Chapter EIGHTEEN: The Ball

We exited the conference and merged into the crowd.  It felt great to have a mate again and one that was excited to be mated to me.  I looked around and took in what Kelly had transferred this place into and how beautiful it all really was with the blacks, blues, and greys.

She made sure that the place was covered in streamers, lights, and that the bar was full.  She even got the tables and chairs around the ballroom spruced up.  I glanced around until I found Thomas standing near Henry conversing with another wolf I did not recognize so I headed towards Henry to introduce Jason.

"Well Henry, guess who I met today?" I asked.

"Well guessing that since he is attached to you and you have a big smile on your face that you met your mate," he said smiling.

"Yes I did, Henry this is Jason, Jason this is my beta Henry."

"Nice to meet you Jason, I think you and I will have to work something out about keeping Minerva here out of trouble and making irrational decisions," Henry said to Jason.

Rolling my eyes, I felt someone behind me so I turned around fast catching Jason off guard.  I felt him reach and grab my hand and squeeze it while Henry stood behind my left shoulder.

"Hello Thomas, it's good to see that you finally made it.  Have you had any luck finding your mate?" I said with a snarky tone.

"Actually yes I have Minerva.  A beautiful shewolf of your pack and I came to ask you if I could take her with me?"

"Who is it?" I asked knowing it was the same shewolf trying to get Jason under her wraps.

"Shelby.  The blonde over there getting a drink," he said looking towards the bar.  She was clearly flirting with the omega tending the bar and Thomas seemed to not even care.

"Yeah sure, you can take her with you, I do not mind at all.  She is your mate after all," I said as sweetly as possible.  In fact it made me happy he was taking her.  From what I have been told, she has slept with most of the male wolves and tried to get in ranks with clinging to Josh before he found his mate.  

"Great.  I will be taking my leave then.  Have a good evening," he said with a smirk.  I watched him walk away  towards Shelby whispering in her ear.  They took their leave and I looked at Jason, "Whatever you do, you do not leave my side, do you understand me?"

"Yes I do but what is wrong?" he questioned.

"I will explain later but we must mingle.  It needs to be known you're my mate and I also need to know if you dance," I said with a wink.

We made our way around the room talking to various Alphas that came or the betas that came because they didn't have mates like their alphas.  When finishing with mingling with everyone and introducing Jason as my mate, he took me to dance. 

He grabbed me by the waist and I could feel the tingling sensation he sent up my spine.  Alec was howling in my head with happiness that she finally had a mate.  He grabbed my hand sending more sensations through my arm.  I couldn't help but live in the moment when the mindlink hit, "Alpha we got her we are in your office."

----Jason's POV----

I have been to multiple mating balls with Zane looking for the two wolves of the prophecy told to us by his parents.  We never found them until now and wow my mate is so goddess like.  She was beautiful with her dark hair and blue eyes, and she radiated nothing but power.  I couldn't help but to go ahead and ask if I was her mate because I felt an odd pull towards her. 

When she said yes, I wanted nothing more than to take her to her room ,strip her from that dress and screw her senseless.  But I couldn't because she was the host of the ball and she had to make an appearance.  

When her and Slate took Kate and I into the conference room, I knew they were going to explain what they could about what was happening.  They were really giving us a way out of the mess that is to come but I couldn't bring myself to even think about rejecting Minerva.  She had already suffered through so much trauma from what we were told and for me to be chosen for her was my cue to treat her like the goddess she is.  As for Kate though, ai wasn't sure if she would accept Slate as her mate. 

She has always been the reserved one of the two of us and I knew she would need a little convincing because she is the logical of the two of us.  When Minerva sat down to try and convince her, it made me want her even more.  We all have heard the stories of Minerva and how ruthless and uncaring she is but this proves otherwise.  But when Kate asked her if the stories were true, it was kind of a shock and rather bold but Minerva just took it with stride and didn't rip her head off like Kate thought she would have. 

Apparently Minerva convinced Kate and I watched as Slate picked her up and spun her around.  I heard the stories of him as well.  They all sound like Minerva's and I blame their mates and children being killed on their reputations and the stories that circulate.  I had a good feeling that Slate was going to be perfect for my sister so we took our leave.  I couldn't help but feel excited that I finally found who I was mated to.  I knew it was going to be hard because what relationship isn't but I could not help but have faith we were going to do great things.

We mingled around and had multiple introductions in which I couldn't remember all their names, how Minerva did I didn't know.  She was amazing and I was so happy being chosen to be her mate.  I grabbed her and took her to the dance floor where I could truly feel her against me.  

I watched her body shiver as I grabbed her hand in mine and placed my other on her back.  Her eyes were gleaming in the darkness full of happiness when I felt her suddenly stiffen and her eyes glaze over.

She smiled at me and said "We"ll have to finish this later. Our current situation just got interesting."
