Summoning the summoner

Lester

Eric POV

as everyone sat there staring at Lester mom began making everyone's plates.

"so Lester what do you like to eat?" Mom asked. "Oh Just leaves and twigs madam nothing fancy."

-"Oh so like a salad?"

-"I guess you could say that" Lester replied, "Although do not worry madam I can take care of feeding myself I do not need special treatment." My mother looked shocked yet embarrassed. "I'm sorry I just thought you mi- because...." "because I am slow madam? Do not worry it is okay"

My mother smiled feeling a little better at his reply.

After breakfast, I decided to go out with Lester and get to know more about him. As I walked out of the kitchen I turned around to see he wasn't there and ran back to the kitchen. When I got there I saw him still trying to turn himself to get off of the chair. I groaned and huffed "ugh hurry up!." I faced my back towards him to let him climb up which felt like an eternity and began to make my way shakily to my favorite spot. My sister caught a glimpse of me trying to carry Lester on my back and her hands immediately shot up to her mouth holding back her laughter as I had this HUGE Sloth on my back and my legs shaking as I walked.

As soon as we reached our destination on my favorite boulder my legs gave out and I landed on the ground with a crash and within seconds a shrill scream "FREE THE- WHAT THE?!" The teenage boy was moving in slow motion my mother immediately put him to sleep and wiped his memory. My sister ran up a little after and took over from there.

For some reason, My mom couldn't take her eyes off of Lester. "Mom, what's wrong?" I asked. Mom kept her eyes fixed on Lester. "Lester.... did you do that?" My mother asked calmly "What mom? What did he do?" "Yes madam I slowed him down so that he wouldn't hurt master Eric." "Fascinating! You definitely are quite the summon. I think Eric is very lucky to have a summon like you. She smiled at him and began to walk away.

I was so confused. "So what you can slow people down that's all you can do. What are we supposed to do if we have to get away from something and I'm stuck struggling to carry you away? We both get killed." "ERIC!" Mother called out to me in a stern voice. "Do not look so lowly on Lester he is much more than you see him to be." "Then tell me, mom. Tell me what's so great about him."

"son that is for you and Lester to find out together. Create a bond and grow stronger together. If I just give you all of the answers you'll never grow and you'll always just try to find the easy ways out." "But mom it's not fair Kai and Penny they had it so easy why am I stuck working hard for something I should have had a long time ago?" "Son the Almighty works in mysterious ways Kai and Penny may have gotten it easy but have you seen Kai working on bettering himself? Penny is always studying and trying new things even though she had no problem with her first summon. If you want to be better and stronger don't take the easy way out like your older brother." I couldn't say that my mother was wrong. Kai never tried anything new. He was so excited that he was able to summon Shiro. When mom and dad said he needed to work more he was all gung-ho in the beginning summoning little critters to him and stuff but after a while, he just didn't feel like it and he would just train every now and then with Shiro. We still don't know what her full capabilities are. Penny would work hard everyday reading about how she can make kitty stronger and seeing what new things she could summon. She was very book smart and if I were to choose someone to train with it would definitely be her. But until then I guess I have no choice but to sit with Lester.
