I got Slate's attention as Jason and I headed towards the exit to the stairs. He grabbed Kate and caught us quickly. None of us said a word until we got to the landing of the Alpha floor. I seen that Henry was waiting on us, so I stopped everyone and looked at Jason and Kate, "What you are about to see is between us and whoever is on the other side until this comes to an end. I am not sure what is going to happen but you both need to stay calm no matter what you see. Can you do that for us?"
They both shook their heads yes at me as we stood outside of my office door. I started to opening the door and the first thing I seen was that some of the men were half naked and covered in blood. The next thing I noticed was that both teams were in here and it was crowded. But the final thing I noticed which was the most important was the little girl wrapped in a blanket on my couch.
"Alpha, I think they were waiting on us. There wasn't many watching her. I think there is something bigger coming and we need to be prepared," Zech said worried.
"I know Zech, we have precautions being set and finalized. It won't be tonight because he just found his mate, but I see it in the near future," I sighed.
I sat down beside the girl and brushed my hand across her cheek. Such a lovely child with her blonde hair and rosy cheeks even though she was cool to the touch and as pale as a vampire.
"Are you the woman alpha they were telling me about?" she asked sleepily.
"Yes I am. I apologize for not being the one to come get you, but I had to make sure the bad guy couldn't figure out the plan to rescue you," I said sadily.
"It's okay. Where's my momma and dadddy?" she asked.
"On their way. I sent someoneto get them. Rest until they get here." I said to her gently rubbing her face. "She is quite advanced for a four year old," I thought to myself.
"She is a special child Minerva. Kidnapping her only opened her mind to her power. That is why she is so drained. I would bet she seen something about you saving her especially since she is not frightened of you or the men," Alectrona answered.
I really looked at the girl and couldn't help but wonder what her significance in all of this was. She was only four years old but she acted some how older than that. When the supernatural are kids, we always acted and learned like normal children so her ability at four years old to know that it was me who sent the men to save her, really kind of floored me. "I hope this child is not a key to anything in this," I said to myself as my door slammed open.
"Minerva is she okay?" Celeste asked, quickly walking towards me.
"She is fine, just drained. I am going to give you a few minutes alone with her, but I really need to talk to you both about what happened tonight," I said wearily.
"Of course. Thank you all for saving my girl. We are in debt to you Minerva."
I smiled and walked out with all the men following me out. "Go home. Clean up. Get rest. I need you all in the conference room 6am sharp. We have a war to prepare for," I said.
They all murmured "Yes Alpha" as they made their way to the private elevator so they could leave quietly. I turned towards to Henry when I noticed he was looking at the office door.
"Are you okay Henry?" I asked.
"Minerva, I think their oldest daughter is my mate."
"How do you not know if she is or not?"
"I'm not sure. My wolf says mate and she smells like caramel and chocolate but we also aren't sure because there was no recognition in her eyes that we would be her mate."
"We can ask Henry, right now they were hurting because they had a child that was kidnapped. Now that she is found, we can ask and see how they find or pick their mates," I replied hoping he is right.
He nodded his head and we backed against the wall. Slate and Kate were standing closer to the stairs talking and Jason was standing beside me studying the wall in front of him.
"How do you do it?" He asked suddenly.
"Do what?'
"Run a pack so large by yourself and maintain the care and passion you have for your pack members?"
"I guess it's really in my blood. The mean alphas that treat their packs like slaves and is always mean are not true alphas. Most of the time they are regular wolves not of alpha blood that got lucky so they go on a power trip. Those of us that are Alphas by blood, we take our rolls seriously. We have morals and the sense to protect those around us no matter who it is."
"I guess that makes sense. So you are a woman alpha, what would that make me?" he asked looking towards the office door.
"Who knows. It depends what happens if there is a decision to turn you. If you decide to change and the wolf chosen for you is an alpha, then normally that would put you running alpha and her luna no matter that she is alpha by blood. But then that would be normal circumstances. You can always choose different roles but just remember you are stronger together so jealousy never needs to in the relationship," Slate walked up and told Jason.
Jason shook his head in understandment when the office door swung open to show Scarlett standing there. "I can't take it anymore. Am I your mate?" she asked Henry staring right at him.
"Yes I believe so at least my wolf is screaming it at me," he said with a smile.
The next thing we knew she jumped on him pushing him into the wall. I look at the doorway and seen Simon and Celeste standing there in somewhat in shock.
"How do you both feel about this?" I heard Celeste ask Simon.
"I am not sure but I think that this could be a blessing to all of us," he said smiling. "Scarlett you go with Henry and get to know each other more. Jenny asked to sleep on Minerva's couch for tonight and said Minerva agreed to it."
"I did and if you want I can have cots brought up so you can sleep with her. I was wondering if I could speak to the two of you before we retire for the night?" I asked them hopeful.
"Yes of course. We know she is safe here for now," Celeste replied.
We shut the door to the office and moved to the office that Jason will have to take care of his duties. It was just as big as mine with hardwood desk and chairs already inside. It just needed his touch to complete it.
I offered the seats to the Porter's while Slate and Kate went to sit on the couch together. Jason and I moved to behind the desk where he pulled me into his lap. I took a deep breath taking in his scent calming the nerves I didn't know I had.
Taking a deep breath, "Let's get straight to the point, is Jenny gifted more than normal witches?" I asked letting the breath out.
I watched Simon stiffen and shock cross Celeste's face. They turned to look at each and the Simon sighed. "Yes she is. She was gifted with foresight so more than likely she seen something to alert her that someone was coming for her. She may be four but she has always been ahead of us in some areas. We thought that we couldn't have more children after Scarlett so we just quit trying until 5 years ago. Celeste got pregnant and at that point we knew there was a reason but we had no idea why. I think though now that we know what is happening in this world, we know she is even more special than originally thought. We are supposed to help you in the war to come, I just worry about my four year old being involved."
"I know that is what worries me. I don't want to involve a child if I don't have to. I hope that this is not the case, but if she must be of help, then I think we can work it out and still keep her safe," I said thinking. If we can keep her somewhere out of sight and mind then maybe we can get through this with out bringing her to the attention of what is going to happen.
They nodded in agreement and I looked at the clock. "It's 1 am. We have Jenny and Slate and I have found our mates, so let's retire and check back in the morning. We have a meeting that needs to involve you two as well. 6 am in the conference room on the first floor. I will have my head kitchen omega Kelly come up to Jenny so she is not alone."
"Okay that will work. We will see you all in the morning. Have a great night," Celeste smiled and walked across the hall with Simon following behind her.
"Let's head to our rooms. There is a lot to talk about and I'm sure ready to get in my comfy clothes," I said with a smirk.
Slate shook his head at me and gave me a side hug while Kate hugged Jason. "Don't wear him out to much, we might need his brain in the morning," she told me smiling. Jason rolled his eyes and I watched them move down the hall to the guest room on my floor.
"Come on Jason. Let's get to know each other a little more," I said with a sultry voice.
He moved quicker than I thought he would, picking me up and pushing me against the wall. "I would love to know you inside and out."
