Summoning the summoner

The spell

The very next morning Eric woke up full of energy and enthusiasm. He ran down to the kitchen to get some breakfast and saw his brother sitting at the table.

“Where is everyone?” Eric asked. 

“They’re still sleeping. Why?” Kai replied.

“Why are they all sleeping. It’s already morning isn’t it? They’re usually already eating breakfast.” Eric stated in confusion.

“Have you even looked out of the window? It’s still dark out.” Kai answered with irritation

Eric looked at the clock on the stove and saw that it read 3:30am.  “Oh.... then what are you doing down hear so early?”

Kai kept looking down at his bowl of cereal “I couldn’t sleep and obviously I was hungry.”

Eric had never felt such coldness from his brother before. Of course he was always a jerk but it felt completely different this time. It felt as if Kai was cold and distant towards him.

“Is something wrong? Did I do something to you? Why do you hate me so much?” As Eric was about to ask another question Kai interrupted with a cold tone “why are you asking so many questions?”

Eric quickly became silent and turned to make his way back up to his room. As soon as he got back to his room he quietly closed the door and laid down on his bed. Within minutes he was fast asleep.

Eric got up and looked at the time it was already 10:00am. “WHAT THE!” He quickly got up and ran down the stairs. His mother was doing the dishes and his sister was at the table munching on some cookies that his mother just finished baking.

“GOOD MORNING BROTHER!” A cheerful voice echoed in the kitchen. “Good morning penny”

“You ready for your first day of summoning? I’m so excited! I wanna see what your first summon is!!” Squealed penny.

“Calm down Penny. We dont even know if I even have that ability yet.” “Well your hair says other wise and so do your weird colored eyes. They dont match your hair color like how mines and Kai’s eyes match our hair.” Penny huffed.

“What!?” Eric shouted in confusion and dashed to the nearest mirror. His sister was indeed correct his eyes definitely did not match his hair color. It was fiery orange compared to his dark brown hair. His eyes stood out like sore thumbs it felt as if he was looking into his own soul staring at his own eyes reflection.

He fell into a trance while his sister just stared at him with a funny look on her face. “ You done checking yourself out Eric?” His sister giggled as she spoke

Eric instantly snapped out of the trance and said “I wasn’t checking myself out penny”

“That’s not what I saw just now Eric I wouldn’t be surprised if I caught you kissing the mirror too” she started bursting out laughing.

Eric’s ears turned red and his face flushed pink with embarrassment. “SHUT UP PENNY” and with that Eric stomped off to the living room.

Sitting on the couch Eric was deep in thought wondering what he was going to summon today. Something probably cool like a tiger, a lion, a dragon, maybe even a phoenix like mom! Or something unique like dads one! I hope its cooler than Kai and Penny’s put together. His thoughts were quickly interrupted 

“What you thinking so much about bud” his dad asked. “Oh just what my first summon would be like.” Eric answered and with that he sputtered “oh um ok see ya bud.” And walked off into his office to watch tv.

Eric never understood why his dad was so weird when it came to summoners topic. It’s like he avoided using it and talking about it like the plague.

After a few minutes the silence was interrupted again by his mothers calm voice.”we’re heading out now. You want to come along?” Penny butted in “ mom lover boy has to come along he’s bait” as she chuckled “Shut it penny!” Eric snapped back and they all left the house.

Once outside Eric went to his favorite boulder followed by his mother and sister. His sister was sitting with kitty under a tree near the boulder shaking with excitement. Not even 5 min of sitting out side they heard a Shrill psychotic scream “YOU HORRIBLE PEOPLE FREE THE ALIENS OR I’LL-“ before he could land a blow or finish his sentence he was stopped in mid air and knocked out. After wiping his memory clean his kitty grabbed the unconscious human in her mouth and ran off to the border.

After that his mother recomposes herself and says “lets start”

“The spell went something like this ... Almighty hear my plea grant me the power on my first summoning.”

And after finishing that sentence a phoenix appeared before them. Eric gasped “that is so cool mom!”

“Yes it is son. Now you try” his mother said with a smile.

“OK!” “Almighty hear my plea grant me the power on my first summoning”..... everything went silent then a small light appeared it got brighter and brighter...

Penny was shivering with excitement. Mother summoner was looking proudly at her son and Eric was excitingly waiting for his summon to finally appear.
