun? Do you think you can see yourself working in the same job as Mika? Me? A nurse? I'm not gentle or careful like Mika, there's no way I'd fit in that kind of job. In fact, I'm super duper careless. No one would ever trust their lives with me! Scratch that... I don't think anyone is willing to hire someone who is careless. Siiiiigh... I feel so hopeless. My phone suddenly rang, taking me out of my daze. I shook my head as I answered the phone. "Y-yo." "Yuu-chan? Something wrong?" It was Mika. "No! I'm fine... what's up?" "Are you sure? You sound troubled." I laughed awkwardly, "Peachy." "Okay... Were you able to get your grades?" I yelped loudly, distancing the phone away from my ear. "Yuu-chan?" Putting it back to my ear, I swallowed, "Yeah... they're pretty bad. I failed most of my subjects at midterm." "Wow... were you even trying?" Mika teased. "H-hey! Don't make fun of me! who's fault was it that I didn't care about school?" I scowled. "Obviously yours." I could feel him roll his eyes on the other land. "I thought you were supposed to have your memories back... why are you being mean to me like that hellish nurse?" I whine. "Yuu-chan, I had amnesia. Not a split personality." He scoffed. I groaned, rubbing my face downwards and grumbling like a kid. Mika had a faint chuckle at me. Hearing his laughter made my chest feel lighter. No one else in this world calmed me down the way he did. That's why I want to give him a good life. "Yuu-chan? Come over to my place if you're done with school. I can help you with your studies." He said. "Really??" My face lit up, "Hold on. I'm on my way now!" Without wasting a second, a went to Mika's house in haste. I had been patiently waiting for the time we'd see each other again, and I wasn't going to delay any second later. By the time I had arrived, Mika let me in and led us to his room to study. He had a small study table in the middle of the room, and a few snacks on the side. Krul had been out to meet with her friends, and his uncle had moved out of the house. So now it was only the two of us. "Yuu-chan, sit down and bring out your notes." He smiled as he sat down on the floor by the table. He patted the floor next to him. I happily answered to his request, sitting beside him and taking out the notebook which the teacher had given me earlier. "Here you go." I gave him the notebook. "Thanks." He flashed a smile and flipped the note open, "Oh cool. Yuu- chan, you already have an outline of all the topics you need to study per subject at the first page." "Really??" I blinked, "I honestly don't know what's in there. My teacher just handed that down to me." He rested his cheek on his palm, "I think I understand why he did that." "Huh?" I narrowed my eye at him. "Alright! Time to study!" He clasped his hands together, moving his bangs up and tying it. I could feel my lips shivering a bit, trying to hold back a smile. Mika was so adorable. Is it weird to think of your family as adorable? Is it? Heck, was it actually normal to think of us living together forever... like just the two of us? "Yuu-chan, no time spacing out!" He poked my forehead, making me jerk slightly, "I won't give you any snacks if you won't be able to read in perfect English!" "Whaaaaat?!" I gasped, "Okay! Okay! Gimme the material!" I swiped the notebook from his hand. In the beginning, reading had been so hard to do. I wasn't used to studying after all, but after going through the materials, I realized how easy the lessons were to pick up. Science was most especially the fastest one I read. Who knew the human body could be so complex yet interesting? Maybe if I knew how simple these lessons were, I'd probably scanned through my books and aced every test. Heh! For each subject, Mika gave me about an hour for reading and lecture, and half an hour for answering quizzes that were included in the notebook. Mika had then checked my answers. When he finished doing so, I saw a sparkle in his eyes. "Yuu-chan!! You... wow!" He gaped. "Y-yeah?" I blinked. "Your scores are absolutely huge!" His mouth widened, "How could you have possibly failed?" I scratched my head, "Well... this is the first time I've actually read my books and lessons." "Figures." He laughed sarcastically, ruffling my hair. "Okay, eat the snacks Yuu-chan, and then we can call it a day." I let out a breath, grabbing a biscuit from the bowl of snacks placed on the table and munching on it. Mika did the same, and silence came upon us. I still couldn't forget about the talk I had with my teacher. What did I want to do with my life besides being with Mika? What can I do with myself in order to give Mika a good life? Sometimes, I envy Mika. It always seemed like he already figured everything out. Like he knew which direction to go to and what to do with himself. It's something I really admired about him. But... is being a nurse really Mika's dream? Is that his ultimate goal? Or would he share the same dream as mine? "Yuu-chan, is something on your mind?" Mika asked. I gaped, leaving the biscuit in my hand, "Mika... can I ask you something?" "Anything, Yuu-chan." He held my hand out of the blue, making my cheek warm. Returning the favor, I also held his hand as I locked my eyes with him. "Mika... do you want to live together someday? You know, just you and me?" I asked. I could see Mika's blue eyes brighten up like a pair of sapphires, his jaw dropped open, and his face turning red as an apple full of sin. "W-why suddenly?" He barely answered straight. I gave a slight smile, "Today, the teacher asked me what I wanted to do with my life... and I told him I wanted to live it together with Mika." "Y...Yuu-chan..." his voice trembled. "But..." I paused, "He told me I needed to think of a career if I wanted to make your life easier." "A career? Well, what do you want to do?" Mika suddenly had eyes of curiosity. "I don't know. But he suggested I go for the same job as you do. I'm totally cool with that, but I don't know if I could make it as a nurse." I shrugged. "Oh, Yuu-chan..." He chuckled, "Don't dwell on that too much yet. It'll come. Right now, I want you to focus on your exams. Let's make you graduate, okay?" Mika placed his hand on my cheek, caressing it gently. My eyes gazed at his soft hand. It was so warm and gentle that I could close my eyes forever in his hold. "We can talk about our future together after the finals. For now, let's keep this study session coming every day." He smiled softly. "Okay..." I smiled back. He let go of my face, tapping his hands as if he was wiping off imaginary dust. "Okidoki! Break time is over! Back to studying! I'm not letting you go home until you can write the whole multiplication table with your eyes closed!" "What...?" I narrowed my eyes at Mika. I know I'm hopeless. I don't know about what I should do. I don't have talents, skills, attitude or intellect. There might not be anyone who is willing to accept this directionless moron. I'm a total nobody who doesn't know a thing at all. But one thing is certain though... Despite my lack of spirit, goals, direction, and intelligence... With Mika by my side, I feel like I can do just about anything.
