- HARPER -
I hid behind the stack of bags under the carriage. I hugged my bag tightly, a hand over my mouth, my heart beating fast.
“Where is she?!"
“I saw her over here just now!"
“She went left. You go left, you go right!" A guard of the king's palace ordered his soldiers.
I held my lips tighter, his voice was so close. I could tell he was right behind me. Footsteps march back and forth. There were more than thirty soldiers, all of them looking for me.
Tears built in my eyes. I winched it back. No, I had to be strong, I could not let them catch me.
“ What will we do when we find her?” I heard a soldier ask the palace guard.
"Kill her.”
I forced back a scream, my lips bled as I bit harder into it.
'Harper, we are going to be fine. Nothing is going to happen. We can still survive. Don't be scared.’ My wolf tried to calm me down. But it wasn't working until I heard someone call the palace guard and I heard his footsteps leave.
I exhaled, relief washed over me, and goosebumps riddled my skin. Slowly, I rose from the ground where I was sitting and took a sneak peek at the road ahead. No more soldiers in sight. I covered my face with a hood and walked right into the crowd moving up and down the streets.
They hid me, allowing me to navigate calmly towards the city gates. Many thoughts filled my head as I crouched like an old she-wolf to hide my face.
‘How on earth did this happen? First, Alpha Rain Gray, my mate, rejected me and tried to strangle me to death. Then he chose my cousin over me. I went home, and they all saw me getting thrown out of the palace. How could I have joined a criminal group overnight and murdered the Alpha? I am just a helpless omega, I could not have even been able to lift a finger against him. All this made no sense at all, and now I was being hunted like a dog for no reason.’
A shiver ran down my spine as I remembered the order of the palace guard to kill me on sight. My hands trembled, and I held myself tightly, the loud. The talk of someone in the distance filled my ears.
“I see her, she is in the crowd!" Shock ran through me, I threw my eyes sharply into the distance, and ten soldiers crashed into the people behind me, all of them running towards me. I jolted forward, the gates before me.
“Close the gate! Close the gate!" The palace guard yelled.
My eyes fell on the iron bars, they jerked and began to roll down, the gate shutting slowly before me, I was still far away.
'No,. Please no, please, moon goddess, please save me! Please!!’
In that split second, my eyes turned white, and the gate stood still. I rushed to it, slipping underneath it. Immediately I went past, the gate fell fast, hitting the ground and dust filled the air covering me as I disappeared into our forest.
********
“Stop Harper, stop" the voice beckoned, but you were still running. It felt like I could hear them roaring behind me. My breasts jingling on my chest, my heart beating hard against my ribs.
“Harper, stop!!" My wolf yelled louder. I didn't. I couldn't. I don't want to get caught. I jumped a tree stump and climbed a giant tree bark, still fleeing as fast as I could.
“Harper, look out!"
I couldn't look, I couldn't stop. I tripped on the creature on the ground and fell, headlong into the dirty floor, scratching my face on the twigs and rocks.
I lay there on my back breathing heavily. My face was bleeding.
'Harper, are you okay?’ my wolf asked, sympathetically.
I think so… Hell, I don't know. I hurt everywhere. What the hell was that on the way?” I slowly pulled myself up and looked at the creature.
I gasped. ‘It's a wolf. A big Werewolf. What is he doing in a thick forest like this?
I crawled closer to him. He had his face on the ground. Gently I turned him over. My eyes fell on his face. Although the dirt was smeared on it, you could still see his short, straight, black hair that didn't fail to cover the side of his eyes, and a well-sculpted, pointed nose. His lips were still red and glossy, and he had a heavily built body.
‘'He looks like an army general, a very hot army general’ I thought, a blush lighting up my cheeks.
“I think he is hurt.” my wolf said.
I took another look at his body. It was a bit dark, but I could still see that his clothes were damp. He must be bleeding, which means he was hurt, but I don't know where. His clothes were in the way.
“Take off his clothes, and help him.”
My face reddened immediately.
'Ta… Ta… take off his clothes. No, I can't…?”
‘He is bleeding, and he is going to die. Stop being shy and help him.’ my wolf yelled at me, in anger.
I gulped, my eyes on his face. Slowly, I unbuttoned his shirt, all the way down to the waist. Then I looked.
His well-sculpted abs were the first thing I saw. A chill ran down my spine. I forced back the excitement. There was a deep cut on his lower abdomen, and he had bled a lot from it. His heart was barely beating.
‘He is going to die. Use your powers to heal him.’
'It's forbidden. I can't do that.’
‘So will you let him die?’
I exhaled, running my fingers around my red hair. I could not let him die, but still… My eyes rolled over to his lips. I looked away
Damn it, I cannot do this. I will have to ki… no way. My cheeks turned pure red. Suddenly it felt so hot.
“Stop being a sissy and help him. He will die, and it will be all your fault.’ my wolf barked at me. I puffed, cold air racing out of my mouth.
It's getting colder, and he is lying on the floor like that. I need to save him.
I pulled my body over him, breathing slowly, gently pressing my lips on his. It was a half a second kiss and then my lips pulled away.
My eyes were on his handsome face. If only he was my mate, maybe my faith would be better.
“I can see her. She is over there!!!”
My eyes widened, and I threw them at the voice behind me.
Damn, even after all the running, they still found me. I have to go. I tried to run… a hand grabbed my arm.
“Where do you think you are going?"
